Ah, life in the city. I too know the joys of taking my Saturdays and driving out to the Giant Skull Murder Brick Building District to just set my seat back and relax as I watch terrified detectives Luigi-jump through the air as if propelled by an unknown yet seizure-inducing force.
Awesome to see you play this game! I've always loved this game and it's quite fun if you can get over the insane difficulty! It's quite the underrated classic in my opinion! I've never quite beaten it though, that final stage is brutal! I think I'll see about dusting this game off and finally giving it another go soon!
I'll give Nintendo's R&D1 studio _SOME_ credit here, this might be the most creative use of NES Zapper.... Shooting the f*ck out of someone in order to progress xD. Gumshoe deserves to be brought back in some fashion. If Nintendo could release Devil World in the US for the very first time, so to could they resurrect Mr. Stevenson.
0:38 Oh, so that's where the AVGN video game got the idea of those Death Blocks come from? They looked alot like the same block designs from the AVGN game. 3:52 At least him touching that block didn't instantly killed him like in the AVGN game.
Great game and kudos on getting the Aligator to show itself. It takes 10 shots to kill and only shows if you get stuck in the lake and the it will emerge right on you. But keeping its head up for as long as it did, I’ve never seen.
I have a soft spot for this game. Still don't get how Nintendo keeps ignoring its existence, even in Smash Bros. The other first party Zapper titles seem to have good representation, with Duck Hunt obviously taking the crown.
Which is funny because "Wild Gunman" (a Nintendo game immortalized in "Back to the Future 2") actually came out before "Duck Hunt," and in Japan, the Zapper looked more like a toy cowboy revolver. Also, I think the reasons Nintendo ignores "Gumshoe," is because it was only released in America, (like Kid Icarus 2 for Gameboy) and because the Islander NPC at 10:54 might cause controversy nowadays.
Wow I always thought this was like Hogan's Alley, nope! It's basically Balloon Fight/Kid with the Zapper. Nintendo sure was willing to take chances back then, all sorts of wildly different games.
The flashing is how the NES Zapper registers collision detection. See those white spots that appear within a frame of each other? Those are the hitboxes if you fired the Zapper there
Gumshoe was probably the only NES Zapper game that played exactly like the arcade version. It wasn't butchered like Duck Hunt and Hogan's Alley. However, it's the least memorable of the bunch.
Least memorable my ass. It was just as great as the other Zapper games, and unlike many other NES black box games, this one felt more like a complete game, much like Super Mario Bros and Metroid.
Man, this game was tough as nails. But yeah, it's a shame it remained pretty obscure in comparison to its contemporaries. I guess part of the reason for that was because Nintendo made it exclusively for western audiences. I still think it would be neat for them to bring it back in some fashion someday though, along with some of their other lesser-known franchises (Star Tropics, anyone? 😉).
Loved this game growing up. Too bad my original NES console doesn’t work. I’m pretty sure you can’t play this on the combo pack, since there’s no place to put the gun.
He's at 10:55 and I'm guessing he's the reason this game wasn't rereleased on WiiU Virtual Console with the other Zapper games. (Wild Gunman, Duck Hunt, Hogan's Alley, and Beyou Billy.)
I didn't think I'd see and learn about an early NES light-gun game where you navigate an orthodox man of a certain Abrahamic religion on a jog by shooting at him, but here we are, LOL. Also, am I the only one that thinks the monster armadillo looks like a reskin of King Koopa from the OG _Super Mario Bros._ ? I'd also like to say that some of these level backgrounds look like they could have been templates for the then upcoming _Yume Kojo: Doki Doki Panic_ , the game that would eventually become the global version of _Super Mario Bros. 2_ . Nice playthrough. Reposted and edited so I don't sound like an anti-Semite, which I am not.
we didn't see him get the diamonds, should they have made this a Black Panther marvel game instead, that would explain why the character is jumping like that, that guy seems like he wouldn't have the strength to jump around , i didnt' read the description, i didn't know you were supposed to use the light gun with this game and your tv
Remember when Nintendo's A team made a Zapper-based platformer starring an overweight accountant who flies when shot?
Pepperidge Farm remembers
This is sick! I never knew about this zapper game.
Custer's Revenge 2 is looking weird.
Ah cmon the isn't that heavy
accountant
At times I wished that Nintendo would re-release it in some way or manner. It looks like a lot of fun!
This game was bane of my existence as a kid. Never could beat it. There are still probably holes in the walls of my old house to this day.
It's flappy bird with a middle-aged office worker and a ton of death blocks.
Ah, life in the city. I too know the joys of taking my Saturdays and driving out to the Giant Skull Murder Brick Building District to just set my seat back and relax as I watch terrified detectives Luigi-jump through the air as if propelled by an unknown yet seizure-inducing force.
The skull blocks in this game proved a major inspiration to Angry Video Game Nerd Adventures as well.
We need the NES-Zapper and Super-Scope titles on the NSO service
Now we know where all of those "death blocks" in the AVGN games came from.
That's what I've also noticed immediately
which is weird cuz the AVGN himself never even addressed this game
During an era in which video games in general were weird, this stood out to me as especially weird. Glad I got to play the arcade game as a kid.
Nobody really talks about Gumshoe these days. Pretty amusing little game though.
they was such a fun game! they don't make such classics like this anymore.

