    Video covers how to find the slope of a ramp. You will often find the format for describing a ramp as a ratio. The video explains what a 1:12 ratio means and 1:16 ratio and how to apply this to finding the slpe of a ramp, and what the dimensions of the ramp should be.

    So in laymans terms you take your hight in inches and multiply by 12 or 16?
    Seems faster and easier then all the extra steps.
    But thats for me, but
    Your break down did help alot. So thank you.
    I left alot out but in my weird brain came to same measurement as you.

    how would i figure out using the 1/16 ratio, but my ramp includes another ramp added to it so my ramp doesn't look or be too long without enough space for it, so i would need to build the ramp and then might to split it to land somewhere instead at front of the rise of the first ramp?

      Shawnie - if this is a legit question you need a 16”h X 16’ L X W... how wide do you want it is the deciding factor for the complete dimension. The slope in percentage is 8.33, the slope in degrees is 4.86 degrees... close enough to 5 degrees of a slope for your ramp, if my calculations are correct, which I’m pretty certain they are, because I’m not using “new math”.

    I am coming up with a different answer and a simpler way to solve for x, simply take the run of 16 inches and convert to a decimal of 1.33. then multiply the rise of 32 inches times the run of 1.33 and you will get a total run of 42.56 feet. not sure how it could be 40 feet....

    Okay. But there's still a transition in a vehicular ramp. How to solve the transition at both ends?

    • @Patriot_Drone_Services
      @Patriot_Drone_Services 4 роки тому +1

      Faith Ingrid Caylan the question on a vehicle ramp is what is the intended purpose of the ramp. If you want to vault a car a certain distance there is a mathematical equation specifically for this it is called the “vault” formula. I used it to determine minimum speeds vehicles were traveling in fatality traffic accident investigations. The great thing about this formula, is you can plug in the known numbers to find an answer of an unknown. You can move the numbers around in a formula to answer a vast array of questions to vault a car. E.G. I want to vault a car xx feet... the given number is what is the total weight of car, from there you have to plug in the number estimates such as terminal speed at the point the car leaves the ramp, what percentage of the slope of the ramp will I need to attain the distance at the given speed, in order to determine this, you will first need to determine the horizontal distance of the ramp and the height of the ramp, a steep angle will transfer the energy of the vehicle as it hits the ramp, flexing the ramp and loading (compressing) the suspension up, and at an unwanted point the suspension will unload causing the vehicle to pre-vault (or get light) and begin oscillating. Too long of a ramp and the vehicle will travel less distance by the applied physics of gravity, loss of horizontal momentum directly losing the vertical lift, equivalent to driving off a cliff... I went a long way around the barn to say there are a lot more calculations needed, just based on what the intent of the ramp is used for to determine what the proper transition angles would be for the designed purpose of the ramp.
