Stuff like this only ends up damaging relationships with brick-and-mortar and online partners when they inevitably bomb. With so many figures ending up there, they need to seriously consider giving Ollies an exclusive.

Boys, boy, boys. You just don't get it. Credit collection, bad figure selection and Holocomm are there to feed a niche sector of the collecting community - the Peg Warmer Ultras. Last weekend on IG, under Yak’s Haslab post, I suggested that Hasbro actively fleecing their customers because they have no misgivings about exploiting our fandom. The amount of blowback I received from Hasbro’s loyal evangelists was eye-rollingly vehement. Yet here we are again. Defenses that they have to exploit tooling in multiple ways disregards the relentless, satellite lines on offer, all with unique molds that are practically stocked directly into clearance aisles. Tooling does not cost what they would have you believe. That we are nearly 50 years into the existence of Star Wars toys should imply that selling this stuff is a science yet the company seems to be run by executives who have nothing more insightful to offer than, “turn the nerds upside down and shake them HARDER.” After the insult that was the Tonnika sisters last week, I cancelled so many, many preorders. And I will be especially critical of the impulse to collect Hasbro SW in the future. I may be a fan, but I’m not as gullible as Hasbro seems to think.

I'm not defending Hasbro specially on some things they have done recently but the one thing I defiantly disagree with a lot of people is haslab , there is literally no law far as my knowledge that says companies depending on their status are forbidden from doing fun raisers and at the end of the day all haslabs are consumer choice and their is nothing wrong with it , if people don't want it then don't back it but in this case people did want the cantina set and it just got backed by peoples choice now I myself don't think it was worth the asking price but other people did , it got backed and that's that but yet people treat haslab as the most evil thing in the world and I find it sad and crazy that something that is peoples choice is hated this much and that right their shows how petty people can be over something like this .

Literally the only two Hologram figures that I would get are Palpatine or Leia. And they are also taking away from the budget which is preventing them from making other figures, like Kelnacca.

I have said for a while that anytime there is a decision made regarding these toy lines that is so completely baffling from a potential business sales standpoint, that there is a 99.9% chance that the decision is being made in response to Disney as the license holder. (You don’t ask collectors to buy a $500 lightsaber from a character that no one knows about from a brand new tv show, as they did with the Reva saber Haslab). No one in their right mind would make that business decision. They obviously have to put out a certain amount of figures/product to coincide with new media within certain time frames. Nothing could be more obvious.
There were decisions made on the Indiana Jones 6” line that were complete headscratchers with no other explanation besides a directive from Disney.
THE DEFINITION OF CLONE IS BASED ON REPLICATING FOR PETES SAKE. the reuse is built into the property! The money prints itself. Hasbro knows this, but they have contractual obligations to satisfy else they lose the license.
These holocomm figures are just the latest example of being tied to contractual terms for product releases and is the only explanation for literally sitting on the automatic money printing opportunity this property comes with in the form of just releasing clone repaint after clone repaint.
One thing that did occcur to me is I wonder if they are holding off on doing a Leia holocomm until they release the recently announced new version of ANH Leia? Could explain the absence of that character from that subline.

people forget that Hasbro is licensed by Disney to make star wars toys so if Disney comes knocking on Hasbro door and tells them they want these figures made for whatever crap Kathleen Kennedy is pulling out of her arse then Hasbro has no choice to make them or loose that license , I can tell when Hasbro has the freedom to make any figure of star wars characters people actually like too Disney telling them to make figures out of characters people hate with a passion .

This was a rare day where the overwhelming majority of reveals were complete slam dunk passes for me. I threw a pre-order on Osha because I'm enjoying the show at the moment but that could change of course. I'm looking forward to some clearance holocomm pucks from these other releases lol

the only black series figure i preordered the day they put these up for order was the re-release of jedi fallen order kal kestis. i sold him off long time back and regreted it. so, now i will have him and rex back in my hands again soon. i also preordered the acolyte retro collection set. cause i am getting out of black series and focusing a lot more on my retro collection figures instead. already sold off a great deal of my black series. the only set i kept of my black series was my favorite OT movie which is ROTJ. i fell behind too much on the black series and too much is out there to keep up with now. so, that is where i stand with all of it.

