I LOVE when you go like full-throttle with the colors. That's something that not only displays your incredible capabilities as a builder, but shows extreme creativity that many lack. Trying to make a whole house purple, or other colors like green, yellow, red, etc., even with some accent colors here and there, is super impressive and enjoyable content to view! I absolutely love your content, thank you for all you do not only for your viewers but for the real world with your charities!
That is super interesting to me because this is how I build/decorate in the Sims all the time. I always wondered if that was a normal thing that everyone did. I am guessing not by the 202 likes!
i almost always set up a new place for my sims that are moving out. the most fun part for me is setting up the storylines, so i do more cas and building than actually playing 😅

Kayla you’ve built official builds/lots for TWO expansion packs. You are an exceptional builder. Different builds will appeal to different people for different reasons, that’s a given. But you are really great at building all kinds of things in the sims, community lots and modern builds included. Please don’t forget that every time you build something new and don’t worry about it “looking bad”. It doesn’t look bad. We will always run to download your builds ❤
Honestly, I love the purple of this and see myself playing in this apartment in future. I will say, with you struggling for the "office for writing" art/window plans. A corkboard or messy post-it notes etc would literally be perfect on a writer's wall. Sometimes the plot-planning spans beyond the notebook/document. I know you can never get exact on the sims but could be a fun idea

Whenever I decide I'm starting a new gen of my legacy challenge, I choose a new world, lot, and building style for the heir. So, my other sims can stay in the previous house. I love doing it this way because I force myself to do something out of my comfort zone, and I struggle for money every single time. I know it doesn't go with like the official rules of a legacy challenge, but I have a lot of fun playing the sims this way. Plus, I can replace some of those haunting EA builds in my save. Fully recommended.

the living room looks sooo cozy! replace the fireplace with dvd/game storage (which you obviously don't need in The Sims) and i could totally see myself living there!

I'm unhealthily attached to all my sims so yes I build/edit customized homes for my main family and their extended families. Sometimes if I have time, I do the same for my sims' friends (especially if it's a bigger family with little to no accommodation).

This apartment is beautiful! When you said, " You're probably mad at me," I was talking out loud to the computer saying, "Kayla! It's YOUR build for YOUR Sim! It doesn't really matter what everyone else thinks!" Also, it's so fun to see Snap doing to you what my cats do to me! Once when Snap was meowing in the background I was trying to figure out what MY cats were doing until you mentioned it was Snap. 🤣
I will never understand Kayla's obsession with putting nothing but a tiny little two seater table touching the wall when she has more than enough space for a big dinning table in the centre of the room 😭

This is definitely a recurring theme for Kayla. I'm wondering if it's her, or a generational thing. I space plan dining "rooms" & I almost always do 4 seaters minimum, sometimes 3 if it's really cozy. Dining areas are a priority for me, but I'm a generation older (plus a bit) than Kayla, and eating at a table is much more engrained in me. I know my son does not place as much priority into having a dining table as I do. I'll leave this here and let people in their 20's weigh in. Otherwise, it's really cute and I love the purple. Not too much!
I feel like anyone that has the favorite color of purple or pink definitely has it everywhere! This build is so cute and perfect for them.

Sometimes I extensively Reno an EA build, occasionally I build them something custom, mostly I download something decent and do a quick personalized Reno, rarely will I just stick them into a stock build, it mostly depends on how much I like them and how attached I am, and how much time I want to invest in building. I would say I mostly download something, sometimes even one of my own builds, and then do a quick personalized Reno - right number of bedrooms, pet stuff, office, etc.
I usually don't build them anything, but I built a house in Brindleton Bay for my current SIM's sister and I loved the result

I actually really love this apartment with all of the purple and the writer/musician sims that are living there. I feel like some of the purple items in the sims can get overwhelming but this is a very tasteful way to use the purple! Looks very cozy!

I move them into a house off the gallery, then keep adding the stray family members into it until it gets full and then I put them in another house off the gallery-
But because I'm constantly moving people in, there are always sims in the household so it never gets cleaned out when someone dies
I always have a "retirement home" already built, with kitchen/dining room bathrooms, at least 8 bedrooms and some amenities; spa, pool etc and all of my spares go live there. I did this with Sims 3 too :)
When I my sim’s siblings move out a lot of times I’ll just move them into a starter and do a small reno if they need an extra bedroom or something. Sometimes I place random houses from the gallery or one of my previous builds but I don’t think I’ve ever built specifically for them. When I do legacies a lot of times I just move the heir out and leave their siblings in the childhood home unless I need the extra money

I have an idea for a video!! Create a really random character (either offline or as part of the recording) and then build a home for that character. Like, woodland hermit; secret super hero; recent college graduate; ambitious millennial woman from the big city who goes back to her hometown because she inherited a farmhouse and she meets the local pancake cafe owner who reminds her what is important in life…

