- The Canal and River Trust has announced restrictions on visiting narrowboats have been lifted and short cruises for pleasure rather than necessity are permitted. What does this mean for us? We will explain.

Loved the noises emanating from the duck family when they came near - think you and they are going to miss each other when you move - and the moorhens too of course!
We went to our boat in Droitwich on Thursday , gave it a wash, had a picnic on board then drove home. So excited about the prospect of getting out on our boat. Can’t wait.
When a duck-mum enters another duck-mum's territory, she will sometimes panic, and abandon her brood. However, if the ducklings are about the same age, the mother who's territory the area is, will adopt the little duckies, and raise them as her own. If it wasn't for Attenborough, I'd know nothing about nature.

I can see you're both champing at the bit to get moving again, and we all thank you for your interesting vlogs during your quarantine days. Life will never be quite the same again, but I'm you two will adapt nicely. I love that you leave out the music and give us the pure sounds of nature when appropriate. It was great to see that family of ducks (?) grow up. See you soon when you move out and into the great unknown.

I am not a big DIY kind of a guy, and so i do find your vlog very much suited to my tastes, and i just love the pace it goes at, and the wonderful terms you sometime use, like 'fisher-people'!! And like 'Floating our Boat' i also enjoy your interaction with your animals, your cats and their dogs really are a joy, and really help to humanize your vlog.........................................Keep up the good work, and seeing i am in self isolation your vlog is a very pleasant way to pass the time, thanks and cheers from Australia!!

The Canadian public health folks have noticed the consumption of alcohol has increased by 40% over here since mid-March. That and legal cannabis means we're surviving foggily, but fine with bags and bags of crisps... Stay safe and glad to know you're both doing fine!

I have not been able to see my son and daughter and grandbaby since this whole thing started. So I started a new hobbie of watching people on their narrow boats in the UK.😄A great distraction from the mess we find ourselves in here🙄 Also I've taken up water color with Annemarie ❤️and I am thoroughly enjoying myself! I really admire the way that your government has handled this crisis and wish that I could say the same for our own😒

Before my US state declared a lockdown, I was feeling much stress and worry about what was going to happen. Once the new rules were clear, I was able to calm down. I hope that as you get more clarity about your situation you can relax a bit and keep your happy, cheery attitudes that we always see on video. Cheers!

May 23 2020, is the day my son and his fiancée are getting married. Their guest list has gone from over 100 people invited to 10 or so attending.
Indoor church wedding, to a a friends backyard, beside a lovely pond. It will still be a glorious day. Praying for a pleasant, sunny day.

Thanks both - interesting video. As a kayaker, CRT have allowed paddlesports back on the water so I was out today (sunday 17th) in glorious weather and enjoyed it immensely! My observation is there was a lot of walkers and cyclists having issues sharing the toepath, but suprisingly few anglers (which was nice). Hope narrowboaters are allowed to move soon - my experiance of boaters has always been lovely and I love seeing them out and about.

Thanks for sharing this update, as always! Very glad you're both healthy and safe, as that's most important. I'm looking forward to more cruising videos when you can, but it's been amazing to have your videos during the last few months. As soon as the web shop has your enamel pins in (I think you mentioned waiting on them a couple of videos ago), I'm waiting to order a set plus one of @nbminimalist maps, and other random bits. Definitely happy to support you both, because you're doing so much for so many of us in sharing these (and the pins are amazing, and I'm still in love w/ Jo's map).
I have seen the pins because they got delivered to my mother in law and she photographed them. They are adorable. I couldn’t be prouder.

Wow hearing about you guys and this virus thing, amazing me how you are going, here in south Australia I was lockdown for about 2 weeks, even thou it has affected my business still very slow, lockdown we were lucky only around 2/3 weeks. thinking of you guys always.
It's been harder for you on the painting side. Because so menu people started showing up on UA-cam showing how to paint and new folk that have also become boater. So many. Had a little look at them. But back to the ones I know all ready. Keep ringing my bell.

