This is the moment I literally melted for Jessie L. Martin,.. omg what a voice of hotness :-) I so loved the whole show and all the cast. Shows like this and Boston Legal The Good Wife, The West Wing are so very much missed.
I just binge watched Ally McBeal on Hulu. I loved the show when it was on in the 90s. It seemed like the show fell apart when Robert Downey Jr and I hated to see it end. The music in the show was fabulous.

It was literally an on going part of the show...this was often complained about by all the characters...that she would take the lime light...both her and, Elaine, they would constantly try to out sing each other and the other girls, and take focus away for themselves... But also, it was supposed to be a LOVE SONG for ALLY, and her so called best friend gets up and goes up there and takes his focus off Ally...that's not having your girls back...

Amazing duet and mashup of Leiber & Stoller’s “Love Me” (Jesse L. Martin starts) and “Don’t” (Lisa Nicole Carson segues in). It’s a brilliant arrangement performed by two outstanding (and gorgeous 😍) vocalists. I’m new to “Ally McBeal”-yep, I’ve managed to avoid it for 23 years-but the musical numbers by house chanteuse Vonda Shepard (as herself), Jane Krakowski (as Elaine), Jennifer Holliday (as the gospel choir’s leader) and a host of other guest stars (Al Green, Barry White, Gladys Knight, Tina Turner - maybe more to come [I’m on Season 3]) are truly inspired and far make up for the creepy dancing baby.
I’ve watched this clip at least 25 times and it’s one of my favorites. Lisa Nichole Carson is a wonderful artist and I always loved the shows where she was singing.

I read rumors that showbiz took a toll on her mental health. I hope she's okay now and still singing somewhere...

I believe they knew what they were doing, but it was lost on me. Well, not lost-I guess it was meant to represent Ally's biological clock in a fun and odd fashion, but eek! Lol.

If you have ever fully followed the show at any point (I'm almost feeling you haven't based on this comment...), you know she was actually pretty into him at that point. Billy wasn't on her mind as much then cuz Ally & Greg were starting to fall for each other. In fact, HE was the one holding out on her b/c he knew he was leaving soon. She WANTED to give it to him lol and made it clear plenty of times even in that episode. And in fact, this song was a little bit his way of making amends as they had fought about it shortly before this :)

It was pretty much a motif in the show that she was always unlucky in love also...Literally EVERY time things started to go really well with her and a guy, sm'n would happen to mess it up 🤣🤣
The music and the young up coming actors, they gave their best and it showed! That's what made Ally Mcbeal show the best !!
