Tech guy, I need your help. My oculus quest 2 bottom left camera isn't working, but nothing seems apparently wrong with it. Give me some tech tips to fix it
While I'm not an expert on repairing OQ2s, and there could be any number of things wrong, the easiest way to rule out a bad camera that isn't visibly broken would be to swap that camera with one from one of the other positions. If the problem follows the camera, then you know it's a bad camera. If the problem stays in the same location, even with one of the known good cameras, then it's going to be something with the rest of the unit; could be a bad connector, or something else with the mainboard, etc. If you do decide to give it a shot, do be careful with the small parts and proceed at your own risk. I could've also just flipped the switch on the power strip to off, but I was trying to replicate what it would do being plugged straight into a wall outlet and show that it would start running straight away. I appreciate the concern and you may be shocked (pun intended) to learn that, when I was younger and didn't have any of the tools I have now, I used to test mains AC coming into devices by briefly touching straight across both terminals with two fingers from one hand, never across the body, to see if there was any power present. I would also sometimes test step-up transformer circuits I would experiment with the same way. I don't do that anymore and I don't advocate anybody else do it either. I try to minimize risk now days and I try to make a mention anytime I do anything that is dangerous. Yes, some of the stuff I do may seem a bit sketchy, but nobody ever accused me of not being somewhat crazy. lol
