Personally: Would prefer shipped with NO battery on purpose. No leaks, no dmg.
Yeah it is the law in many countries BUT they could have included one in the case candy. Not sure what effect that has on Canadian import paperwork though.
Put one in the box ya dumdum
nimh would do.
fines for battery problems are huge....putting the word battery on customs papers can often mean the entire shipment will get held for 2++ weeks depending on the country how deeply stuffed the pickle is up that customs officers butt...glen could go to dollarama and get a battery and save ola some huge fines paperwork red tape and etc...maybe go steal one from a smoke detector for 10 minutes lol
adding a battery can put different customs and duties taxes on the whole shipments value...
you want a battery so bad youre willing to pay another $50 in taxes just so its in the package?
a $2 battery is a ridiculous risk and headache in reality...dont blame ola....blame your government
@@andremagnani dude it doesn’t mean he should knock the guitar tho, that’s kinda shitty
With the title I was expecting something much worse than a few scratchy frets and a missing battery. I think we all need a redo on this one, Glenn.
he got your click, that's all he cares about
Especially since they're the top frets where they can't scratch a finger anyway. Really nitpicking here.
@@DanJanTube yea but i unsubbed. old guy who can't actually shred or anything, too much shouting, too much drama, and now this. watching ola's channel with the time i wasted on this crap would've been more entertaining actually. no more clicks.
The battery isn’t a big deal but poorly finished frets aren’t cool on a guitar at this price.
@@grgwashnton23Yeah he’s not trying to teach technique or anything, dude knows gear and knows quality. You’re in the wrong place if you’re here for Ola level playing.
People who complain about stuff like this on Glenn’s channels clearly miss the point of his channel.
Call it nit picky, but the guy is holding everyone accountable and demanding quality instruments are sent to us. Dude is doing the entire community a service.
Dude! It is illegal in many countries to ship connected batteries. I know you can't ship them here in Japan.
But you can ship them not connected. Or not actually, theres plenty of airlines that would confiscate the battery.
@@cycomiles4225 Yeah, here in Japan they don’t allow it. They are strict in asking about batteries
@@shanewalton8888In Europe as well. I guess this did not come from Indonesia.
Dude, you can ship them separate with the rest of the gear, like the tremelo arm and the warranty.
In the States they always ask if there’s lithium batteries in whatever you’re shipping (along with any other hazardous materials) but I’ve never had somebody open the box and check.
Glenn should wear a blood pressure monitor during his videos and put the numbers on the screen as they change.
🤣🤘🏼
This would be awesome
That actually a genius idea 😂😂
Not including a 9 volt should not be a reason to call a guitar disappointing. Come on, Glen. lmao
Passive pickup dudes like myself had a chuckle with that one 😂
Clickbait titles are the rule of thumb now
Dude it's like $2000
@@davidbass3178 And a battery is 5 💀
Price you pay for a good guitar you should have a battery that comes with it
Assuming this was shipped from overseas, it’s possible there’s some sort of restriction that prevents them from shipping a battery with the guitar. Not saying that’s 100% what happened here, but it’s possible it wasn’t just an oversight in this case. Curious to find out the response on this one!
I live where Glen does and honestly Amazon won't even fucking ship wireless headphones dude, you have to walk into Best Buy or whatever. Definitely has to be the same sorta bullshit. Something about batteries or chargeable products not being able to ship to Canada, yet I can order a new $2000 Samsung phone? It's weird man
@@icankillbugs My two most recent purchases, from Ibanez and from Boss, both came with the battery. OBVIOUSLY they are just being cheap. Glen is right.
big copanies hit breakpoints on volue to get reduced shipping costs. it may be prohibitively expensive for them @@Tijuanabill
@@icankillbugs Both you and OP are missing the point that it's Li-ion rechargable batteries are banned for shipping, 9V are not. Batteries in phones have at least _some_ protection, especially in $2000 Samsung (unless they've fucked up like with Note 5).
@@Tijuanabill Bullsh1t, there are a lot of restrictions on shipping batteries, it's quite common knowledge....
says on their webpage that they ship WITHOUT battery! Reading helps ;-). Guess might have to do with shipment. I had a 9 volt battery buckle up/explode on an airplane travel with an active pickup guitar before. Maybe different rules pending on who you ship with and which countries are involved in the transit. I ordered a Solar a week ago, and I noticed the no battery statement then.
Well... I did a check out of my own curiosity: Yes they state battery not included on most guitars that need one, but NOT on the the page about the Wolfmaster!
