NORDIC UNION is the successful collaboration, built by Frontiers President Serafino Perugino, between singer Ronnie Atkins of the legendary Danish hard rock institution PRETTY MAIDS and the up-and-coming Swedish songwriter and producer Erik Martensson of ECLIPSE and W.E.T. fame. The partnership between the two Scandinavians came about sometime in 2015 when Atkins was sent a bunch of demos put together for him by Martensson. The enthusiastic reaction from Atkins sparked a brand new musical alliance that culminated in Nordic Union’s self-titled debut album, which was released in January 2016.
Ronnie Atkins says, "I feel great about this new album! Whereas the first album was a bit of a “pilot project“, since we didn’t really know each other that well, this time it was more of a collaboration since we talked a lot about the direction of the individual songs, as well as me being more involved in the songwriting, though mainly lyrically. The first album turned out quite well and I still think it’s a great debut, to be honest. But from when we decided to do a second one, we kind of agreed to not just copy the first album, but without stepping too far away from the original formula and I think we succeeded in that. “Second Coming“ is a bit more mature, so to speak. A bit deeper, melancholic if I may say so, but still with great melodies and hooks! More unified, really and I’m pretty convinced that those who liked the first one will dig this one too."
Says Martensson, "[w]ith this album we took the bits and pieces that what we liked on our debut album and used those as a starting point when we started to write. What we aimed for was to create our own sound and identity and I think we achieved that goal. There are Nordic folk music influences, a bit of melancholy, and absolutely packed with melodies. I love how it turned out. Also, Ronnie Atkins is a fantastic singer and it's truly an honor to have the opportunity to work with him."

You gotta love all the comments bashing a great band for having a political song that doesn't share their particular view on things. When a song is great the music speaks for itself and I've never known that as being bad for a band to tackle politics. It doesn't change my mind about this song at all cuz it rocks like it should. If you wanna preach about a political song there are tons out there so I doubt if this one little song is gonna change the world. I love the music and thats what sells, not the politics people.

Political lyrics have always had a place in music to one degree or another it's just that in this case in this day and age where one can get access outside the typical controlled mainstream media one can do their own research and find out the truth more readily than past decades
In this case Atkins has drunk the tainted Kool-Aid from the mainstream
A more neutral nuance approach to the lyrics would have had greater effect
In the end it's not so much left or right but up and down which translates to ridged ideological beliefs opposite integrity/truth

Honestly, I freaking love when band gets political. I hate that bands nowadays always sings about love, hate, struggles, money, fame and other cliches... thank god this is refreshing!

I am a pretty big fan of Nordic Union. Loved their first album. I was really looking forward to their second. With that being said, I am a huge Trump supporter too. (Yes, I live in the States). Like someone mentioned on the thread, keep politics out of it. Btw... you don't hear much from Rocket Man do you? It took Trump to settle the score.
I understand where you're coming from, BUT how about this. I'm a Democrat and Trump demonizes Democrats on a daily basis by saying we are against borders, the military and everything else American. Being a patriotic American I take serious offense to the rhetoric Trump spews. I think for this country to heal and become unified, Trump needs to knock off his divisive language. We are all Americans, not just the Republicans.

Telling artists that they cannot speak about one topic or another when you don't agree with them amounts to a call for censorship. We all agree that censorship sucks, right? Well I normally dont do comments but ill be the one to point out the elephant in the room. While I love the song musically the lyrics is unnecessary. We are in a day and age where politics is too sensitive a subject and shouldnt be in music. You divide your fanbase, hurt record sales, and possibly hurt your primary bands by making biased political messages. Look the fact is whether your for Trump or against doesnt matter, music should bring us together as one group not separate us. I dig Nordic Union greatly but maybe dont pick sides guys, stay in the middle so it doesnt hurt your careers. Im not attacking, im simply respectfully saying dont make dangerous risks, the worlds changed. Cant wait to hear rest of Album guys, best wishes :)

Perhaps but the times changed since the 60s, its a sore spot for people now. People take it too seriously and even go as far as disowning if you attack either side, my point was in this era its not wise to play favorites when ur distributing music to the world. Thats a big risk and hurts sales because of a biased political opinion, its not needed especially from a group thats not even American and i say that respectfully. Look at Sweden....its a falling castle there government is against them and immigrants taking it over, even Crazy Lixx wrote Snakes In Paradise because of that problem. Everyone in other countries is so focused on Trump meanwhile there country is destroying its self, yet people finger pointing Trump think they know better for "The People".