You're better off just getting a solid piece off Etsy. Maybe two if you want different poses. And the Shin... man, it's like rubbing salt in the wound. The first figure already wasn't good, but to release it with soft goods? Ouch.

Ezra appears as a hologram but it's not this type of hologram, because his clothes clearly have color in his hologram. This is such fail.

They have a brand-new Leia pipeline, so that’s why you probably haven’t gotten the hologram one.
The light doesn’t travel all the way through the figure because of the joints. Sew on a Robo video where he had a solid blue Emperor, the light went right through it.

I've been enjoying The Acolyte so far, so I'll probably pick up Osha and I missed Shin the first go around, so I'll probably pick up this one. But the holocom figures... Man, even as someone who likes weird repaints, these just don't do anything for me. I just have no idea who that line is for.

Easy pass on all The Acolyte figures. I just don't care about the High Republic stuff. I would grab the prison transport droid if they made one, cos droid. But otherwise meh. On the plus side, I need some budget for Monster Force and Animal Warriors of the Kingdom, so can save some pennies on Black Series releases.

I wonder if Disney/LucasFilm subsidizes Hasbro to make figures that potentially won't sell. Corporations are not known for their smarts, but I am sure they must have been burnt enough over the past few years to not want to make these figures.
These decisions on character selection definitely come from Lucasfilm/Disney to a very high degree. -Justin
I'm really enjoying The Acolyte and I'm all in on the TBS figures. Except that awful holocomm figure. Osha I think is what the ideal TBS character release should look like in terms of accessories. Like we do not need the alternate droid configuration. If they had just packed in the regular one no one would have cared that much. But they put that little bit more effort in which is commendable, if they did that more consistently across the line there might not be quite so much negativity in the collecting community about it.

I honestly believe all these repacks etc. we are seeing right now are a subliminal Haslab to fund all the new unique sculpts that has a lot of accessories too.
Because it sure seems like it's suddenly possible to inlcude a lot now AND a unique/new sculpt.

Now i didnt collect the credit figures but it is an interesting point that those figures did in a way serve a purpose, the little credits were cool as props and the figures being based on the concept art from the credits (was the name of the line also a pun?) of The Mandalorian. Holocomm could serve a purpose if they just used better characters ie every Jedi council member.

The Holocomm Collection is one of the most ridiculous mistakes ever made by Hasbro; baffling. Holocomm figures yet we still lack a post-2019 quality figure of EpisodeIII Anakin/Vader.

As soon as Acolyte episode 3 was over I cancelled all my Acolyte pre-orders. They're going to be on deep discount if I decide I want them. So far I doubt I'll get them either way. They spent 180 million on that garbage.

@@OutOfTheBasement Nate the number one thing that bothers me the most about made for TV Star Wars is what they could've been. Not many media corporations can throw 180 million at a TV show and it seems like that kind of money could've bought way better writing and acting. Instead of a large production made with an insane amount of money from a powerful corporation it seemed like a well funded UA-cam fan channel production. I especially had this same feeling with BOBF and Obi-Wan.
Great intro, especially Nate’s OotB theme song and harmonica playing. The outro duet was top notch. I’ve reduced my Black Series buying considerably so don’t plan to purchase any of these figures. That is bad for Hasbro to release the same figure but with a highly coveted accessory to get people to buy the same figure twice. I’m more vested in DC Multiverse line and it seems McFarlane Toys follows that practice quite a bit with heads. Instead of packaging a figure with multiple heads the figure will be sold separately with the different heads, hate that.

I enjoyed the Star Wars Blues harmonica more than the figure reveals. You were both just playing around and I want to buy a full album. Hasbro was serious with their offering and instead of buying these figures, I will use that money towards therapy for the trauma I endured seeing the promotional images.

