Thanks. I have these all over my Swiss Chard and nasturium, which happened to be next to my bush beans. I didn't know what these insects were but took photos and none of the insect apps knew what they were. But you figured it out for me. I just ripped all the plants out.
Good luck

The stink bugs had attacked my tomatoes so bad I just pulled them every tomato had spots all over them. I dont know why but those two bugs just over ran my garden this year
They are problematic in many gardens. Good luck next year

@@THERUSTEDGARDEN thank you and same to you.
Mexican Bean Beetles were certainly having a fiesta on those bean plants! Hope the child that was probably growing them wasn't too disappointed. Something similarly skeletonized my fall cucumber plants, it happened literally overnight. I came out in the a.m. & was aghast, didn't find evidence of what had done it. Drastically removed most leaves, sprayed peppermint oil spray, fed fish fertilizer. Cuc's are slowly coming back.
We keep enough plants going to make up for losses and teach off the infected. That is a good way to manage the cucumbers.

What your doing is wonderful & teaching them the problems & solutions young is a fantastic gift for them. Please excuse my emotional reaction, I must have been thinking of how I felt when I was a very small kid I asked permission to plant in a small corner of my fathers vegetable garden, he forgot & plowed it up. I didn't know, & I waited all summer & nothing sprouted, I was disappointed {However I didn't give up lol!😁}
I’m looking forward to those 3 min videos
Yep. More to come

Those tear up my butternut squash! Less this year than last, but they'll get on everything.
Pest are an ongoing problem. A nice freeze here would be good to knock some back over the winter.

This year I tried inter-cropping marigolds with my bush beans and pole beans. I didn't get any Mexican Bean Beetles at all. I did have some Japanese Beetles attack the pole beans and I used Rotenone to control them.
Cool. Glad that worked

Will peppermint oil kill honey bees
Not that I am aware of. I have 100's of bees flying around and no noticed issues

@@THERUSTEDGARDEN thank you
I just found an Emerald Euphoria Beetle in my garden. I identified it but that website didn't say if it was harmful. Do you know anything about those beetles? I'm going to do some more research on them. Thanks. Great video,. I've never seen those insects and I hope I never do
They will devour any fruit, they go after my peaches and apples every year, if I let them. You have to treat the ground around your trees or crops with beneficial nematodes to get their grubs.
@@sparkysmalarkey Thanks for the heads up. This fellow is so lost lol, right now I have nothing growing but some peppers, some sweet potatoes and some green bean blossoms. He'll starve here. It must have been blown in from a storm because I've never seen one of these in Florida. I let it go last evening. I will try and find it and get rid of it. Thanks again,. Happy Gardening 🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋
That one I dont know but if they lay eggs on garden plants, they usually eat the plants.

@@shirleyk623 They are excellent pollinators, they like nectar, you may not need to kill it if you don't have any fruits growing. You would know when you have a problem, there will be thousands of them.
I have a raised bed garden and the Mexican bean beetle decimated my green beans. Is it okay to use those plants in my compost pile and should I do anything to the soil as there seems to be a lot of the larva on top on the soil as well?
That is fine. They found your plants once. The key is preventive sprayer or dusting next time.

I have been fighting spider mites and white flies all summer. Was using a blend with neem, it seemed to slow them down somewhat. Then finally got the cold compressed neem oi you suggested, and have sprayed everything three times now over the past two weeks and really don't see much improvement. They've covered my hedges and ornamental grasses and jumped from the hedges to the strawberries in my stalk ☹️☹️☹️. I'm almost considering cutting down the hedges. They are so loaded with webs it looks like we decorated early for Halloween. How do I get rid of these things? I keep trying to grow things but between the bugs and the animals, I'm losing the battle. I'm seriously thinking of giving it up trying to grow anything and I really don't want to do that. Thank you for all you do to teach what you know. I had no idea there were so many pests for each vegetable or fruit you grow.
So I think peppermint oil works the best on spider mites. I might try the peppermint oil in 1/2 of the infected plants and see if it impacts them. Peppermint oil you could really spray every other day. 1 to 2 teaspoons per gallon of water and soap to disperse it. Sometimes it takes a season to find the best sprays.

Those things devoured my beans. I pulled them all after 2 weeks they went from your first pic to the second one. Burned all the plants.
They destroyed my 2nd round of pole beans. Completely shredded them. Didn’t get a single bean from them.
They do eat that fast.

I like these short, to the point, informative videos! My bean plants look the same, but mine were attacked by a green caterpillar on the underleaf. So peppermint oil as a preventative, Neem oil once infested. Got it. BTW, I'm on the west coast, so I haven't seen this particular beetle but I'll know exactly what it is if I do. Thank you.

But what do the adult beetles look like? I thought you were going to show us that.
The larva do the damage but they look like ladybugs the are yellow with spots.
They start yellow and get darker to orange here. They are an annual battle for me, so I'm familiar with every life stage. Gary probably hasn't seen them get orange because he is smarter than me and gets rid of them faster. 🤣
