The answer is so simple. The time to take the soul in worldly time is very very short like a few sec. The pain prophet (sm) felt was for like a few hours. The pain was from the disease he was going through not the removal of soul. And the hadith says that the soul will taken out smoothly but it doesn't mean that it would be absolutely painless. Allah S.W.T has ordained the taste of death for every single being in the world and hence there is no escaping from that. And Allah S.W.T knows the best

Thats an issue of dispute. Most preferable opinion is that its only 1 Angel of Death, but he is accompanied with several other angles. Those are either Angles of Mercy or Angels of Punishment
It is Angel of death Allah appointed only 1 Angel to take the souls of every living creature.....

He said that process of dying might be exhausting and someone is in pain while dies, because you mostly don’t feel happy when you are dying, after you close your eyes or in other words die, you soul comes from your body, thats part where either you get painful death or “easy” death.

The moments before death you might feel at peace or be in agony. But right whem you appear dead for everyone and are declared clinically dead, in that moment in the unseen the soul of a disbeliever suffers incredible pain and fear even though he felt peace not even 0.0001seconds ago.
On the same side, a muslim who died a painful death, will feel ease during that moment
The physical suffering in the moments before death is visible and observable. We can only 'see' what's going on with the person on the deathbed and what pain he's going through, whether he's a believer or a disbeliever. But when the time of the departure of the soul comes, that is a process which we DO NOT SEE which is completely unseen, from the moment the soul is escaping from the physical body, till when the soul is completely taken out of it, and THAT is the time when the believer doesn't suffer, while the disbeliever does, but we can never see or visualize what's going on in that moment with the naked eye, since this is a matter of the unseen and happens behind the veil, irrespective of the person being a believer or a disbeliever. Hope it's clear now, and Allah knows best.
The Hadith is talking about the extraction of the soul. The Prophet pbuh was not having his soul extracted at the moments of pain.

When Allah love his servant he trials him Allah gave the prophet saw hardship and he had sabr Allah wanted to give him more on the day of judgment we have to realise that our burden are a blessing for us on the day of judgment people will be crying that they didn’t suffer in this world when they see the rewards of those who did
From what i read from the story prophet pbuh is talking about the pain exactly when his soul is being extracted, so what i understand even the angel of death doing it carefully its still painful. I dont know if its saheeh seerah or not.