I MAY pick up Osha but when it chose to clearance, same with all the Acolyte figures. I already have so many preorders already and the show isn't impressing me so far, but we'll see if it improves or not. Absolute no on those holocomms tho. And Shin's a no too. I've modified my Shin's head to look a little more like her but haven't fix the legs yet. And eventually I plan on getting custom cloaks for her and Baylan.

I used to be a serious SW figure collector until the Force Awakens. Just have had no desire to own any toys for any of the new shows. I liked the first 2 seasons of Mandalorian but everything else is so bad it actually makes me dislike the franchise to a certain extent now. Plenty of other toy lines to collect.

Nope, passing on all of these and passing on Acolyte figures all together. I only picked up one of the Kenobis from that show and Andor and his droid from that show. I'm getting much more selective as I too am low on shelf space and would rather save room for figures from the OTC.

do we think they just have an excess of clear blue plastic and are just trying to purge it via the cheapest molds 🤣 most of the decisions for the holocomm collection have been so weird to me, other than vader, that version of ezra is one of the few that's made sense (in terms of them being scene specific technically)

I’m a pass for all these. Really with the Ahsoka duo we’re better made and gave us the robes from start. And the way they’ve treated all the Acolyte Jedi just makes me even angrier at the whole process. Why do they and that show deserve the quality and respect?
They typically always go all out for the new Media figures. Ahsoka being the exception but Kenobi and the others had tons of newly sculpted figures with soft goods like Acolyte.
@@OutOfTheBasement I’ve never seen Jedi treated this way except for Luke & Obi-wan from Kenobi series. He did get some soft goods. I’m not complaining if this is the new standard for Jedi moving forward. But I’m skeptical.
@@matto5704 That’s why I said New Media figures as in stuff from the Disney + shows. New sculpts, more piece count, paint. It’s pretty much across the board for them. Jedi have always had issues but these are only getting special treatment BECAUSE they are from a New Media show.

Glad I can just save some money. I’ll pick up the Osha but everything else just isn’t my thing. I try to get as much as I can but I’m not a completionist anymore and there’s a freedom in just going “Nah, I don’t want it” and not spending the $24.99-27.99 instead of buying the shiny new thing I’m not crazy about but felt obligated to.
Oh yeah not being a completionist is the way to go. Picking and choosing makes for a much more fun and curated experience! -Justin

I don’t have a Shin and if they had fixed her height I might have grabbed her but for me it’s a pass. This type of shenanigans is why I mostly don’t buy black series anymore. I just wish TVC got as many characters as black series.
Just pass on what you don't like and pick up the ones you do like. I don't see it as a reason to drop the line as a whole. -Justin
@@OutOfTheBasement if it’s a character that’s a favourite or a figure I really like I absolutely pick it up. Can’t wait for my Ki-Adi Mundi to arrive. But I don’t pick up multiples of troopers and the like. Plus I’m Australian so figured cost a lot more here and are harder to find.

The only candidate for Holocomm that I would purchase, if I were a TBS collector, is Leia. Vader is coming, it’s up on the Pulse China website. But Leia established it. Outside of standing up to Vader and shooting the Stormtroopers to help her rescuers or comforting Luke after Obi-Wan’s death, this is THE Leia moment. That message started the entire thing along with the backstory told by Obi-Wan.
This will be a day long remembered. It’ll have seen the rise of more pegwarmers and the slap in the face to the day-one collectors.

I am skipping on all of these figures. I love Shin Hati and putting out that garbage photoreal face was an insultment to the utter beauty that Ivanna Sakhno is. I would love to have her an Baylan Skoll in the Mix but those releases are garbage and so I am skipping.
I am a big fan of Carbonized and Credit Collection lines 1. Because I like the shiny carbonized and the funky CC looks and 2. Most of the time you get those figures pretty cheap after the release (I got CC Ashoka for 12€ for example) But I am not interested in the Holocomm line at all. Maybe in deep sale some day when I have to much money and it is burning a whole in my pocket.
But there are also a lot of great releases lately like the Droideka, Ki Adi Mundi, the Ashoka Clone 2 Pack and the Battle Droid etc. But it is alright when there is no new BS releases I can spent more money on some sweet NEca Aliens and Predators.😁
