8 years later, and I just saw him last night for the 2nd time (1st in 2013 at glasto). It was honestly quite overwhelmingly emotional when he played this, because it's one of those timeless pieces that brings you back to where you were when you first heard it. I feel like I've watched Ben grow since the beginning and almost grown with him, as a person and as a musician. It's a rare thing when you feel this strange esoteric connection to an artist you love dearly.
I lived to tell. Winter show in Italy 🇮🇹 and an acoustic version of this song. I just wanna go back and share your smile, my beloved aunt Ana. From summertime in Brasil 🇧🇷 2023. And I still have SO MANY WORDS aunt.
I feel like he's been performing the song slower and slower as time goes on (if you were to compare this to the album version, or to a live performance from 8 months ago where he also slows it down). I think the manipulation/flexibility of the tempo demonstrates what the song says conceptually. I've always loved this song, but I appreciate the way different versions speak to me about my experience/perception of time during the depressive episode I'm going through. It's as if the song changes with me.
Can't wait to see the next new album. Every kingdom and then I forget where we were were an completely evolution of the mentality about music: new sounds, atmosphere. I'm curious to see next album !
me too! that album must be great! and i forget where we were album atmosphere... so nice, i love the new sounds and the songs are just incredible... best artist by far in my ranking haha
Oh, hey I wasn't listening I was watching Syria blinded by the sunshine strip And you, you were in the kitchen Oh, your mariner's mouth The wounded with the wounder's whip And that's how summer passed oh The great dividing range of green, green grass Oh, maybe it was peace at last, who knew Hello love, my invincible friend Hello love, the thistle and the burr Hello love, for you I have so many words But I, I forget where we were Oh, hey I wasn't listening I was stung by all of us The blind leading out the bored And as per usual You were skipping and laughing eyes at the bedroom door "Don't take it so seriously, no Only time is ours, the rest we'll just wait and see!" Maybe you're right, babe, maybe Oh, no, and that's how summer passed Oh the great dividing range, the green green grass And, oh, maybe I hold on fast to you Hello love, my invincible friend Hello love, the thistle and the burr Hello love, for you I have so many words But I, I forget where we were I, I forget where we were I forget where we were I forget where we were Oh, no, and that's how summer passed Oh, your, great dividing range, the green green grass Oh, maybe it was peace at last, who knew
Are you f*cking kidding me? Playing with his hand upside down now? While casually chewing gum and dishing out flawless vocals? Just when we thought Ben couldn't get any more amazing.

jeppep95 the slides on the a and e string on the main riff are very difficult to preform holding the neck normally as you can’t help but mute the open strings because of position you’re fingers and hand are in... so I believe to achieve the best possible sound he plays it this way. Very cool technique to be honest!
He actually said when he performed this song either on the late late show or some other American talk show, his hands/fingers are too small to play the notes correctly, so he had to play it over the neck as opposed to under it.
this song is a masterpiece. i listen to it religiously

The drummer makes it so different from his original song. I come to well so often I forget where I was!

There's no one else like him. This music is in a class of its own.

Ben Howard is unequivocally one of the greatest artists of our time. We are so lucky to live in the era of this once in a lifetime musician.

I can't decide if I like it slightly slower, the melody and lyrics don't seem to flow quite as well. But it gives it a more intense feel
Mickey Smith is the man
he really looks hotter than usual
Class 🤟
Is no one talking about how fuckin WILD his guitar playing is??? What even is he doing?? I am astounded and need answers ASAP
He plays with different tunings and has cool effects on
You can get lots of different sounds that way 😆
I’d recommend it if you play guitar

Is this an old performance that has been re-uploaded? Publish date says April 2016 but this song isn't new.

3 People to play Chris bonds part :)
Not one to question lyrics but ....I heard this might be reference to popular culture . Any ideas ?
he does mention being distracted by the tv at the start but I think this is a breakup song
Why does he play parts of the song with the hand over the guitar neck? instead of of the regular way of playing guitar?
