One of the best female singers to ever walk this planet, vocally perfect, amazing tone, absolutely brilliant, true talent who voice never changed. Many other great female vocalists, but what puts Donna a notch up on everyone is she could sing any genre of music from Rock to Disco and has Grammy awards is 4 genre's of music. Donna also had the reputation in the industry as "one take Donna". She could would walk in to record a song and nail it on the first take. Another great singer way before the Donna, Whitney and Chaka Khan and Whitney was Della Reese. AMAZING VOICE!!!!
GXL sorry but as good as Donna is, she’s nowhere near Whitney. Whitney could sing: pop, rock, RnB, gospel, jazz, opera and Broadway. Also Whitney had complete mastery of her entire voice from lower register to head voice. And yes Donnas voice did deteriorate as she aged, she was unable to sustain these notes as she aged, her breath support was severely diminished. Even during her heydays she sometimes struggled with sustaining belts live. As great as Donna was, she pales compared to Whitney-in almost every aspect including touring and music sales. I won’t take away from Donna since I grew up on her music and I love her music and her established and deserved name of Queen of Disco. But vocally Whitney was far superior to Donna.
👑 D.S. Yes,she was. Fantastic backup singers on all of her records. Some of her sisters did backup for while touring through out Donna's career. 👍 They were excellent!
A great song that Donna Summer and Giorgio moroder wrote when I was a DJ I used to play all Donna Summer disco songs fantastic song the queen of the Disco rest in peace Donna Summer
Donna Summer, her long time producer Giorgio Morodur , and the label that she belonged to Casablanca Records, were all iconic in the mid to late seventies, they came together to make Donna Summer a mega Disco star and made millions, so much so that Donna Summer was the very image and face of the whole Disco Era, even though there were so many great artists and disco music in those years. She had hits in the 80’s and a few hits in the 90’s, but she will always be remembered as the undisputed ‘70’s Queen Of Disco!
Donna Summer was a force to be reckoned with. “I love you is simply one of her best singles. And so uplifting. Danced to this song at the disco back in 1977. Love it to this day.
This from her , " Once Upon Time " Album...I know you're big Donna fan ..you'll love it more from her , "Live and More"..concert concert album.. Where she performs it as part of medley of songs from that same Once Upon Ablum..And she absolutely kills it all the songs in that medley . You can get the full effect of the spellbinding magic of her powerful yet beautiful voice..❤!
She was bigger then disco and she outlasted it but yes this is one of my all time faves from her. I could have seen Whitney remaking this! I be doing the Donna dance too-haha!
I have been a Donna Summer Fan since the movie. TGIF - Last Dance - Didn't do that one last month? That's OK since there are just Tooooo many great songs from movies.THANK YOU And speaking of Disco, the movie Xanadu with Olivia Newton John was about building a roller skating disco. Greats songs from that movie (although it didn't do good at the box office.) RIP Olivia and THANK YOU for your wonderful body of work.
What a voice!!! We used to discuss whether she or Chaka Khan was better - fact is they are both incredible! Seriously listen to Chaka Khan on an album called Echoes of an Era singing "Them There Eyes" or "Take the A Train". old jazz songs being played by Chick Corea with piano, bass, trumpet, and SAXOPHONE solos. You will love it and it is a different genre than you usually do. Also for impossible-not-to-chair-dance-to music and the best voices you will hear out there, listen to Pentatonix doing their Daft Punk (won a Grammy and they created a whole category just for this group) or the "90's Dance Medley" - you will be amazed and have a ton of fun!!!
Hi Angela. I would love u to do some reactions from Donna's last album she ever did, CRAYONS! In my opinion it is the best album she ever did after On the Radio. Her voice got even richer, more powerful, and more chameleon like as she got older even when she started getting her talent just kept on constantly growing. She scored not one, not two, but three number one hits on the Billboard dance charts with this fantastic album. I'm a Fire, Fame the Game, and Stamp Your Feet. U owe it to yourself as a Donna Summer fan to hear this album and to use your channel as a platform to share Donna's magic with as many people as possible. I especially love Fame, stamp your Feet, and the Queen is Back but it's hard to pick a favorite cause every song on the album is a masterpiece. And so many different styles from rock to dance to ballads to southern blues hence the title Crayons indicating every song is a different color. LOVE HER AND LOVE U!
That is actually not true. Unfortunately, back in earlier days of the dance charts in the 70's, they didn't release a bunch of singles for the dance charts. Bad Girls all cuts top the Dance Charts from May 26th til the week of July 7th , on the Dance Charts, Donna would be a super prolific artist on that chart if they did (like Madonna). The other Top spot in 1979, came from her album On The Radio with the Streisand duet remix of No More Tears which spent 4 weeks on the top of the Dance Chart.
I agree with you 100%. Love Crayons and your song suggestions. People do not give Donna the credit for having number one hits until she died. The most underrated singer ever.
Hey sweetie I think you are a beautiful woman and I JUST love your reaction I grew up listening to Karen CARPENTER she was absolutely a very beautiful person like you my name is Todd Carpenter I think you need to listen to TOUCH ME WHEN WE'RE DANCING BY THE CARPENTER
Donna Summer is a legend 🪩
Donna was Queen

I went to more Donna Summer concerts than I can count. Donna live was completely untethered and without comparison!

Donna Summer was awesome, no doubt about it. I'd really love to see you react to her song This Time I Know It's For Real
Commanding vocals with precision and pitch perfect and those musical arrangements soar. One of Donna’s best
Donna Summer was a force to be reckoned with. “I love you is simply one of her best singles. And so uplifting. Danced to this song at the disco back in 1977. Love it to this day.
This was my jam in the 70's.....still 🔥
