This was my 5th cruise (Gold card holder) and still Had a Blast!! Just follow these 4 rules and I guarantee you will have Epic memories.
1) Go with a large group.
2) BE OPEN! Try to make new friends on the cruise. People are more nicer and chilled, after all this is a vacation. I made plenty of life long friends on cruises.
3) Go on at least one excursion.

Good review! I understand how you feel..after being on the Horizon, I realize I do like the smaller ships better. I agree too about the atrium and the round bar
My husband and I were on the Vista last year. I agree about being disappointed in Carnival removing the scenic elevators and replacing the benches with those chairs in the Liquid Lounge. I did enjoy the I-MAX theater.

Totally agree with you regarding the Atrium and the service. The Sky Ride is a must. Probably my favorite thing on the Vista.

I went on this ship May 2019. I agree COMPLETELY with your disappointments + my own! Every elevator was HOT!! No air! And the layout of this ship drove me CRAZY! I spent too much time trying to find the liquid lounge theater, I could not believe how small this is. It had too much wasted space.

Now the Havana area is off limits 24hrs a day, We have booked both Vista & Panarama in Deck 5 Havana Cabana’s. Love the entire experience, Pool area. Only beef is the sliding glass doors creak loudly on both ships and the crew does something at 2-3am that will wake you up. Just booked Horizon for Dec 2021 Havana, but corner room Aft 8th floor.

Sound like the trashy bar would be an easy fix. They could build cabinets over the tops of trash cans. Simple but effective 😎
We were in a Havana Cabana when we were on the Vista. I agree with you we will not book a Havana Cabana again.
We were on the first US inaugural Vista cruise out of NYC November 2016 (with Parodeejay coincidentally). The MDR service was so slow that we only ate there a couple times. The seats were so bad in the Liquid Lounge that a lady kept sliding her chair back into my knees. The comedy lounge’s seats and poles were the worst yet. But, we had a wonderful time. It was a Journey 11 day cruise. We got to experience the old time midnight buffet. We had Matt for the CD, he is wonderful. We don’t like to cruise the same ship twice but I would go on the Vista again if it weren’t for that. We are booked for the Horizon and can’t wait, it looks even better.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. You’re always fair and honest. We were on Vista in October ‘17 and on Miracle in April ‘18. I like the elevators too but I must say when we were on Miracle we missed the light and airy feel of the Vista atrium and of course those violin players (amazing).
Totally agree about the Havana cabins not having privacy. We Like a lido balcony as you can go out in the morning a just relax without bothering to comb your hair or get dressed. Wouldn’t.be a pretty sight if I was in a Havana cabin! BTW that last comment was describing me - my wife would be beautiful!
Ron H Yes we love the Lido balconies as well. I will agree with you on the violinists. They are amazing. We are excited that allure strings will be on our cruise in Oct. on the Dream.
I disagree with the lack of privacy on the Havana area, with it limited only to the Havana cabins there is almost no foot traffic, also there are more cabins other than the deck 5 cabins. The doors never opened the entire cruise even after 7 you still had to enter through the Havana bar. We stayed on deck 7 in the extended balcony and the area is amazing. We stayed almost our entire cruise in the area. The positives are lack of babies and little kids, having to be at least 12 to being in the cabin. The service was amazing and it was very quiet even when we had most of the cabins out on the pool deck. The rooms are well decorated and felt we will only stay in Havana cabins when we book on the vista class.
You can add the limelight lounge to the liquid lounge for horrible areas, it was probably the worst comedy club I have seen on carnival. Who creates a comedy club with no bar just wasn’t very good. I agree 100% with the liquid was not good. The casino was also a very small and filled with smoke wasn’t very good either.
You guys are spot on with the fun things, you can add the imax that was a lot of fun, was tired with the sky ride. :)

Hello Jamie and Sharon, I found this video to be really helpful. The Vista is porting Galveston soon. I’m looking forward to that. Galveston is my main port and I cruise out of it because it’s close to my house without flying, although I will miss the breeze I’m looking forward to seeing the Vista. I’ll probably cruise on it as much as I did the breeze.I’ve been on the breeze 14 times. Before that it was the Magic in Galveston. We are cruising on Royal Caribbean now to. We have one in December(liberty in Galveston) and one in January(Oasis) in Miami(wife’s choice). We did enjoy Freedom of the seas earlier this month. Karen was quit impressed with Royal. We are thing of trying Princess next. What is your thoughts on them?
We love Carnival, although starting to venture out & try other cruise lines. We are booked on a royal cruise next April from Miami, & New NCL encore the following Jan. as well as a few Carnival. Hoping to book some more soon. I would like to try Princess but we probably won't for awhile since it doesn't appear to have as much for kids our sons age. We are also looking into MSC, hoping to make it to Europe in 2020. Glad the video was helpful. We had a few hiccups on the Vista, but would definitely cruise on her again.
The sky ride has a weight limit so that hurts & I didn’t realize you had to pedal . My knees wouldn’t let me do that so I’m not going to be able to try it out unfortunately . I’m going On the Vista out of Galveston Oct. 22
Also the bar. Never had a drink there but on the others that's where we hung our the most
We just booked for July ... fingers crossed. But now I’m a little worried. My only other cruise was on the Dream and told my husband so much about it and now I’m worried about service for my husbands and kids first cruise
Thank you for the info! Since you have cruised a lot, do you have a recommendation of a ship that would be good for a 12 and 14 year old? Also that goes somewhere besides Cozumel and Progresso. we really aren't looking for Mexico.

