I seriously want one. But given all the controversy the movie fell under, well… I have a feeling it’s going to end up going the same path as Snow White and the Huntsman.
He definitely was putting out feelers towards her when he thought she was a dude. Look at how he looks at her when they’re eating with everyone. And then after a conversation with everyone where the guys tease that her ideal woman sounds like she’s describing a man, be comes in like are you matched with anyone? No? That’s good. Like, boi! If that isn’t a gay (or at least bisexual) man trying to see if another guy is interested in a time when it wasn’t acceptable to be open about such things, then idk what is.
Also I know some people are saying he always knew she was a girl, or he knew since he saw her putting on the binding, which is why he seemed flirty Bc he always knew she was a girl. And that could very well be. But if we operate under the assumption that he didn’t know, my above comment still stands.
Both of those option are so beautiful and powerfull!
Part2 should not be Disney again cos it produces only family friendly films. Part 2 scenes like kisses and more, by another film company will be great

Jesus Christ. He liked her from the start because he knew she wasn't a man. Plus, you know, this is a movie so of course there's a love story in it.

Not really, imagine a guy mingling with a girl in the guise of a man in social media, he might fall for him,but he won't admit he did cuz that would make him gay, so he tries to get closer to that person, maybe meet irl to decide what is his next move. if the signals are right, she might fall for him back aswell. This scenerio can also be applied here.

There’s smtg very special in his expression in the bridge scene. He realises everything (relationship/feelings) even if it’s obviously still blurry to him.
He probably feel the urge of doing smtg before she leaves, he seems to don’t even know what.
Anyway it’s a powerful expression to me, it’s the beginning of “them”

On that, they are a much more powerful couple than Li Shang and Mulan

Okay listen. I like the idea of them together too. But the whole idea of this movie was the concept that a women doesn't need a mate, man or woman, to be whole or strong. That's the whole idea of this film. It's not just feminism, it's the understanding of female independence whether it comes to men or other women. So yeah, I love the idea of the two of them being a couple and I'm pretty sure that's what's going to happen. But it's also so refreshing to see a young woman go into something for herself and finish it for the same reason without a man doing it for her when it comes to the cinematic aspect.
I’ve always really loved that at they included the Shang/ Honghui character. Because it is about Mulan being a strong independent woman and fighting these battles not only for herself, but for her family, and for her country. But you can be a strong independent woman and still love someone. I think they do a good job in the cartoon and in the live action of making the love interest a plot point to show that just because you are a fighter and you are an independent person doesn’t mean you have to forfeit love, but not making him someone that saves her or takes up a majority of her world and attention. In both she’s very much just doing her own thing and she also has feelings for him as a side point. Which I think is nice.

The concept was women are equal to man, if not more superior, as shown in the movie. I believe he was drawn to her chi from the beginning and wanted to be friends but Mulan pushed him away to hide her true identity