This comment should be pinned here. Thanks for the hint and clarification. (I thought the same)

Battery shipping can be problematic. Warning labels. Additional custom inspections. Use your head Glenn 😂
This is what i was thinking too
Give him a break, he's not the smartest guy
@@SquishMeevidently
My thoughts exactly. Newish shipping regulations can make shipping batteries an issue. I'd imagine it could be even worse shipping internationally.
@@SquishMeI'm a bassist and come on Glenn
glenn i love your videos but isn’t it unfair to be PROFOUNDLY DISAPPOINTED over a minor filing issues on the higher frets and a lack of battery?
I have to agree. I was expecting hell knows what to be wrong. The battery is against the law to ship in many countries without an insane amount of paperwork and inspection delays by customs in multiple countries. And a minor issue that can be filed on an upper fret, which is a very common occurrence due to WC and/or a bit of fret sprout - likely the latter with shipping during a very wet season internationally? A bit dramatic here, lol. This isn’t like Glen. I wonder if he’s feeling ok, lol. Glen we ❤ you, but are you for real this time?!
For the same reason he injects his political opinions, you watch, dislike, comment, he cashes in. Your anger is money. Welcome to the internet.
Blame UA-cam. Their algorithm likes trashy, sensationalist clickbait titles for videos, so creators are sort of forced to do this if their income depends on it.
@MashaT22 If I were to spend the amount that this guitar attracts, I would expect it to be perfect. No filing or care should be needed immediately after it is bought.
I have a suggestion for renaming him Karen Fricker 🤷
I knew Solars are shipped without batteries because I've seen it on their homepage "Note: 9V Battery is not included.". It's not stated on every model shipping with active pickups though (like this V lacks the info, but for example the E1.6VINTER has it).
I just checked this out, 100,% true.
Amazing how much of an idiot glen is but he is fun to watch.
I can't imagine a middle aged man not having a drawer so full of spare batteries he can barely close it. Shame!
No "dad energy" with Glenn, that's for sure....
Imagine it’s easy if you try
Even if he doesn't have said drawer, I bet there's a handful of guitars with a working 9V battery in reach for a quick donation... *cough* the Harley Benton failure *cough cough*
Especially one that runs a recording studio, I find it hard to believe someone who has been doing it for as long as he has hasn't had a pickup battery die mid--session before and learned to have spares on hand just in case.
he actually said he just ran out of 9v batteries
11:00
It’s a 9V battery. It’s gonna be ok . 😂
Disappointment achieved 😂
Don´t know about Canada laws, but some countries forbid by law to ship batteries, maybe that´s what this is about, looks incredible though
Not gonna lie, I'm surprised batteries aren't on your list of extra equipment in the studio to keep in reserve. They're as crucial as a good cable, and just as likely to run into an issue.
Yeah not having a battery isn’t an issue for me personally. Sometimes battery’s can leak and cause issues if the guitar ends up being stored in some warehouse or something before being shipped out. So I think that is actually a good thing if it doesn’t ship with a battery in the guitar.
Totally agree.
This. I always assume that it won't come with a 9v and am "pleasantly suprised" when it does. In fact, I usually swap out the batteries anyways so I know how long the battery has been used. Also, what guitar/producer guy doesn't have a drawer of batteries!?
Ever heard of including a battery separate from the guitar? Like in the bag with the trem arm and warranties? LIKE EVERYBODY ELSE DOES IT?
Also who doesn’t keep a stash of nine volts in your house for your smoke detectors and random guitar equipment? 😂
@@chaptermasterpedrokantor1623 if a battery starts leaking from heat or getting pierced by something, it doesn’t matter where it’s located. I’d rather it not be in the bag or in the guitar. I have bought a brand new guitar from schecter before and the battery was leaking in the bag from being pierced by something knocking around in the bag before and the trem arm that was in that bag had battery acid all over it….And yes, most of the time, the 9volts that come along are cheap ones that crap out anyways. I would be replacing the battery that is included regardless, like MOST pro players will do anyways. So I really don’t think they have to be included.
Thought it was pretty common to have spare 9Volt batteries lying around, I only have one guitar with active pickups, but I have around 4 spare batteries, just incase. Seems odd to own a recording studio and complain about a lack of batteries, I imagine Glenn has other guitars with active pickups that run on a 9volt, where he could just borrow a battery from.
