Hello, thank you. Yes, they sound very good and you can do a lot with them. There is a few of them on the channel. Some have been modded. One I added a Master volume to it. Thanks for watching and take care.
I have an amp with the same tube compliment (Carvin Vintage 16). It has a "soak" pot, which I think is just the preamp volume control, and when you crank it you get some pretty heavy distortion with humbuckers. There is a separate volume pot which I think is a master volume. I play it thru an external 1 x 12" cabinet I built, because the Celestion Vintage 30 it came with sounds quite "boxy" in the small tweed cabinet. Sadly, Carvin quit making guitar amps a few years ago, you probably don't see them over in the UK.
Hello Michael. That sounds like a cool amp. Carvin amps are very rare in the UK. I can't remember the last time I spotted one. They were very good amps as I remember. Take care Michael.
Hello. When I was editing the video, the way I phrased that line line just before I added the pic, reminded me of David. I wondered if it was just me thinking that or if anyone else would hear the same just before the pic. Or did it just look random lol. Thanks for watching and take care.
Nice 'speedy' resurrection of another Dominator .. I have noticed the prices of this series of 15 ish watt WEM amps creeping up.. That's a shame.. It was a reasonably good sounding and very usable vintage (ish) amp that enabled a lot of players to get into the 'classic--vintage' guitar amp scene for sensible money.. When they get more expensive that a new FBJ , I think I'd opt for a brand new, proven versatile and warrantied amp after doing a tweak to the optimistic bias setting. Hope your Dad's okay Martyn.
Hello Pete, thank you. I agree they are going up in price quite a bit. The Blues Junior makes a great amp with the the mods and the bias set correctly and very portable too. Dad is doing okay. Thanks Pete and take care.
Enjoyed the video. I am in the states and never even seen a Wem let alone played through one. Let's just say that they seem to be built to a certain lower price point. Doesn't sound bad at all and was just wondering if these were popular and well regarded. The only band that I know that used one was Oasis with a Marshall or something like that back in the day. I am sure plenty more used them, but I know nothing about Wem.
@@rgbplumbinghilton Thank You for the information as I know nothing about them at all. I did like the way that this amp sounded hence the curiosity. Just went on Reverb and they sell for good money.
Hello Shane. They were a budget amp. They were popular and loads of them were made. There is still stacks of them around. The last ones were built in late 70s. There is a few videos on the channel were I have modded these amps. Oasis did use one. I did see a video that @TheGuitologist did on a guitar show. I spotted two on that video. I have put the link below. I thank that's the video It's a while since I watched it. Take care Shane. ua-cam.com/video/F4tZahnwUuI/v-deo.htmlsi=24REuhnSO_Z8sgFt
Hi Martyn. I trust all is well with you guys? They’re cool amps them are. I have one at home,, no cabinet or speaker though. I too have changed the caps (the largest two), but not checked the bias. Sounds nice. I am selling it, if you know anyone who might be interested. Although, the location of the valve clips and screens tubes is anyone’s guess. 😏. Take care mate.
Martyn was fantastic to turn this around so swiftly, awesome job and wow, such a great improvement
Well worth the traveling to receive specialist help

Any live Hendrix video you watch will have WEM pa systems. They were certainly not built cheaply. Good quality solid road amps.
