Thank you for sharing your amazing adventures heading out West. Looking forward to the rest of your journey. Having a loving family and friends to share your life with is such a blessing . God bless 🙏 you today and always. Have a wonderful day 🌻
When traveling I enjoy seeing the landscapes but I really enjoy is the cute houses and little towns with the older buildings. Thanks for taking us along on your adventures.
Hate to burst your bubble but Gary Richrath was actually from East Peoria...across the river from Peoria. Oh and, here in Illinois we call those homesteads farms lol. Enjoy the rest of your trip!
My niece just actually moved back home here to ga a couple of months ago from Iowa she would take pictures of historic homes in old old neighborhoods they were absolutely beautiful but she says there's way to much snow for her they don't shut down in that state here in ga if we get a dusting of snow everything shuts down lol but she said the outdoor activities they have are endless hiking camping biking anything that you are active in outside is there..... It's a wonderful thing to see the trip through your eyes....
Hi Katie! I am from Illinois and was so excited to see you drove through Peoria! I cross that bridge ( The Murray/Baker) everyday to go to work at OSF children’s hospital! So cool 😎 Yes Illinois is mostly flat with a lot of corn and bean fields. But there are some beautiful areas, lots of lakes with great fishing, State parks with great hiking trails and wildlife galore. Really enjoyed seeing your adventure out west, Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for taking us along! Since we have heat warnings here in Tennessee today, it was especially nice to revisit "spring" with the Bradford pear trees and the misty cool look of the plains! So glad you were able to experience this journey! Travel always broadens our understanding of this huge planet we live on!
Lebanon is about 10 miles from me in IL. There is a haunted tour of Lebanon around Halloween every year. 3:39 This building you zoom in on is the Looking Glass Playhouse community theater. Its one of the main attractions in town since the early 1970s. They perform live musical theater shows. I have played in the band for several. Great people there. The keyboard player for REO Speedwagon went to my High School which is in nearby Belleville IL.
I was born in Peoria ! Haven’t been back .. lived there about 3 -4 years. Don’t remember it but would be interesting to visit. I’m in middle TN and so thankful my family decided to move back “home” . Btw when you said you’d be showing Illinois I said to myself “ I wonder if she’ll go through peoria ?”and low and behold! You did! Thank you for sharing this adventure! I love seeing how the terrain changes from place to place. That’s the fun of it , seeing the incredible world around us
Katie! You came through my area! I live in the quad cities! I live across the river from LeClaire on the Illinois side! BTW, a lot of those swampy areas you were seeing are dry in the summer, fall, and winter or when the river is down.
Gosh, that part 1 went by so fast. Thanks for taking us along on your trip out west. When I was in 4th grade or family moved south of our state (Texas). We came from very hilly country & moved to very FLAT country. I still remember how shocked I was to see such flat land for miles & miles. Love that you are enjoying the trip & getting to see a lot of the country. Can't wait for Part 2. Hugs!
Really enjoyed the first part of your roadtrip. Lol, it's nice to travel from the comfort of your own easy chair, and with gas prices right now, it's really nice to get out and about. Thanks.
Those three things are silage bins. They chopped the corner stock and all and packed it in there and if they did it right it would ferment and keep for the cattle or cows. The old barn is actually an old granary (elevator) the slatted walls were actually used store whole corn on the cob as it dried before they shelled it. it's really neat to see this .you don't see them around much anymore. Awesome video!
It sure is flat here! The river sure is wide. I am so used to beautiful mountains all around. I think I'd feel exposed without them. This is a wonderful trip, see the world!
my grandma grew up in Fonda, Iowa in Pocahontas County. I think that's pretty far away from where you all were at but seeing the Iowa scenery reminded me of taking trips with her for the family reunion. Couldn't believe the gas prices out there...here in washington state gas is like 5.99!
Yay!!! Been waiting for this!!! Shout out to Iowa, my Dad was born and raised in Boone, Iowa, which is west of Des Moines, about an hour, I think..My cousins "walked beans" ,as they say, when they pick soybeans...Yep, we would drive out in the summers to visit my Nana and cousins and I have never seen so many corn fields!! 😃. Enjoying listening to you three chat and joke back and forth, sounds like you were having a blast!! looking forward to part 2!!!
Thank you for sharing your adventures! Looks a lot different than your mountains. Lots of flat farm land. I like that you went through the towns rather the interstate type roads. Lots more to see. Such a nice motor home to travel in. I didn't realize the Mississippi River went that way. Looking forward to Part 2. ♥️
My first time to Illinois, we were going out there in March to see my brother graduate from the Naval Base in Great Lakes, it was beautiful and, we got caught up in a huge snowstorm. It was pretty cold out there to say the least.
I am looking forward to Eastern Nebraska. The Blue and the Platte Rivers. My parents were from Beatrice and I went to College there as well as a summers as a girl.
Brings back memories when taking my momma and dad out west in 2001 she was probably 80 years young every time she saw a grove of trees she would get so excited look at that little plantation! Momma and dad are both gone they passed away in 2021 . I will always cherish the memories made on that trip . So bless your heart for sharing your videos. God bless
although I wasn't even know where you been at?😅, it's always fine for any heart! to have a trip...and get out of any shell for a while.... thanks for sharing your adventure with us!!😊
It is beautiful, but, it is weird that everything is flat. I remember when I was young and we went to Florida, Texas and I was just amazed at all that flat land and huge marsh land there was. Back then seeing all that flat land made me feel like we were going forever & could see for miles and miles. It was pretty but I wanted to come home. Glad you had a great adventure. Can't wait for part 2
OMG! You were in LeClaire! I live in the Quad Cities near LeClaire, and lived in LeClaire 7 years ago. LeClaire is where Wild Bill Cody is from. I know exectly where Low Moor is too. Seen and lived through many tornados 🌪 here, and a Derecho storm in 2020. I80 is “that long and lonesome highway east of omaha”.
Great video! I'm from Iowa area you were through and it was really interesting to see it through someone else's eyes. Leclaire is home to American Pickers. The Wapsi area is usually not flooded like that. That was from spring thaw and usually happens every year. Hopefully you got to sample an Iowa pork tenderloin and a Maid Rite when you were here. Looking forward to the rest of the videos from your trip.
