It was definitely Bob Marley that introduce me to reggae music and I love the old school. I kept hearing Sublime in your licks..good lesson for sure.🎶✌
My friends love Reggae, and I'm rather weak with it, so this lesson will help me expand in ways that should make everyone happy!!! Thanks, David! I love a lot of Reggae influenced bands like The Police and the Bad Brains!
I totally know what you are talking about with Exodus II in Chicago. I used to live by it. My buddy used o go there with the guys from Phish when they were in town also...
Awesome, I've watched all your videos since we went into lockdown in the uk and around the last Blues Saraceno lesson you did a few months ago.... Just started getting into playing Reggae on the guitar again last week and now you pop up with this Chordplay lesson! I don't like it Dave I Love it!
The Clash got me into reggae. They were a band unafraid of exploring different soundscapes, specially obscure genres like reggae dub. Their song Armaggedon Time is such a classic track for me.
Really appreciate this lesson David. I've been exploring reggae progressions with my guitar tutor for the past 6 months and most recently, we've been studying the different chord shapes and triads in the upper register. I found your lesson very helpful. Thank you for your awesome videos!
I really love your videos. Very helpful. A Jason Becker licks video would be great because his licks are difficult to work out and come from a wide range of influences. Thanks!
Great video, tab of chords would be great or even at beginning or end of video maybe close ups of chords, thanks for all your hard work on these lessons.
Hey David! Can't get enough of your videos, you have taught Me so much music, Thank You! I have a request , how about some Y & T. Thanks again for sharing your talent with us!
Great video, thanks. Re your list of influenced songs, for me by far the best reggae influenced Rush song is The Enemy Within from Grace Under Pressure. A classic. Another worthy mention is the solo section of Tokyo Nights by Krokus from Metal Rendez-Vous. (And while unrelated to the topic of this video check out Fire on that album if you don't know it. Some of the greatest solo playing ever.)
Thanks for the lesson and for the awesome tips! I think you might like a reggae band from Brazil called Natiruts. They use lots of interesting chords and tones in their songs. Keep rocking, man!
Another interesting topic and nice story on the topic of reggae. Btw have you listened to Bill Nelson of Be Bop Deluxe? Lots of nice major pentatonic runs.
You mention funk a few times, did you ever do a straight funk chord lesson? I saw a Parliament one, was looking for Nile Rogers or James Brown/Jimmy Nolen. Thx
@@jamesmarcin4787 @James Marciniec I was just making a joke because nothing is more "white-bread" then prog rock from Mississauga ( Toronto suburb in Canada) ... But actually ya your right, Neil Pert does lay down some "rock steady " staccato beats !
Its refreshing to see reggae being taught correctly with downstrokes, most dont however there is one aspect of your sound here that is absolutely ruining this lesson and thats your overdrive tone. Reggae rhythm is clean. Please consider turning it off and see how much better it sounds. Chords could be killed a little quicker too so they dont ring out so much.
Burning Spear will always be one of the most amazing musical experiences I ever witnessed live. Thanks for another great lesson.
Like that you mix up the lessons with different styles - I used to really be into the reggae group Third World
Great band!
Dam your a machine Brewski. Always a good story and history. I've learned more in the last 5 month than I have in years. You some stuff dog thx 🗿

A real treat to make you smile. Thank you.
Great lesson Brew-ski! I cant't wait for the funk lesson follow up.
Loved Bob Marley the first time I heard reggae music playing in a record store and immediately asked what it was .. and purchased Legend on the spot.
I totally know what you are talking about with Exodus II in Chicago. I used to live by it. My buddy used o go there with the guys from Phish when they were in town also...
Great lesson, Police pic in the background, perfect for this lesson

Neat. That's getting me fired up to explore. Thanks.
Thank you! These triads really are fun to tinker and get creative with!

Awesome shirt, David! Rush definitely worked Reggae into their tunes, occasionally.

As a guy who's been playing for years, this lesson goes kinda deep for beginners.
Great video, thanks.

Great lesson! Police´ Andy Summer surely uses upper extension like 9th and 11th!
Dude, I wish you would have played youuncle at 14 when your uncle took you the reggae bar. Thanks for sharing.
Great lesson.

Signals has a bunch too.😃
Thank you
Dave since you’re from Chicago ... how about an Umphrey’s McGee Chordplay or a 3 for 3 of Jake Cinniger? Great lesson today as usual.
I 2nd that!!! FaceMelter
Listen Ben Harper and the innocent criminals. Live at the Hollywood bowl. The Best reegae concert.
Listen to Alpha blondy.
You mention funk a few times, did you ever do a straight funk chord lesson? I saw a Parliament one, was looking for Nile Rogers or James Brown/Jimmy Nolen. Thx
Nice
Nice shirt
The way he talks/his voice in general reminds me a little bit of Terrance McKenna lolol
Hey Dave, any chance of a lesson with Ernest Ranglin.?
Opps, I commented before 2:44... shoulda known you would have a list lol
nothing screams reggae like a tshirt of a Canadian prog band !!!
Lol, Rush Signals has some Reggae influence for sure. Digital Man.

Sweet
Can you do the chords of curtis mayfield?
Mother and Child Reunion- Paul Simon
Bout time you do some reggae roots.. Its funny that a lot of good guitarist cant hold a reggae rythym
