I worked nearby in the early 70s and I'm amazed at how much Soho and China Town has changed. It was really rough and ready then, Carnaby St was full of independent hippy shops. Kingly St was very dark, dank and quite unappealing - no posh shops or restaurants. It was thought inadvisable to walk down Greek St and Frith St on your own. You saw a lot of celebs but no-one took any notice. It was considered to be a bit of a dodgy area but it had so much character, I and my friends loved it. Like so many places it's been tarted up, especially for the tourists. I think it's a shame but inevitable of course

thank you Sinead for such an interesting tour of Piccadilly Circus to Soho. I lived in south east London and passed through Piccadilly when I did parcel courier work when I was young and I mostly visited a record store called " Dobells " that only sold new or second-hand jazz records.so
I know a bit of Soho and Regent Street. Now I am 80 and divorced and live in Clacton. I hope you do not mind my comments. Keep on making your London videos, take care of yourself, best regards to you and your team.

I bought a very expensive hair brush at Fortnum & Mason, expecting it to last a life time. It lasted only a few months. Strangely, I found the very same make of brush in the same size, on the floor in Regent Street. Having no shame, I picked it up and have had it now for about 3 years. Still in perfect condition. Result 😊

Brilliant, watching this video has brought back so many really great memories, me and my sister were in soho in 1980/81 and I’ll never forget the great times that we had on the streets of soho, I shouldn’t really say this but, we were up to all sorts and getting ourselves into all kinds of trouble but no harm done thankfully we saw all kinds of stars mainly music stars, great days that’s for sure, we were only kids though surviving I guess, thanks for posting this video onto UA-cam I’ve thoroughly enjoyed watching this video so thank you.

oK... so inquiring minds want to know... On Firth... near John Snows house is a place called Olssons Garlic and Shots... I am guessing at one time... that building too was 3/4 stores tall ...but, now... steel seem to support the building on each side... can you tell me why??? Was this a causality of the war/blitz?? or just old run down... fell down... I love little history things like this.... Also.... thanks again for another wonderful tour... and the noses... that is so fun! Sinead... you are the rock star of tour guides!!!