Oh NO!! I can't believe they don't have glass elevators! I'm afraid of elevators and I always count on them when cruising. This is such a disappointment. Our cruise leaves in 12 days, it's the first cruise out of Galveston and I was so looking forward to it. Wish I could cancel. I really appreciate you making this video in such detail. THANK YOU. At least I can prepare to take the stairs. :( I sure hope the service is better in the MDR by now. Thanks again.

i found service has gone downhill on carnival cruises. we had trouble finding employees the entire cruise. the food has become awful. such a real shame.
Hi we were on vista in her inaugural season in the Mediterranean- we agree about the lobby, we didn’t like it at all and hardly spent any time there it just lacked any atmosphere!
also really disliked the theatre area, unless you get there very early to get a good spot you can’t see the stage it’s weird, and when it converts to a nightclub couple of times a week it’s really odd!
I need carnival to bring back the glass elevators it looks boring now
Dang it I didn't realize it didn't have the elevators. That was the coolest thing going on my first cruise on the triumph. Booked this cruise for my honeymoon that's a bit of a downer for sure.

Not specifically the Vista, but the second Vista class ships, the Horizion is very close to our favorite. We are going on the Vista next month 7/24/21 so we'll see how we like it.

I’ve heard that the 7 at night thing is no more, regular cruisers are not allowed back there at any time.
Loved the ship overall but definitely agree with you about the lobby area, just underwhelming.
Did the Vista have Fitness Center gym with steam room and sauna?

When was your cruise?
I liked your review I agree with most of your likes and dislikes. But from having stayed in the Havana Cabanas the lack of privacy is not an issue, we very seldom had anyone walking by our patio and never had people standing along the rail. The private pool, hot tubs, lounge chairs and bar make them worth the price. We have experienced far less privacy on a regular balcony cabin with people hanging over the railing looking down, for that reason cove balconies are our normal booking when Havana is not an option.
We have never used the kids club is there a up charge in useing it

I went on the Vista in January with my wife (also named Sharon). We pretty much felt the same about the lobby and the quality of food in the Cucino del Capitano. Our room steward was just fine, fortunately. The seating in the main theater was horrendously designed. How did Carnival plan a smaller theater for a larger ship? For me, the sports bar was terrible. There was no place to view the NFL playoff games since the in room TV channel selection was very limited and no place else on the ship had the game playing. The sports bar was shoulder to shoulder slam full of football fans with no room to move or sit. For a ship that size, the comedy club was way too small. Another problem I saw was that the bars are now more specialized than on other ships. The first time I ever had a mojito was at an Alchemy Bar on the Liberty. This Alchemy Bar would not fix me one and wanted me to go find the Cuban bar to get one. We had Matt (I forgot his last name was our cruise director and he was excellent. We did not travel with our sons, so we don't know about how the children's stuff was. We would go on the Vista again, since any Carnival cruise is generally a good cruise. But I have to be honest in that we did prefer the smaller Carnival ships to the Vista for atmosphere, theater shows, bars, and the like.
Thanks for your input...It seems many have very similar views on the Vista.

Did they not have any elevators or they were in a different location?
They had the ones that are usually behind the big glass ones. No big glass o es though.
Just cruised on the Vista --> grimey halls & public bathrooms.
Dirty carpets at all elevator areas. The cruise was booked to full capacity and the ship was really crowded. The two pools were rusty.
The Marketplace buffet was a disaster, as was debarkation. Ugh.
Won't ever book Carnival again.
I’m not a big fan of the Italian restaurant. I’ve eaten there on the Magic and it was indeed “mediocre.” We’re cruising on the Vista in July and I didn’t realize they also had it. But I am excited to try the Asian restaurant!

I didn't care for Mike Pack. ( I had him on Horizon) I had Matt Mitchem on the Vista. He was amazing.
We go on 5/25/19 and now I"m so regretting picking this ship for our first cruise ever. I wish I would have found this video before we booked. I'm really worried now. I've also found that a lot of people are saying the food is not good on this boat. I so have cruise booking regret now! So worried for our first cruise... 🤔

I wouldn't worry. We sailed on her a couple years ago. They have worked out the bugs since then. People i know who have recently sailed on her said they had a great time.

