I was 12 years old. I remember I had to go to bed before the game ended because I had school the next day. My dad came into my room late in the 4th and woke me up to come watch the ending with him. He doesn't even care about sports, but he knew I was a Texas fan, so he made sure I got to witness that moment. I'll never forget that.
Damn, exact same scenario for me too. I think it was a Wednesday night. I too was 12, and had to go to school the next morning. Except, my parents had already gone to bed and I stayed up and watched it. Even watched the postgame stuff and ended up going to bed past 12 am. 😂
Bro I was 13 and I begged my Mom to let me stay up. She actually did and that had me believing they would win. One of the best days of my life as a kid
Man I used to be such a big Texas college fan even though I was a kid/teenager from Cali…at the time to it’s when Kevin Durant was with Texas but their whole team was fun to watch with aj abrams dj Augustine…and then you go to the football side…man I loved watched colt McCoy play. Miss those sports days.
Yea bro AJ Abrams doesn't get remembered much for some reason he was a sharp shooter for that Texas team they also had dexter Pittman and damian james it was a fun team to watch
The year he came in Aldridge, Tucker, and Boogie just left for the NBA. Had they of stayed that one year I believe they would have won the next year with Durant
@@garrett__barclay I drove 3yrs for American Yellow Taxi. I get a call one night after a game and the family is going not going 4 or 5 blocks. I pulled up to the Four Seasons and the guy hands me a $100 bill for a 3 or 4 dollar fare. I noticed a huge ring when he handed it to me then I realized it was Phil Simms after Chris had just lost us a game and I had sports talk radio on while they were ripping him. I chuckled when they got out.
This is so cool to hear. Colt McCoy always seemed like such a cool dude & great competitor. Good to see he had a long NFL career even though he wasn't a "star".
Neither one had a great NFL career, but Vince played 6 years and Colt 12. Having a great personality and attitude, with no drama, helps you stay in the game
I don't think I will ever forget the ending to that game, the intensity levels were off the charts. I remember my girlfriend (now my wife) at the time was in the room and I was screaming at the TV even though I wasn't a fan of either team. I tried to explain to her what just happened...but obviously it wasn't her thing and it a funny situation to have watched maybe the best football game of all time, and have the person sitting next to you , not even remotely care about it. Vince was a legend, that game was absolutely insane.
@@william-ajones3959 David Ash was good but his career was derailed by concussions. Ehlinger bled burnt orange and was a leader, but damn his throwing was awful at times.
Partly VY's fault and that idiot Titans HC Jeff Fisher. He and the OC had no idea how to best use VY's talents. What he did back then is almost commonplace in today's game. But they wanted to stick a square peg in a round hole.
He would've excelled in today's nfl or at least been more comfortable. If Lamar and Hurts can have success I think vince could too, just need creative leadership.
I never heard a player being honest about not being ready for the moment. They always gotta fake it for the coaches and it hurts their development and honesty about where they are at
Chris is versatile and showing it. Good for him. Still improving. Grinder and a baller. Oklahoma girls softball could be next. Mixin it up. Know what I'm saying? Suits might be nervous but go for it
@@psideTXdude03 Thanks! Colt, although not having play time, seems to have been pretty involved with the team (scouting, practice, etc). A quick search does not throw any mention of him being an official BCS Champion, hence my question. Not sure if Colt would want to be recognized for it though, but that's a different topic.
You must not have watched the video....first he talks about Vince young then he talks about living in the same dorm with KD...you literally just assumed what the video was about based on the thumbnail
LOL Which Horn hurt you, dude. You lose your girl to someone from Austin? You're being pissy under so many comments. Too funny. Thanks for the chuckles.
Far better pro career than VY yes. No one can touch Vince's Texas days though. The only way Vince is surpassed is if a QB wins the SEC and natty the same year. May have to win a Heisman as well.
I liked it when vince told mcoy, "Now it's your show
Did you, though?