Or they could just include it, like every single other guitar maker and pedal maker, in the Milky Way galaxy.
lol valid points. But I think he is just cashing the drama and his dissapointment of not being able to demo the guitar right there on the spot. He already bought a battery and is probably uploading the actual demo right now.
@@jaconova That's a solid point, I was thinking that aswell half an hour after I watched it. A litte overreaction is good at time.
@@Tijuanabill huh, I bought a couple of new pedals and they shipped without a battery. Different laws for different countries I guess.
@@dindinbre I just bought a new bass with active EQ and it shipped without a battery. I don't recall any of my past pedals or active guitars coming with a battery either. I actually prefer it this way. Imagine an instrument sitting for months or even years in a warehouse with a battery in it... it will eventually start leaking and corrode the compartment.
glenn i think you dropped the ball on this one ... some countries you cant shipp bateries ... and there is risk of leaking too
Sorry.. but this is probably the first time i think it's right of the guitar company. They shouldn't send a battery in the guitar because the risk of that battery going bad during shipping is high.. should it say on the site that it doesnt come with a 9v battery.. idk if it does. None of my guitars through the years have arrived with a 9V battery.
Yeah, it would corrode from humidity, leak its contents and become a toxic cargo when shipped
It does say batteries not shipped with guitar's on there website.
Glen, how the heck do you not have rechargeable 9-volt batteries? Hint, get some lithium versions, they rock.
@torchlord11 Been meaning to transition from NiMhs to Lithium. Can you recommend any brands/models you've had success with? Thanks!
he's trolling bro
@@DanJanTubethey do exist, tho. I’ve been wanting to buy some rechargeable 9v but Amazon won’t ship ‘em.
@@TechnoRiff My suggestion would be just to look at multiple reviews by searching best 9-volt batteries for 2023. The last batteries I bought were Maximal Force 9-volt 560 Mah, and I'm guessing you can get more Mah these days. Look for ones that give the largest amount of recharge cycles. Some of the newer ones come with a USB C port so you don't even have to buy the charger. I see one brand from EBL gives a 2-way splitter so you can charge 4 nine-volt. The last lithium battery I bought was a Kentl lithium AA battery that came with its own 4 port charger. They didn't have the USB C port built into each cell, but I didn't want that at the time, It seemed to make more sense than having the USB C port taking up space on the battery itself.
@@torchlord11 All makes sense; thank you!
Most countries won't allow you to ship battery's, they are a health and safety hazard. Also imagine if that battery leaked all over the matte finish
Especially if you're shipping in/from the EU.
Whilst I usually respect Glenn ... He has other active guitars. Why was there no fishing a battery out of one of them???
@@NotMrDaineMaybe indonesia lets them be, but EU countries shipping is not kind to batteries, as far as I know.
@@NotMrDaine i bet it's for views... otherwise it would just have been "unboxing another solar v-guitar" (also tells there's not a lot to be disappointed about the guitar itself i guess)
what about cargo ships that catch fire in the middle of the ocean filled with electric cars filled with batteries?
@@mrallen8946 the batteries are disconnected so they can't complete a circuit. However there is usually a battery in the box separately, like when you buy a pedal. So this argument is moot given Glenn already made that exact point.
I just got my SOLAR with Evertune today as in just now, so far it's amazing. Setting it up with new strings to drop A#, and I can't see any problems with it. The neck is smooth, sits comfortably, no noise at all, locking tuners made the setup so easy to do. I'm buying another when it comes time.
When I tested a Solar, got the same battery problem and yes, Solar confirmed me it's a safety/regulation issue. So it's normal and they can't do anything about it
This was a weird episode, I feel this was very petty. Im profoundly suprised. So the only real complaint was one very high up fret needed 2 minutes of memory board time? The battery talk was insane to even bring up. Like I said, very surprised by you in this episode.
And it says right on the Solar website that the battery is not included, so it shouldn't be a surprise
I think it was part of the fun of this episode. Like, he's not serious.
It feels not in good faith tbh, and to be fair some people may not even watch the video....
Exactly@@mattl4925
but... it's Glenn :D@@mattl4925
Glen did this video need to be published before you could edit in a sample of this guitar with a battery?
Surely every studio has spare 9v batteries, for bass players?
On my solar, there is a QC stickers with initials on the back plate covering the electronic next to a sticker with the model name. And yeah, no batteries on my Vinter V1.6 and I didn't throw a tantrum
There is all kinds a shipping rules now when shipping batteries, especially internationally DHL. Often resulting in DHL “inspecting” the package. Probably better off not having the battery disclosure label on the box.