21 cruises...there has been a special seafood place on all Conquest class ships since the Conquest first sailed. I guess you all have never sailed that class? The string trios? They have been around for some years! I guess you all are newer cruisers?
Hi CruiseShip Crazy..Vista was first to have the Seafood Shack in 2017...it was added to others shortly after. Not sure what seafood place you are referring to. We had never seen the 3 piece violin string trio Allure Strings on a cruise before. We do see 3 pc trio now on other ships. Thanks for watching..
@@SharonatSeaTravel the fish and chips restaurant was on the upper deck of the Marketplace on Conquest, Glory, Liberty, Valor, and Freedom. The electronic string trio was first seen by us on the Magic TA in 2011. We have seen a trio on all Dream class, The Triumph and all of the Conquest class except the Liberty (which is kind of lacking in many areas).
@@cruiseshipcrazy9447 The video was referring to the Seafood Shack, not the fish & chips. We have been on every conquest class ship, and had fish & chips a couple times but didn't care much for it. This video was about the Seafood Shack & Allure Strings on the Vista not other ships. Sorry if you misunderstood.
I went on the Vista Sept of last year. I WILL NEVER go on the Vista again purely because of the lackluster service that you described and the terrible bar set up/drink service. In fact, I booked my cruise I am going on in 2 weeks on the older ship I liked before, The Glory. I thought the service in the MDR and in the places offering the "free lunches" was so bad that I went to the buffet instead almost every time toward the end of the cruise and went to specialty dining instead when I didn't want to do that. I always get the Cheers Package and hit up the night club multiple nights so bartenders and night clubs are important to me. The bar service was not memorable at all except at The Alchemy bar and they did not have a dedicated night club so it was a horrible layout for a night club (the night club is the comedy club during the day for instance) and did not have a dedicated bar so they had to send someone out for a lot of drinks. As you said, the Vista service in general was "mediocre" and I don't need 5 star but I want memorable service on my cruises. On other cruises, my cabin steward was amazing and memorable too but on the Vista, I don't think I ever saw his face again after the first day :-/ Also I like to get specialty coffees because I get the Cheers Package, the coffee bar was understaffed for the demand and sometimes I didn't get my specialty coffees because I would have to wait a minimum of 30 minutes sometimes.
O my gosh. Is the vista really that bad. My last cruise was the valor. 100% amazing. Staff was truly waiting on us hand and foot. I loved it
@@savvytrucker don't get me wrong I still had a good time but I just felt like I was in a floating city and not like I was a valued guest at a floating resort (like I want to feel on a cruise). To me the slight increase in activities did not makeup for the mediocre service. This might possibly be a large ship problem that is not confined to the Vista.
@@katdodd6211 I understand that definitely makes sense like I said before it was the same feeling I got on the Valor people knew my name I felt like I was the only one on the ship if that makes any sense but I just wanted to know the experience on that ship because this is the first time I kids are going what would you suggest as far as activities and those sorts of things
@@savvytrucker like they said, there is a great kids club and I stayed in the family harbor suite that has an exclusive hangout lounge for the kids as well there. The waterpark is also amazing. I felt like a kid again playing in the waterpark lol also the thrill theatre/imax is worth the up charge and they have two pools and kids aren't band from either one

I got off the Vista three weeks ago and NEVER saw one of the LED scenes repeated
Havana Cabana drawback is you can't wander around without flashing what you wear at night and to see the water you have to exit your balcony area to look through a piece of glass...
Liquid lounge sucked. The best seats were reserved. Then you're stuck on a single chair with no place for your drink and if you get the tall man in front of you, well, you miss the show....bingo wasn't played there, it was in Ocean Plaza
My biggest issue was WHERE THE HELL ARE THE BATHROOMS! No obvious signs for one outside Liquid Lounge and ONLY three stalls
The skyride was closed for repair when I went. Engineering issues..
Brioche bread isn't cheap and not is lobster or crab. I had the lobster roll and it was delish

Now I am beginning to regret booking a cruise on the Vista.
Don't regret it. I'm sure you will have a great time. We went when it was brand new. I think they have worked some of the bugs out. There was lots of good too...

I just came off horizon had a good time with my family and friends because we were all together but carnival needs better ship designers there is no thrill on these new ships elevators suck hot as hell no views no ac on accept your room more pools food half ass everything barely any fruits it wasnt nearly as good as the first cruise I felt like I was in vegas or a large city didnt feel like I was on a ship this time it wasnt good please redesign the ships
They dont know what they are talking about. The Havana cabana staterooms and suites are very private the porch is very relaxing and the pool area is quiet and never crowded it also comes with a private bar great area to stay in and no one is walking around the patio area. Don't give an opinion if you have never stayed in that area and by the way, the atrium is beautiful even without an elevator.
We did not stay in a cabana room, although we hung out in one with friends and exoeriened people walking by and the neighbors noise when on patio. It probably just depends when you sale. Also anyone can walk by after 7pm and we ourselves walked through and could see in peoples cabins. So if we did this, others could to. We just felt like we has more privacy on our regular balconies and a better view of the ocean.