We’re not worthy to see the glorious return of Gumshoe.
Stevenson.
Did they ever amiibo him
If you're gonna bring back a Nintendo franchise, bring back Punchout!
@@ninjamaster3453 Nope.
If you think about it, this is a platformer based predecessor of flappy bird and those point n click games such as pacman 2
Yeah, I thought Pac-Man 2 as well when I was playing it.
Glad to know this is the game those death blocks come from for the avgn game
0:38 Oh, so that's where the AVGN video game got the idea of those Death Blocks come from? They looked alot like the same block designs from the AVGN game.
3:52 At least him touching that block didn't instantly killed him like in the AVGN game.
This was like one of the earliest video games I ever played.. Probably like 3 games behind Super Mario Brothers.. Thank you!
I mean it looks like a black box era game after all
Thank you for the nostalgia trip. Never beat this game.
The bonus where you shoot oil cans was the best
One of my fav games as a kid
Great game and kudos on getting the Aligator to show itself. It takes 10 shots to kill and only shows if you get stuck in the lake and the it will emerge right on you. But keeping its head up for as long as it did, I’ve never seen.
Is this what would have happened to Mario if his game failed and had a mid-life crisis as a private investigator high on nitrious oxide?
i've never heard of this, why is this guy allowed to float, he is not a supernatural being
Call me crazy, but I had the sneaking suspicion that I would encounter an evil reptile named Yowser.
I'm pretty sure this game inspired Pac-Man 2, which has the player aiming and shooting a slingshot to get Pac-Man moving in the right direction.
Ahhh gumshoe, this needs to be remastered for the PS6
It is very difficult. Pretty sure the Vs. version came first. In that version the Stage 2 tune theme sounds very similar to 𝘞𝘢𝘭𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘯 𝘚𝘶𝘯𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘦.
Yeah, it's one of the hardest Zapper games imo.
I used to put the zapper right on the screen to play it…😂
I have a soft spot for this game. Still don't get how Nintendo keeps ignoring its existence, even in Smash Bros. The other first party Zapper titles seem to have good representation, with Duck Hunt obviously taking the crown.
I've always found this game as intriguing as it is difficult. Great to see a walkthrough for it! 👍
Which is funny because "Wild Gunman" (a Nintendo game immortalized in "Back to the Future 2") actually came out before "Duck Hunt," and in Japan, the Zapper looked more like a toy cowboy revolver.

every one that played this as a kid is about my age now. 😂
My experience was the Zapper was not accurate enough, making this extraordinarily challenging. Cool premise, though!
Wow I always thought this was like Hogan's Alley, nope! It's basically Balloon Fight/Kid with the Zapper. Nintendo sure was willing to take chances back then, all sorts of wildly different games.
He looks like a public flasher
I thought the same. It's that coat! 😂
Gum on the shoe, "candy" in the coat, eh?
“Yeah, right, you ain’t got no nudity under there!” - Strong Bad.
So much flashing lol
I'm surprised NoA didn't remove the guy in the thumbnail
To enter the hidden areas of each stage collect twenty balloons before the black panther diamond
I had this wonderful game ! Love the music
Epilepsy warning lol.
😅
It's pretty much Epilepsy: The Game.
Shake, rattle and roll
The flashing is how the NES Zapper registers collision detection. See those white spots that appear within a frame of each other? Those are the hitboxes if you fired the Zapper there
Gumshoe was probably the only NES Zapper game that played exactly like the arcade version. It wasn't butchered like Duck Hunt and Hogan's Alley. However, it's the least memorable of the bunch.
I can assure you I will never forget about a random dude flying by getting shot
Least memorable my ass. It was just as great as the other Zapper games, and unlike many other NES black box games, this one felt more like a complete game, much like Super Mario Bros and Metroid.
Villain: KING DOM!
gumshoe very good
Ya estoy presente para ver el vídeo 🤘🏼

I had PTSD for years from this game
the og flappy bird but played with the zapper
Great game!
Loved this game growing up. Too bad my original NES console doesn’t work. I’m pretty sure you can’t play this on the combo pack, since there’s no place to put the gun.
Childhood 😊😊
I really hated that final boss.
where in the game is that islander that he is talking to in the thumbnail?
He's at 10:55 and I'm guessing he's the reason this game wasn't rereleased on WiiU Virtual Console with the other Zapper games. (Wild Gunman, Duck Hunt, Hogan's Alley, and Beyou Billy.)
Perfect game to get a seizure.
Dick Gumshoe
4:24 I'M HUGE.
Now can you play Kirby's Dream Land 2 DX please? 🥺
Anyone unlock the hidden Rasta island?

It's Peppa Pig's dad hopping around

Seizure warning
Did you recorded this from the original hardware or a patched ROM on emulator?
It's emulated.
greetings fellow adults... 🤣
i hate this game
What a terrible game!🤦🏼♀️😅
It was 1986! They were figuring things out!
Bro it's the game of all time
Remember when this dude's shoe said "chew 5 gum"?
That made the game sell 1 gumshillion copies
I like it.
👍👍👍 Nostalgic game!
nostalgic game❤, I like the fact that we have to shoot the poor protagonists to advance LOL
This was the only zapper gun game that I liked.
