@@gregkeppel310 They used teak to make the outer decks of battleships and the flight decks of American carriers were made of wood. Wood burns. Use steel now so the jets don't set the ships on fire. Much bad juju that. 😖😖
Um, they had locations and special equipment for sawing wood but it was still back breaking work. One man stood in a pit to pull the saw down and another man was on top to pull the saw back up or sometimes they used some sort of "spring".

Wow extremely rare in America. Men working without personal injury protection like steel-toed shoes for one thing gloves and oh yeah eye protection and ear protection. Grown men know how to do that without getting injured. wow! amazing. Oh yeah and I forgot the hard hat oh and masks damn.

Looking at the stump end of this log it has the typical shape a teak tree trunk has. However, the coloring would be less desirable than the rich brown tones you often see in higher end use .

@mike lee yes of course water or oils will darken any wood but still not the rich natural darker more desirable teak.

Can't you just watch something without trying to sound like an expert? If your mouth and keyboard slowed down you would have noticed water dripping off the blade on each and every cut. Oh so now you look and feel like a fool.

I worked part time for The House Of Teak alternating between their Schaumberg and Wheeling, IL stores back in '89 and '90. Had a blast! Some of the best creations using the best wood... Now The House Of Teak is just in Florida. Lots of boating activity there, I guess.

It's a good thing the old gentleman was on hand; the younger dudes are good and do okay, but they would've never gotten the log set up without his expertise and muscle.
60 years ago when I was a youngen earning pocket money on a building site, 50 Kg sacks of cement were the norm. Today, anything over 20Kg is considered a heavy load....What a bunch of wimps we are raising. At 75 I can still lift 50Kgs without a sweat.

The OSHA people must go nuts watching this video. 40+ years ago I used to work with a mill that wasn't even this sophisticated, the 5 foot across circular blade was powered by a leather hoop strap that rode on a rear tractor wheel that was jacked up off the ground.

Usually one growth ring equates to one year. There are exceptions that are common to each species that can differ from that rate of growth. It all depends on weather and the environment it grows in.