Awesome story!
I was 12 also. I stood up hate watching USC. I was a VY fan ever since

Texas used to be big time back in the day and in from Kansas. Dream school was always Texas or Miami growing up
The year he came in Aldridge, Tucker, and Boogie just left for the NBA. Had they of stayed that one year I believe they would have won the next year with Durant
I lived in Austin when it was Major Applewhite, Chris Simms, Vince Young, Colt Mccoy. It was a great time to be a Longhorns fan.
Minus the Chris Simms part tho right ?😂
Major Applewhite ushered in that great era

And the year Durant was there, you could go watch preseason games for free, it was fun. I don't know if that's still the case.
Colt is the nicest dude i’ve ever met, shoutout to him and his wife. Met them while they were on vacation in San Antonio.
Colt McCoy is always a great interview. Seems like a humble guy with a good perspective.
Vince and Auburn Cam. The two most unstoppable college football players I ever saw.
Ehh it’s some Runningbacks and Receivers that were otherworldly
That games was the greatest football game I've ever seen 42 been watching since 5 and knows and loves the history of football
This is so cool to hear. Colt McCoy always seemed like such a cool dude & great competitor. Good to see he had a long NFL career even though he wasn't a "star".
Best game I’ve ever seen at any level (live). Vince was legitimately the greatest college football player I’ve ever seen.
Vince run to win that game was one of the most amazing plays i ever seen!
one of the best college qbs of all time
Neither one had a great NFL career, but Vince played 6 years and Colt 12. Having a great personality and attitude, with no drama, helps you stay in the game
Colt McCoy is 36 looking like he’s 25
Show me a 25 year old that looks like that. Idiot
Didn’t even realize it’s been that long since his Texas days. Good on him.
What does 36 look like?

Colt McCoy was legit a baller
Top five football games ive ever watched
My new phrase, I'm basically a hamburger eater😂
Vince went crazy 🤪
Texas QBs in a 10 year span: Major Applewhite, Daddy's little man, Vince Young, Colt McCoy. Dayum!!!
And then almost a decade of absolute ass until Ehlinger.
@@william-ajones3959 David Ash was good but his career was derailed by concussions. Ehlinger bled burnt orange and was a leader, but damn his throwing was awful at times.
I was at MEPS in San Antonio going into the Air Force
That’s crazy, I used to study under Bruce Lee: he was on the fourth floor, I was on the third floor.
I dare say Colt McCoy had a better NFL career than Vince Young. Nobody saw that coming.

Politics, my boy... Dude won Offensive rookie of the year. Fisher killed bro. Right system and discipline Young could've a HOF! 💯
Hell naw
About the same, Vince had expectations as a starter which he started good it’s just went down….colt just was overachieving but was a damn good back up

2008 longorns where special as well
Best game in college football history hookem

Colt you almost did it yourself against Bama.
I always wonder wat would have happened if he ain't get hurt
He punked out.... couldn't do it
Colt McCoy is a down to earth dude. He should run for office I hope from burnt orange to true blue. A Democrat Texan
Dumb question but, do red shirt players not get a ring if the team wins a championship?
That's a good question I'm curious also

He was a true freshman when they won the natty in 05. He would have received a championship ring for that year.
They absolutely get a ring 😂 they r still still doing EVERYTHING the rest of the team does except play on gameday
I still don’t feel like Texas won, the game just ended. Two amazing and evenly matched teams. One had to win though
Colt McCoy my favorite college player of all time definitely got robbed of the heisman
I’m still hurt about Colt getting knocked out of the game in the National Championship. We would’ve beat Bama if he was healthy that game. 🤦🏾♂️
Colt still looks college age😂😂😂
Is Colt still playing?
He hasn’t been a factor in years but officially retired in the year of our lord 2024
Can this guy finish the damm story .

He stay healthy Texas wins it.
What have YOU done?
Cold blooded 😂
A hamurger eater lol. Now hes the fill in OC/QB for the cardinals until they have the rebuild
Colt questioned if he could be that great then turns out he’s arguably greater than Vince at UT. I love that

He couldn't do it, he was correct.
One of the most overrated college quarterbacks ever to play in the NFL. His NFL statistics don't lie.
Texas didn’t win that game USC lost it .