You could have taken out a battery from one of the guitars hanging around. Also I am not sure but carrying batteries on planes might not be allowed everywhere due to explosion risks.
lol explosion risks
Well done. This could’ve been an email and you turned it into a 13 minute monetized video. Multiple monetizations too. Bravo.
Send that guitar to me. I have a 9V right here.
Was there a disclaimer that said batteries aren't included somewhere either during purchase or on the shipping package?
Thanks for the new video. I listen to them while driving.
Are you ever gonna do a podcast or post some of the audio on Spotify?
Homepage: 9v not incl.
I hope one day I reach the level where I can have a fit over getting a new guitar sent to me…but having to go to pick up a 9V battery for it.
As a lefty, I’ve learned to tolerate a lot but also understand that not everything is worth having a meltdown over.
You have a few active guitars in the studio, none of them had a working battery inside them that you could use?
I think this is a bit nitpicky, Glen. I'd look up if there are restrictions to shipping batteries overseas. Some countries get really difficult when it comes to batteries, they may have erred on the side of caution.
Besides, why don't you have those as a spare? I have a couple of rechargeable ones laying around just for things like this.
Glenn? Disappointed with something? Constrenation uproar!
Just take one out of another guitar to try it. Love your stuff, mate ❤
Awesome shirt Glenn!!!...love Kyuss
If you are buying an active guitar, surely you would buy a battery alongside it too?
In my country shipping with batteries is not allowed either. But I always have backup batteries stocked in my battery drawer. You should consider having extra backups too. :)
The unboxing animation has me cracking up 😂
lol how do you not have 9volts at home?
I keep some rechargeable 9 volts around for just this situation, my LTD 6 string bass has an active EQ and won't work without a battery either. And like other posters, I would be worried about battery leakage; how long did that thing sit before it was purchased, could be awhile for some instruments.
Howdy Glennnnnnn! Didn't you have a V from a Polish(?) company that was made of compressed paper? Do you still have it, and if so, have you played it much? Do you still like it? Just curious.
I believe you're looking for RUF guitars?
I thought Swedish meant it came flat packed, requiring assembly and batteries not included Ikea style
😂
I think the no battery thing might be affected by the non flight shipping of lithium batteries. It affects non lithium ones aswell.
why didn't you pull a battery out of one of your pedals or other guitars?
I get it...but what guitar player does not have a surplus of 9V batteries?
I'm pretty sure the lack of batteries has to do with restrictions on shipping them internationally. There are ways to do it, but they have very specific requirements on packaging and often are VERY limited, for instance being limited to a pair or perhaps 3 AA or AAA batteries, for something like a remote.
could have taken the Schecter battery
Happy birthday Harley Benton. Get well soon. Luv me Some Glenn!
My Solar Vinter also shipped with no battery, I'm glad it didn't in fact.
All Solars state on the website that they don’t come with a battery. It actually surprised me too initially but, no biggie
Looks like this week's Butthurt of the week is Glenn himself :D
Sorry mate, but for such long distance shippings it'd even make sense to ship without a battery. Ask Ola and he'll spend you the missing 50 cent for that battery 😀
lol around 3-4 dollars in my country. Claerly is not about the money but the inconvenience of not being able to play the guitar on the spot.
@@jaconova Just remember Glenn's last DHL package. I'd rather not have a broken battery inside such an expensive guitar.
I ordered something that was supposed to come with batteries included. Just little button cell batteries. The shipper out of China refused the package and sent it back to the sender because it had batteries in it. They sender had to open my item at the warehouse, remove batteries, re-package, and send it out again. Delayed the arrival by three weeks. I wonder if my experience is becoming more common so batteries just aren’t being included in overseas shipping as often.
Do you not ha e a 9 volt in any of your pedals you could "borrow" until you get to the store? I understand the point of not being sent one but just saying
Cmon glen you’re telling me there’s not one 9V battery in that whole studio? I’m tryna to hear that guitar chug
Running a studio and being a guitar player but not having a single 9 volt battery around. 😂
Yo that mix was sick. Will it be released? Shazam can't find it.
Why couldn’t you have taken the battery out of one of the 4 other guitars you showed that has a 9v?
A few minutes now. You should have got the 9v right? Show us how it sounds, now!
If you work a lot with active pickups you should probably have a bulk pack of 9 volts. :)
Dude ... I bought a £1900 Dingwall bass and it came with no battery. I got onto Dingwall about it and they said batteries are not allowed to be shipped in guitars. I was as pissed off as you after shelling out that amount of money but it's standard practice now apparently.