Too bad the weather was kinda yucky during most of the drive. I don't know about Illinois' Lebanon, but in SW Ohio halfway between Dayton and Cincinnati there is a town of the same name and it's pronounced "Leb-ann-inn. When you went through LeClaie, Iowa, you went right past the original location of Antiques Archeology, the home of "The American Pickers" from The History Channel fame. It was just about a block off to the left of the road you were on when you were in the heart of town.
What a great video! Brings back memories of living in midwest as a kid and yes I have been in Clinton, IA, as well as Exira and Atlantic, IA. Brought a smile to my face. Seems like you had a great trip out west, can't wait for part II!
I have always lived in Toccoa Ga my husband came from Illinois and when we went to visit his family. It seem like the whole state was flat you could look forever and it was flat no hills any where.
I love road trips. I've never been to Illinois or Iowa, very interesting to see how flat the land is. Thank you so much for sharing your adventure. It's great to see the USA. 😀🙋♀️💜🇺🇲
I'm from Ohio and I've been a cross that bridge. I was there installing computer equipment at Lowes. I worked at Lowes in Wheelersburg Ohio in the early 1980's. I visited Lowe's in North Wilkesboro North Carolina for training.
Im so glad you got to stretch your wings and see some of the big world! Nothing like it when done in comfort and safety. Shout out to Donna and Michael, thanks! Cant wait to see your rocks. No I dont have ESP. I just know you and your love of the rocks. Bring on part 2 girl. 😁
Part 2 was also awesome! I've been fortunate in my lifetime to have traveled some of those same roads & see the beauty of America as you did! Thank you so much for sharing y'all's journey, Katie! Like the saying goes, " It's not the destination, but the journey getting there "!! Lovin" ya, girl! ~ Pat C. ~ p.s. Katie, you have the most natural beauty, as does Corie!
So glad you made a video of your trip out west. I'm from England and my Family had a road trip from Baltimore, Maryland to Houston, Texas a few years ago. We passed through ten states there and back: WV, KY, TN, AR, TX, LA, AL, GA, NC, and VA. We loved every minute seeing your beautiful country.
Love seeing the countryside and the old farm equipment. What a great opportunity for you to see the west. They are such wonderful people. Good friends, for sure. That little white Chihuahua stole my heart!! ♥️🙏🏼♥️
Thanks for sharing, Katie. I’m from Nebraska. Wooo Hoo!!! There really are some pretty places off the beaten path!! Probably pretty boring for you being from the mountains. Loved seeing you video!!
Enjoyed this! We have such a vast country with such a varied landscape....watching the video, the song "wide open spaces" came to mind....thanks and God bless y'all 🙏❤
Wow. That Mississippi River is so wide. I never seen it before. I live Washington state and I don’t live in there city I live out in the country and love it. My daddy was from Colorado mama eastern Wa. I’ve been east several times when my sister was alive she lived in Maine. I didn’t drive there but flew there. Brutally cold there in the winter time. Look up Mt Rainier and you can see where abouts I live.
The Lebanon in Indiana, we say same as you. A good portion of those farms are corporate farms. Love road trips, even , Illinois. Actually love southern Il
Katie so happy you had a great vacation. It is exciting to get to see parts of the country you’ve never been to. I look forward to coming out east to visit the part of the country you all live in. My husband is going through some health issues with his heart so we can’t travel right now so that’s one of the reasons I love yours and Tippers videos so much. Looking forward to parts 2 and 3 of your vacation
Ya'll were travelling about 50 miles West from where my Mom grew up in Packwood, Iowa. My Grandma lived there until she died (early 90s) and we would go visit her once or twice a year from Texas. Brings back memories to see Iowa again. Thanks!
This is so cool, I'm glad Katie got to feed her travel bug. I've been back and forth more times than I can count and I love to just get on the road a drive out a whole tank of gas.
I enjoyed the scenery. Thanks for sharing. Loved the quaint little town with the lovely street lights and all the open farm space! I live right next to the Wanganui river. Not as big as that one!! It’s fascinating how your houses don’t often have fences and gates around them. We all pretty much have gates & fences around our houses in New Zealand 🇳🇿 ✌🏼
Great video I believe that where ever you travel they can always tell where you are from. I love the accent on the video you'll you all ect. 🙂🙃 thanks for sharing 👍
Glad you got some time with my river. I grew up in Hannibal, MO but was up and down that river from the Quad Cities to St Louis and all points between. Most of the people that settled in that part of the world came from NC, VA, and KY.
It was so much fun to ride along with you Katie.I am look forward to the next post and thank you for the road trip.I enjoy your videos and God Bless you all.
Enjoyed the ride Beautiful ride we will never get to go out there so thank you for showing us these places can't wait for part 2. God bless hope you have a great day. No wonder tornados just keep going. Never seen anything that flat.
Katie, As someone who was born and raised in Iowa and has lived the past 25 years in Illinois, I want to say I thoroughly enjoyed this video of your trip west. It was fun to see such familiar sights through your eyes. Yes, it is very flat land but you must remember that you drove through some of the richest farmland in the world as you drove through these two states. If you had been able to travel further north in Iowa toward Dubuque, your eyes would have been treated to some of the most beautiful rolling green hills along the Mississippi River Valley you have ever seen. By the way, Katie, are you aware that one of the most abundant places to find geodes surrounds the southern town of Keokuk, Iowa. Each year in late September, there is a Geode Festival across the river from Keokuk in Illinois. Attendees are transported out to farm fields where road construction crews have dumped tons of earth and rock from area projects. You can dig to your hearts content and keep any rocks you find for a very inexpensive price (I think it's like $20 a bucket). If you've never heard of this or never attended, you might want to plan to attend. It's almost guaranteed that you'll bring back multiple buckets of treasure! Here's a link to the event -- www.greatriverroad.com/tristate-events/geode-fest#:~:text=Although%20geodes%20are%20known%20from%20many%20localities%20around,River%20from%20Keokuk%2C%20has%20been%20holding%20Geode%20Fest. Keep up the videos and keep making music -- I really enjoy following both of you and your mother on UA-cam! Blessings, Gretchen Barron
Beautiful drive. I'm loving the scenery, the farms, and all the pretty houses you got to see. Looking forward to part two!

