So, am I correct that DUPR does not look at your actual playing to determine your skill? But rather goes by the ratings of you beat and scored points against?
From what I gather, unless you are playing on the pro circuit, DUPR ratings are pretty much a joke. I've been watching a lot of videos of players with DUPR numbers that seem ludicrous. I watch 4.5 rated players players who look average at best. And I've seen 3.5 rated players absolutely dominate "higher" rated players. It is the most inaccurate system actually. There are no controls or checks and balances. Congratulations for programming an algorithm to be used for this purpose. However, there are too many variables with no quality control, and no way to ensure the outcome actually reflects reality. '''''' Also, I have been playing rec games at my local court. When I found out what a couple players ratings were, I was astonished. Artificially high in my estimation. Yet I read stories about people whose ratings were artificially lowered by the system based on one event. Or no event.
Maybe do a video for new users or entire cities where Pickleball players don't use DUPR, like Edmonton, Alberta. Maybe provide forms in PDF to be distributed to popular pickleball gyms where nobody uses DUPR. You need UX, quality control, to walk into a population of seniors who have accumulated centuries of bad apps and software.
Let me start by saying that while DUPR is a novel idea, there are many shortfalls which lead to inaccurate ratings. 1) There is no ability to separate actual tournament results from league results. Some players absolutely choke in tournaments so there is a monumental difference. Nor are there separate categories ie Men's doubles, Men's Singles, Ladies doubles, Ladies singles, or Mixed doubles. 2) There is no quality control. Anyone can create fake accounts to boost their rating. 3) How can an accurate ranking be generated if a group of players create a club and only play among themselves? It's impossible especially if none of them have any actual tournament results in a particular category or categories. Unfortunately because Pickleball has been expanding rapidly tons of people are jumping on the bandwagon to make money and not to ensure consistency and accuracy. Hopefully the app is upgraded to provide realistic and accurate categorized results.
Other players can sniff out a sandbagger or a wanna-be. dUPR is just to get an idea where they stand. Plus DUPR shows list of games the player played in with what type of games they played in like made up games with a group, league, games, tournament.....its like a credit score. Tournament games should be weighted more and would be looked at for more accuracy
@golfmaniac007 No where in my comment do I mention "sandbagger". That's a separate issue and continues to be allowed in almost every tournament because it's all about the $$$. I've seen many players with a ranking above 4.0 playing events listed as 3.5 or less. When they cream their opponents their ranking continues to increase. This should never be allowed, but it's the norm. Pickleball orginazation has a long way to go when compared to Tennis.
@jzlee3904 It is very weird that you can, and have to enter tournament data into DUPR system by youself, which should be closed to public. doing so as in golf hadicap system, it is so easy for players to do whatever they need so that doing sandbagging easily.

Braverman is such a great player!
My DUPR rating changes often and I haven’t turned in a score in months. Why?

The guy in the black shirt was such a condescending pr!ck to the guy in the white hat. Don’t be so jelly that he was actually being entertaining.