By the way, any news on the ELE update? I'm sitting here drooling on what it's got promised.
Was the background song when you were inspecting the guitar “Ham Sandwhich”?
Solar really just hit you with "Batteries Not Included"
You cant ship batteries on planes without going through a bunch of bs fees and stuff
i love the moans! :) look forward to hearing it !
Can singularity be used as an amp sim or is it only midi, love the tones but our bass player is an exception to rule #2
Lots of people don't ship batteries for various legal or practical reasons and it explicitly states no battery on the site. Kind of hissy fitting there, bud.
“ the non shitty version of Gibson, epiphone.” Thanks for makin me feel better about my budget gear glen 😂
Nice shirt man. My favorite Kyuss album.
I can take a wild guess about how it sounds: like the amp and the cab would with any other humbacker pickup in it? ;)
As daft as guitarists can be, keeping a spare rechargeable 9V in your collection for a tuner, or pedal, electroacoustic or Active Pickups is essential. You never know when you might need one and any piece of hardware that needs them is going to run out of that juice the moment you depend on it.
I'm not sure if you let this down by not having one, (hint, theres always a spare in the fire alarm) or if Solar could have packes one but as others have suggested it would likely cause issues with shipping.
Yeah I don't understand how mad he is, you need it for active pickups or a tuner or pedals. As SUCH a professional - if a guy's battery runs out - he doesn't have another?
Most normal people would stop recording, get up off their fat ass and go to the shop and buy a damn battery.
But good on you Glen….you just won this weeks butt hurt of the week 🤘🏼
Yup. There’s a mic drop for ya.
You run a studio and don't have spare 9Vs?
Like don't you want to have a backup for tracking guitars or bass with active pickups?
For those on the battery front, you can put one of those plastic tabs between the contacts and the connector without needing to ship it separately wrapped.
Glenn’s that guy who emails the whole office about someone leaving the toilet seat up and mysteriously doesn’t receive an invite to drinks 🤔
You "have to go to the store to pick up a 9-volt"??? You MUST have another active pickup guitar/bass somewhere close by; just switch the MOFO out... I mean, what the fuck, chuck?😂
You could mod the input jack to another place on the jackson guitar. No 9 Volt battery in a music studio?
Surely you had another active pickup guitar you could steal one out of for the video?
really makes you appreciate the tonewood on this one
One thing I love about my V is regardless if I am sitting or standing it is relatively in the same spot. This means I do not have to adapt the ways I fret or pick as much as I do on other guitars when changing stance.
Could've taken a 9v out of any of the other active pu guitars?
You run a professional studio and you don't have a 9v battery somewhere?????
Personally: I don't recall a time where batteries were included. I've also never been in a recording studio that didn't have 9 volt batteries hanging around 😯
That being said, I'm sure it's occurred in both situations.
Hey Glen! I was wondering if you could do a review on the Fender Champion 100 XL or the Fender Champion 100. They're both highly affordable 2x12 solid state combo amps. I've been using the standard 100 for a while and I think with the help of a pedal or two it can sound pretty damn great! I'd like to see a professional's opinion on it.
PS. Great video as per usual!
been a fan for many years, but what a baby.
I use N.O.S carbon 9 volt batteries from the 70's for a more "vintage" tone. I think Solar trust their customers intelligence to choose the battery that suits their individual tone preferences.😅
You definitely get it.
Glenn i love your channel dont blame the guitar blame youself for not having spare 9v batteries thats on you not solar 😂
Does shipping batteries open you up to different shipping regulations? Maybe that’s why it’s not included.
Could it be that they have had issues with shipping batteries? I know in europe we've been having a lot of issues whenever something with a battery ships.
Yeah, like others have said, shipping things with batteries can be problematic as all batteries are classified as dangerous goods when being shipped by air.
A studio with no 9v around? What kind of studio is this? lol
That T-shirt is absolutely freakin badass my friend! The first guitar I ever learned on was an AriaPro 2 V!!

Glenn, usually i really like your reviews, but i don't agree on your point with the battery. Imagine that guitar sitting in the warehouse waiting to be shipped with a battery in it. Batterys usually don't like to be thrown around or just sitting around for too long. They will explode at some point. I understand your plug and play approach, but i'd much rather just throw in a battery than having to clean its toxic remainings out of there. Sorry if my english is not perfect...
They can put one in the gig bag
