Launching of the South Cotabato Consolidated Rice Production and Mechanization Program 06/14/2023

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. graces the official launching of the South Cotabato Consolidated Rice Production and Mechanization Program in the Municipality of Banga, South Cotabato on June 14, 2023.
Anchored in the Administration’s efforts to strengthen the country’s agricultural sector, the program promotes the creation of an organized and efficient rice production and marketing system in the Province.
According to the Provincial Government of South Cotabato, the consolidated farming program will enhance production, improve grain quality, as well as become globally competitive through strategies such as good agricultural practices, low cost production, efficient farm mechanization and value adding practices, among others.
Furthermore, cooperation and active involvement of local rice farmers are major components under the program to form a compact rice area of at least 1000 hectares, which the Provincial Government plans to expand across other municipalities within South Cotabato to fulfill the government’s commitment of alleviating farmers from poverty and reducing prices of agricultural commodities.
To date, approximately PhP115 million has been allocated to maximize the Consolidated Rice Production and Mechanization Program. These include construction of the South Cotabato Integrated Rice Processing Center, warehouse, and turnover of various agricultural machines and inputs such as hauling trucks, hybrid seeds, fertilizers and inbred rice varieties, among others.
