I`m your age and saw them on the same tour in Germany - I even remember what i wore : suede leather winkel pickers, black satin trousers, purple satin shirt and a huge crusefix danglin down my chest - Black mascara on my eyes! As an encore they played a Glitter cover "Do You wanna To Touch Me" - What a brilliant show, what a marvelous time!!!!
Ok first, message to the taper: You are my hero and i love you! Thank you so much for your guts and all the efforts you had put to sneak in a camera at the RAH in 1986! You have my ultimate respect! And then, second: That Telecaster...
This concert with its setlist and R.Smith captures a soundscape and visual appeal of an era "Staring at The Sea" helped me solidify with other Post-Punk/New-wave/Progressive/Alternative bands like DM/N.O./OMD/Furs/Cab.Volt./TJMC/TFF/HL...Simple Minds, 1978-1988 (84-88 😮) into an eternal time capsule of the epidome of wow land.....nothing from Blancmange....just "Ministry" from Kraftwerk to The Ocean full of Blue. Thankfully, I never needed any type of drug (other than alcohal) to transport me through this wordly bliss...especially thankful and blessed with this/these musical artist and not having to limp thru life with Pop Music Culture
I'm also very much of the same view & enjoy pretty much the same. The other bands that I would have to add to that are Japan, Propaganda, Yellow Magic Orchestra & Ultravox & Gary Numan. I definitely live in that audio bubble, but in 2021 I stumbled across Ukrainian band Onuka, & band that is as amazing as all that 80's talent.
I was at this show. Lived around the corner from the Royal Albert at the time. Didn't have a ticket. Easy to get in. Great performance. Unlike Sting who played there the next year. He was rubbish.
I'm from Brazil. In 87 The Cure was in Brazil and I was able to see the show, after the release of the album Kiss me Kiss me Kiss me. I was 19 at the time. The Ibirapuera gym in São Paulo collapsed. Unforgettable days and songs from the 80s ... I love The Cure!
@@joshen6010 Yes, the band has a lot of fans in South America. Especially in Brazil. In 1996, the band returned to Brazil for another festival, where she was the invited band, chosen by the public!
I was there too. It was great to see them live. I was 17 at the time. I’ve been living in the UK since 2002 and I’ve seen them live many times. The Cure never fails to impress me
A friend came down from Liverpool and requested I met him in Kensington. It was my 21st birthday and he gave me a ticket to this gig. I was blown away and remember it fondly.
The Cure in there great time! Roberts voice is what I love to hear. Thank you sooo much for sharing this! I was 20 years old at the time. Lord, where has the time gone?!?
The year that I discovered the Cure by accident in America. I was still a top 40 kid, but found a new look at music through the Cure and DM and Smiths. A year later I was no longer a slave to the radio but a fledgling new wave kid wanting all black and tapes/tapes/tapes of backwards bands!
Muchas gracias, estás canciones cada vez que las escucho me traen muchos recuerdos bonitos , mi juventud los amigos, las chicas los primeros viajes los conciertos. En fin son como abrir un álbum de fotos, y eso me gusta un montón.
I’ve been to a lot of shows and this is one of best sets I’ve heard and Robert is still peak. I saw them in Chicago 2006 or 2008 I believe it was I forget anyway a very similar show. Love this
Wow I'm 53 now & I'm sure that's the first time I'd heard Primary. 💥 That's quite possibly the best version of A Forest I've ever heard! And that drumming on Close To Me is phenomenal, almost like a full on metronomic techno beat.
Great set list! Only possible complaint is that it’s not long enough, and could have used a song or two from The Top.. Other than that this is still really great! 🙏✌️
It was Shake Dog Shake - the video starts after Play for Today Starts so I didn't include it but full audio can be found here: ua-cam.com/video/Z_onWUauKeA/v-deo.html
Holy fuck this version of Other Voices is mind-blowing. Out of this world phenomenal
The opening drum beat, the bass-and Robert’s guitar parts- sublime version- and a bit more gritty than the recorded version ❤
Gritty indeed! This era of their live shows feels special and raw and sweaty.
Seriously!!!!
I was there, great gig. 22 then, 57 now, other voices just perfect!
Lucky bastard!!!😃

Ah, the era when you couldn't tell who was who in silhouette onstage. Even Lol had quite the quaff. Other Voices was epic.

All these years and it’s still all I listen to. This concert is perfect

I saw The Cure in July of 1986 at Southern Star from the third row -under a full moon.
Дякую непересічному Robert Smith!.. у 86 році, коли мені було 17, я б не дослухав жодну його пісню, а зараз - суцільна насолода від його творчісті
Great sound, great lineup, great setlists, my favorite era of Cure!
omg Robert was so GORGEOUS
Funny to think that to his wife (Mary) that he is an ordinary guy with good and bad points...I love Robert Smith though...massive lifelong fan here.
A friend came down from Liverpool and requested I met him in Kensington. It was my 21st birthday and he gave me a ticket to this gig. I was blown away and remember it fondly.

I was there too! Soundwaves for Greenpeace. I was 16 (52 now).
I was there too, and night before for Echo & Bunnymen. Two great nights.
I had that hair style in 1986 in Athens, GA. I sort of stuck out. I didn't care.
Respect!
Wow! The sound quality on this is excellent and reflects what may well now become my favourite versions of classic Cure songs.

They played in complete darkness with a black veil and spoke in Philly at the spectrum.

@@JackMaskell-ll5qc this was before they removed that feature so now my comments dated hahahaha
I was there - last time I saw them after seeing them perhaps 10 or so times 1981-84. He’s such a TWAT. Good set list mind…….
Great set list! Only possible complaint is that it’s not long enough, and could have used a song or two from The Top.. Other than that this is still really great! 🙏✌️
I like that he's using a Tely pretty much the whole sesh.