I’m looking forward to seeing new places you cruise to but I’m going to miss the wildlife you have in abundance at your mooring. I love seeing your footage of them all. I know there will be others as you cruise along but the ones we’ve been watching for weeks are like extended family 😂
Hi guys thanks for that hope all is well. I think it is going to be at least 4th July before I can move my boat as the marina sent out a message saying that as a leisure and hospitality business they would be one of the last to be allowed to lift lockdown, so that's another 7 weeks away. If I make an appointment I can visit the boat for an hour which I think I am going to have to do just to turn the engine over as it's been sat for 8 weeks already. As you know I hadn't been able to get out before lockdown because of the flooding problems on the Upper Trent but the good news is that this week I have been able to buy a long term mooring on the Ashby Canal from the CRT, it's only 30 mins from home so as soon as I can I will move the boat there and hopefully I will be able to get a lot more use of the boat so I'm looking forward to that. I would have to be out of the marina by end of September so I hope that will be enough time for the current difficulties to have eased. It will take about six days to cruise there. I know you enjoyed your visit to the Ashby and a lot of the other vloggers have also. Loved the footage of the ducks.

This pandemic is not over; God help the folks who have to return to crowded workplaces via public transport! I find it aggravating that money isn’t being used to maintain and replace water points, the number that have disappeared in the 35 plus years we were boating is sad. So many removed.
Thanks for the update on how the changes affect you. I foresee some essential travel if the changes allow hoards of walkers and anglers to visit your bit of canal from the 13th May but you can't travel away from them until the 1st June

Excellent start to the day
I'm sad, my mooring has been lovely and quiet for weeks , no boats, no engines running, no generators, no cars on the road, no noise at all, now its all coming back 😞😞😞😞
Good to see you are both well, I recently finished watching all your videos from the beginning. It was good to see you stop in West Drayton early on in your travels (was my hometown). I always used to cycle to work along that stretch of canal taking the Slough cut to Iver, don't remember you taking the Slough cut though ( I'm sure you'll correct me if I'm wrong). Now I live in Italy close to the sea and work for a company building cruise ships. Thankyou for giving me a little slice of home and the countryside of the UK.
We never went down the Slough cut you are right.
I realise you won't be going through Atherstone anytime soon but our volunteer team is putting together a provisional rota for June and I presume other teams are doing the same. Whether we will be back in action in June is unknown but if we get the go ahead we will be ready

when you both are able to move .why not cruise on the stratford canal.and moor up in the basin .stop a couple of weeks and sell your paintings.!! should be plenty of buyers??.great blog again .and i think CRT are going tell the vols when we can start up so you should get help moving from knowle.

Seems a bit silly that you can't stay overnight on your boat unless you were already "officially" liveaboard. The bureaucratic mind makes a living from pointless distinctions and needless control.

Margaret Leber The general public have enough trouble following simple rules, give them too other options and it would be chaos. The point about spending a night or two on a boat you own is like the second home argument- a trip to your boat may involve stocking up on shopping, buying petrol for the car, interacting with staff at a marina- all potential contacts. Surely it takes MORE bureaucracy to tailor specific rules that permit nights away from home etc than it does to issue blanket advice to everyone to stay home in your permanent residence, wherever and whatever that may be.

So sorry your first comment is a negative one. Oh well. Also, incase you want to not be embarrassed in the future a hair brush brushes the hair which will make it blow around more. The word you might be looking for is hair band. lol

We haven't had a notification from CRT about a months grace on the license, we have a leisure mooring and a license without a online mooring. Did you get an email about this. We could of done with I as we were dire straits over the lockdown . We were in contact with CRT over our financial difficulties and they hadn't mentioned this. Thanks for the video and information.

I have a gold license. The Environment Agency have given no grace, despite missing two months cruising. Ah well😟