Isn't it cool seeing new landscapes. When I go someplace new the landscapes alone make it worth the drive.
Thumbs Up for Gary Richrath and REO!!!! Remember Katie, you can tune a piano but you can't tuna fish 😀
That’s exactly right!!! I’m glad you said that!
Hate to burst your bubble but Gary Richrath was actually from East Peoria...across the river from Peoria.
Oh and, here in Illinois we call those
homesteads farms lol.
Enjoy the rest of your trip!
I was born in Peoria and raised about 15 miles from there in Washington, Illinois. Land is so flat out there you can see forever. ❤️
Oh cool!!!
Around 6:10 that reminds me of going thru Hartford, Conn. It looks the same.
Oh thank you friend! And yes Iowa gets a lot of snow and they just keep on trucking!

my grandma grew up in Fonda, Iowa in Pocahontas County. I think that's pretty far away from where you all were at but seeing the Iowa scenery reminded me of taking trips with her for the family reunion. Couldn't believe the gas prices out there...here in washington state gas is like 5.99!

I live in Indiana, next to Louisville Ky. I have been through Illinois many times . It has some beautiful areas.
Great video ☺️ now on to part two.
Different is 'fun'! Can't wait to see Nebraska! 🌻
My first time to Illinois, we were going out there in March to see my brother graduate from the Naval Base in Great Lakes, it was beautiful and, we got caught up in a huge snowstorm. It was pretty cold out there to say the least.
🙏❤️
I am looking forward to Eastern Nebraska. The Blue and the Platte Rivers. My parents were from Beatrice and I went to College there as well as a summers as a girl.

Hopefully you got to sample an Iowa pork tenderloin and a Maid Rite when you were here.
Looking forward to the rest of the videos from your trip.
Hey that’s so cool! I knew some one would be from there!
I grew up in rural/small town Iowa. You had me laughing at things which were part of my upbringing.
I laughed out loud...I said "the Bradford pears are just blooming" and before blooming finished I heard you guys say it! 🤣

Thanks for watching, what a cool event I had no idea! ☺️
