My mom put hamburger and some sausage in her meat loaf. I used to add a little milk but sour cream sounds better. But I think I’m thinking more of a meatloaf. I’m glad that we are going back to bacon 🥓 grease and lard. I’m 72.

Omg “ I have to tell ya, it wasn’t my idea I stole it” LOVE HER! I use to love going to my grandma‘s house, she would cook amazing meals, the best was her fried chicken. Unfortunately my mother didn’t get her talent, lol . There is something about the way grandmothers cook, I always associate it with comfort food. They were taught to use ingredients that might not be so healthy today, but that’s why the food tasted so amazing..
We have been fooled into think the food that is really good for us is not good for us! Fat doesn't make you fat! It reduces inflammation, balances your chemistry and lubricates you body inside and out! BTW, Fat has zero carbs! It can not make you gain weight! Meat and dairy cheese etc. have zero carbs also! The culprit that causes problems is sugar, not fat!
I enjoyed hearing you say you like your cooking. My husband and I used to enjoy eating out, but it is so much more economical to buy the food and cook it at home. We just feel home cooked food taste so much better. Enjoyed your video in Missouri.

Pat, do you ever fry an egg and place it on your cheeseburger? It’s really good actually imo anyway. I don’t like to have ketchup on my burger directly but I can eat it on meatloaf. Thank you for sharing your time and your meal preparation with us. You have gotten me inspired to make myself a cheeseburger and some fried potatoes ! I don’t cook for myself to much, I eat easy prep meals that I can do in a bigger batch that I have leftovers of so I can reheat that and eat it for several days and save time and money. My kids are all older and don’t eat the same things I eat so they end up eating separately, they also eat at different times so this is just hoe we do things, I miss when they were young and we all had mealtime as a family at the table 😢

Oh how you blew my mind with that slice of bread. Approximately 30 yrs ago my boyfriend's mom would alway's love cooking for us. She was an exceptional cook. I did take literal notes of her recipes step by step. She did enjoy her cocktails from time to time and watching her run a slice of bread under water baffled me. I thought she was substituting bread crumbs because it wasn't on hand. I was young and dumb and she was and will always be a cooking/kitchen genius. Thank you for your video 💛

Well I am going to try your tip for adding sour cream to hamburger. Julia knew her way around the kitchen! When you said you were tired of cooking, it reminded me of my mother. She had been a very good cook and baker, but by the time she got in her 70s, she was sick to death of cooking. Once in a while, when she was craving something, she'd cook or bake, but that was rare. There are days I can hardly face the idea of cooking, but I'm still trying. Thanks for sharing the old-fashioned way to make burgers. They're so delicious!

The hamburger wasn’t as tasty as I had hoped. I’ll blame it on the quality of beef. The glasses hide my eyes. I don’t wear eye makeup now (they burn), therefore the glitzy glasses detract from the lack of cosmetics. And they are pretty!

Sour cream makes everything better. I still love tp cook even if for myself, now and still make a lot of the ethnic things my Grandmother made. You just made me remember that we used to make meatloaf with ground veal and ground beef . Now hamburgers are just plain ground beef, but watching you, I remembered my mom mixed all the ingredients like you did to make hamburgers, when we were young! She only used her big cast iron skillet:-))

Don’t overdo the sour cream. Flatten your burgers in a larger skillet. I had too many burgers in my skillet but they came out fine.

Well I am going to try your tip for adding sour cream to hamburger. Julia knew her way around the kitchen! When you said you were tired of cooking, it reminded me of my mother. She had been a very good cook and baker, but by the time she got in her 70s, she was sick to death of cooking. Once in a while, when she was craving something, she'd cook or bake, but that was rare. There are days I can hardly face the idea of cooking, but I'm still trying. Thanks for sharing the old-fashioned way to make burgers. They're so delicious!
The desire to cook leaves when the nest is emptied. You have no reason to want to cook!

The hamburger wasn’t as tasty as I had hoped. I’ll blame it on the quality of beef.
The glasses hide my eyes. I don’t wear eye makeup now (they burn), therefore the glitzy glasses detract from the lack of cosmetics. And they are pretty!

Sour cream makes everything better. I still love tp cook even if for myself, now and still make a lot of the ethnic things my Grandmother made. You just made me remember that we used to make meatloaf with ground veal and ground beef . Now hamburgers are just plain ground beef, but watching you, I remembered my mom mixed all the ingredients like you did to make hamburgers, when we were young! She only used her big cast iron skillet:-))

At Kroger I seen they make bacon grease to sell!! It was in the oil/shortening Isle on top shelf!! Called it BACON UP. Going to buy some next trip.
