Note: Also ask for business goals ✨ (Edit) In this video, I demonstrate what it's like to have a UX whiteboard challenge interview. Note that you probably will ask more questions and write done more things in an actual interview. For the ideation section, feel free to use ideation tricks and tools such as "How Might We" and "Crazy Eight." I've had my whiteboard challenge with Google, but this is not my interview's exact question because I'm not allowed to share it. If you find the video too slow, feel free to speed it up. Enjoy! 😄
i was not expecting that! i figured u'd just talk about things the interviewer might say, but you went all in with the playing both roles 👩🏻🏫👩🏻💻 you put a lot of work into this. well done! and very helpful, thank you!
Aliena! Your very very unique, you've just earned new subscribers, I'm my telegram group we are about 200, we saw your videos and we've all been talking about your videos ✨
I love that you are LITERALLY demonstrating and showing us Step by Step instead of just talking about it and given template examples or clips. ✨✨✨ Definitely would like more real time/hands on videos like this 🥰 Thanks!!!
This is the best white boarding challenge I have actually seen on here ... The fact that it is practical and not theoretical like most are has earned you a subscriber ...thanks for putting this out ...
Just wanted to say thank you! Your video helped me through my second interview and I was successful. I start my first UX Design position in three weeks. Thanks again.
This is so helpful! i'm also a student on Google UX Certificate and still got long way to go until interview day. After watching this video it makes me realized that we don't only need a strong portfolio, but we also have to be creative and comes up with good ideas. Thank you for making this video! 💕
I cannot thank you enough for making this video in the first place. I have an interview today and I was nervous until I realized how to lead the conversation in an UX whiteboard challenge and what to ask and how to answer them. It was very thorough, and that step-by-step situation gave me tons of clarity!!! I am applying for a PM role but UX plays a huge role.
Absolutely nailed. What an excellent approach to solve the problem. Crisp and to the point! Iam so glad I found your video just before my interview. Thanks!
Thanks to your video(s), I could prepare really well for my UX/UI Job Interview - and got hired! ❤ Please keep doing your content, it’s so helpful, thank you 💕
Can't believe you played two roles for this video! This is impressive! I wish you spent more time defining the problems before going into ideation tho. Thank you for making the video :)
You are so talented!!! I'm going through some interviews and this is so helpful. And I squealed when I realized you were playing both roles HAHA SO ADORABLE
I've been following your channel for a while, but today was the first time I watched this video. I simply loved! You did very well! The content and information are very rich! You gained another fan :)
Thank you Aliena, I tried multiple different strategies to tackle WBC, but in the end, I felt your 4 columns grid works best because it's fairly simple & easy to remember. What I liked the most is that there's a storytelling element even in your questions which I didn't find in any other videos. In every other design challenge video, it seems like interviewees ask so many questions to the interviewers just to demonstrate that they think holistically about the product but they just forget there's a timer that's running. Your strategy is so far the best!! I truly appreciate your efforts in making this video.
I can't even imagine the amount of work behind this video 🤯. But it turned out great! If I face some white board challenge in the future I will certainly remember this, thanks
I’m learning more by watching your videos than I have in 2 weeks of boot camp (although the bootcamp is teaching me UX fundamentals and processes). SOooooo helpful to watch you do this in a real world (albeit hypothetical) setting. GREAT video🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I just forgot that it's the same person, but I feel so tense and nervous like I was in an interview lolz. But this video really helped me have an insight about this field. I need more actual stuff, than just things I read and watch. Thank you
Great job Aliena 👏🏼 I am a beginner in UX design and haven't had my first interview yet. However, after watching your video I feel way more confident and ready. ☺️
You got this! I'm so glad that it's helpful. I totally feel you. UX is not an easy field to enter, especially getting that first project/job. I'll sure more contents about that later 😄 I hope you keep designing and investing on yourself while doing job search 😊
as I was watching I was thinking about the recording and I'm amazed at how responsive it is between the two characters and I don't think people truly understand how difficult it is and you do it like nothing, love it. I do audiobook narrations and also edit my own content so I can appreciate script, improv and editing skills, amazing, good job.And of course, thank you for the video.
Thank you so so much for your kind comment! Yes. Handling two characters at once was challenging 😂 the editing even more 🤣 but so glad it ended up helping a lot of people!
Props to you for the work and effort to do this video! Also, the best and most entertaining, accurate and useful whiteboard challenge video I saw til date. An allllso, great sketches!!!! Subscribed
It is a great demonstration of a whiteboard challenge, kudos Aliena. However I feel like it might be worth asking questions about business / profit model and success metrics, after all the business needs to make profit :)
You did an excellent job. I truly didn’t know you were both people 🥴. I was too engaged with the process to recognize you were both 🤦🏽♀️😂😆. This was BEYOND HELPFUL. Thank you so much for doing this.
Very helpful in showing the actual process, step by step, vs. just a talk through or book recommendation. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and skills with us! I feel much less intimidated by the mention of 'whiteboarding' now.
I am an entry level UX designer with no UX design experience so I have no idea of what to expect in a UX design interview. So watching this gives me an idea although it also makes me nervous! 😂
It was my first time watching someone so dedicated to demonstrate this with so much effort... I tried doing it-designed a sample app, played both roles, it was a bit cringey at first yeah but it was fun!!! I am happy with the results, hoping I am doing right~~ I am grateful for this video! Thank you~~
i havent even started my bootcamp yet (4/11 with springboard!) but i'm absolutely loving the information you provide. will be following this template when i begin interviewing late this year!!
@@AlienaCai ahh thanks so much!! I will continue watching your videos so that I am better prepared to enter this industry. Thanks so much for the time and effort you put into your channel!!
@@Br1tt_B I honestly really like it so far. I'm in the combined UI/UX course which is a 9-month program with 43 units. I love interacting with the slack community, the communication between staff and students, and my weekly mentor calls & monthly career coach calls. further down the line, I'll have actual hiring manager calls and practice interviews. You get free access to figma, sketch, and adobeXD. There are units on networking, elevator pitching, and effective interviewing, so the career coaching is integrated all throughout the curriculum. I've gotten great advice from both my mentor and career coach so far, and I have 0 regrets! Only thing is that some of the resources can be a bit redundant, but I think of it as really driving the info home. if you have the ability to teach yourself, all the learning materials they require you to access throughout the curriculum are available for free online, you'll just have to figure out a structure. However, I think the practice exercises/projects, mentoring, and career preparation can't be beaten. There's also a 6-month post-completion guarantee where you get a tuition refund if you don't secure employment in the field. Hope this helps!

I just passed my school whiteboard challenge mock interview and i def think this video helped me. i structured my presentation like yours, in 4 sections and took notes just like you did. i did miss some key feature of the product so that was bad and i didn't put a bottom nav, ran out of time, damn it goes by fast, and I didn't ask about the business goals (you didn't either and i've read comments saying you should, so they were right. maybe you could edit your video or just state in your notes that it is ideal to have this, as your video is so great, and this could ,and it better) thanks great job thanks for sharing

Hi Aliena, this was a great video and I have found it very helpful.
