    I’ve got a regular axle 1 ton f350 with a set of mud tores on it as you’d say and I’d bet 1,000$ it would have drove out. Might get a better set of tires. Could be the simple fact that it’s a dually. I’ve always done bette with a skinny mud tire rather than wides

The Dually’s Don’t Do As Well In Snow Or Mud Because The Snow & Mud Or Whatever Packs In Between The Duals & The Lift You Get Doesn’t Give The Traction To Get Free. @lbtt295 Місяць тому

      @thomasdigs I used to drive big rig wrecker, pulling a cement mixers or 80lb tanker buried to the frame isn't a yankum out thing. Big rigs only have 11k to 15k lb wwl wire ropes, so a ball park estimate on wire rope, snatch blocks and all rigging just to be sure nothing snaps, otherwise as soon as something breaks the tow truck flips over, new rotator right now 700k +
      50 ton wrecker used 450k
      35 ton 400k
      When someone gives you the privilege to operate equipment like this I just wanted to make sure I didn't screw up

    • @lbtt295
      @lbtt295 Місяць тому

      @thomasdigs the rule is lines to the load, I line takes the full weight, im thinking if you could have ran that cat closer and double the strap to tbe truck,then each strat is pulling half the full load .
      Broken straps are pretty much harmless but broken chains can be deadly , that's why it is scary when people use non rated chain from home depot, and most shows like matts recovery never talk about the rating or safety factors

    • @thomasdigs
      @thomasdigs  Місяць тому

      @@lbtt295 I definitely could have doubled it back but I was solo and wanted some distance between dozer and truck in case something went wrong maybe I’d save my front bumper. It was also entertaining to break it😂 as far as using chains go, a lot of people are questioning me using a strap but you hit it on the head- chains are deadly. Straps not so much. That’s why all my buggies have synthetic ropes. I’ve accumulated some scratches yanking equipment out with chains having hooks spread out snap and come back on the machine. If I use a chain I make sure all it’s going to hit is a steel bumper or bucket. Matt’s off-road has actually done a couple videos about the dangers of recovery points like using drop ball hitches to recover vehicles, usually makes sure to touch on it when they connect, but I wish he went more in depth because those yankum ropes while powerful can be very dangerous if used improperly- just hate to see someone play UA-cam university and rip the front end out from under a vehicle or worse.

    • @thomasdigs
      @thomasdigs  3 місяці тому

      They usually do just fine for a tug. I prefer snapping straps like that over chains when towing vehicles like this, no metal going airborn if/when something goes wrong. No idea where my proper tow strap is lol

    • @jerrydaugherty4657
      @jerrydaugherty4657 3 місяці тому

    You want to use 4hi in mud and not 4lo. Unless you have massive tires and a weak engine like in an old jeep on 40s. 4lo gives you so much torque you will instantly start spinning and limits wheel from getting as high which is what you want in mud. 4hi is what you want for the mud.

    • @thomasdigs
      @thomasdigs  2 місяці тому

      Correct. Wheel speed is everything in mud, gotta keep the tread cleared. The truck was already pretty well stuck though, and to put it in gear and have it want to move on it’s own to help while tugging, 4 low is best bet. That wet clay left me with nothing to bite no matter how clear the treads were