The fish welcome mat would’ve been perfect tho. They like fishing!
Also I started using more tall wardrobe like things in hallways, feels more realistic for hallways than using so many bookcases.
But your choices for this build were so fun & fitting!
When I move out sims I do this thing where I make a bunch of mini stack apartments, like 4 by 3 homes with like 3-4 floors and I make basically a tiny home townhome lot. On one of my longest games I had about 20 sims all living like this and they were all adopted or descendants of my first couple sims

seeing snap pop into the video makes my heart so happy🥹 my 16 year old cat passed earlier this year and always would watch me when I was playing the sims so it reminds me of him ❤
My current save I set up my whole family tree in Newcrest and I built some normal houses at first, but by the end I built some ridiculous houses just for the fun of it. One child lives in a castle with three “wives”. Another child lives with their family in a bunker without a way out. There’s a one who lives in a container house. There are triplets that live in a Neapolitan three story apartment building, where one apartment is brown(chocolate), one is white (vanilla) and one is pink (strawberry). It’s all about having fun.

I'd love it if you could rebuild this apartment for the original sims, and for the karaoke legends! Love the way you put in personalities into your builds, esp this one! The purple was fun! 🎉

The default layout of this apartment is probably one of the most realistic in the game.. the only thing I'd really do is swap the office and 2nd bedroom. Maybe steal some space from the main bathroom for the ensuite as well. Your layout still is great though as usual. Also, I still love that apartment windows are editable now but I really hope they add some way of mirroring it through the rest of the building.. it'd be so nice if we change windows it'll change ALL of the other windows too.
kayla, i love watching you do floor plans for houses and apartments! i tend to struggle a lot with them so you should make a video about like floor plan how-tos! :)
If you watch her streams, you'll see she struggles a lot with floor plans even now. It's mostly just draw rooms however you think they naturally fit then adjust. It's like doing a puzzle but you're also creating it at the same time. Generally try to stick to being realistic but obviously take liberties as it's The Sims. Something that may actually help is doing shell challenges. Download a shell and restrict yourself to not editing the existing walls at all. This way you don't feel like you have ultimate freedom to just move whatever around - which can make floorplans even more annoying honestly. Also, don't aim for absolute perfection. Remember you can adjust floor plans as you build and even as you play.

Purple is my FAVORITE color!! This has to be my favorite build you have ever done! I have a tendency to lean on the purple side when I build. There’s always at least 1 purple room LOL
I actually do make houses and set up the lives of my extended family with nice rooms and makeovers etc when i play legacy challenges. Yes, that means it takes forever to do one generation, but thats my favorite part.
I don’t usually comment but i enjoy your videos so much, I’ve watched you for a couple years and have seen most of your videos excluding the legacy ones, I’ve been trying to set up a time to go through those (there’s so many!! /lh). You’re my favorite simmer to watch and though I can’t often catch your livestreams due to work, I try when I can because you’re just such a cozy and fun person and it’s really nice to just do my own things while watching you stream. You inspire me a lot when I play The Sims myself and I like the styles you build in a lot. Watching you has also helped me learn things you can do in the sims that i didnt know about haha. Also side comment, I appreciate the disclaimer you put about fishbowls whenever you use them 🙏 they’re so harmful to fish and are honestly downright cruel to use and so many people don’t know that.

I normally just grab something from the gallery and throw the sims in there. I don't have to worry about it and if I visit them at least they live in a nice place🤷♀

I do build houses or apartments for my extra sims 😂 I love it so much and I do it for ALL my sims. Sometimes I event play a little bit in their household and let them create a family.
In the past if I have a windowless room I’ve put a big framed mirror on the wall and covered it with a curtain to give the illusion of more space and light in the room. My office doesn’t have windows irl and it’s something I considered doing but I didn’t have the space in the end
Not only do I love this, I would live in it! But I love color and this is normally how I build in the Sims.

I totally colour code my sims like this - if they have blue clothes/blue bedroom as a child sim then that is the colour they are stuck with for life hahaha

I realised my kid sim has 7 half- siblings because his dad is a rascal. I’m going to do a Tiny Town with all the half siblings, so I went to the other families houses and renovated them to make sure each half siblings had a nice bedroom. 3 of the half siblings are with Bella Goth. I loaded into their house and there were 4 babies; my 3 and one of the Goth’s own. I put my three (literally) red headed step children in one attic room, gave Mortimer and Bella’s 3 joint kids their own room, and added more bathrooms.
For a sim name, you could name a girl “ Stai Bell “ like stable & they could have a horse ( ik you just had trauma with a horse in the last episode ) but it just makes sense
