It's so funny to see you uploaded this just an hour ago. You are so special to us! Thanks for making his quarantine birthday extra cool :)
If this doesn't work out, try looking up a "crazy cake" recipe. It has very limited ingredients and it does the trick! If you have powdered sugar and butter/margarine/shortening, you can make a buttercream frosting. Otherwise, if you have chocolate and cream/creamer/milk, you can make a chocolate ganache to use as frosting. :) Happy birthday to him! Stay safe!
I’m a preschool teacher that often preps/serves my class meals. I use kitchen scissors to cut everything -pancakes, waffles, grilled cheese. It’s so much faster!
If someone made that for me, considering the situation, I'd be honored to think that someone would take the time, and use what they had. Thank you for posting, Emmy. You are a precious jewel in the crown of humanity.
In Brazil there's a dish called "torta fria" made with layers of rectangular crustless white bread with tuna paste in between that uses mayo or mashed potatoes as frosting.
Reminds me of icebox cakes we had growing up. It's delicious! Sandwich together jam (seedless raspberry is my favorite) and whipped cream together between two graham crzckers, standing them up on their side as you continue to add more crackers on with jam and cream. Keep the order of jam on one side and cream on the other in the same order to create the repeating pattern. When it is as long as you want it, cover with whipped cream. Refrigerate overnight to soften the crackers. The magic is to cut the corner off and make all slices on this diagonal. Each slice will have lovely stripes of brown, red, and white. So yummy!
I have the same mixer. I also plan on never buying another. Love my kitchen aid. Today is my daughters 32nd birthday. We got to celebrate with her, but my son had his birthday yesterday and he is in quarantine with his roommates 😞
@@TheWarrrenator Funnily enough, I'm an Aries married to an Aries, and we get along swimmingly. I think Aries get a bad rap for having tempers, and yes, I do have a temper, but smart Aries learn to manage their tempers pretty quickly and know how to manage other people's tempers. So my husband and I have actually never fought in our nine years of marriage. We fight our problems as a team instead of being adversaries.
When I was growing up, we had only nonfat dry milk in our home- no fresh milk. I don’t know exactly why- we didn’t live at the South Pole or anything. Maybe the dry milk was just cheaper (back then; it’s more expensive now). Anyway, we used the milk powder for cooking and prepared a variety of dairy products from it. We would mix the powder with water to get a two-quart pitcher of reconstituted milk. The flavor improved if you aged it in the refrigerator for a couple of days (although I don’t know why). We also made the whipped topping shown here sometimes. I think the main reason it doesn’t taste right (if you’re expecting whipped cream) is that it’s nonfat milk. Cream contains a lot of fat.

My birthday is coming up soon and my boyfriend told me that amazon (which he ordered my birthday present from) has delivery difficulties because of corona. So I told him to bake me a cake for my birthday. Turns out in germany (where we live) all the flour sold out because of hoarders (lucky we got toilet paper :D) Now my last chance to get a birthday cake is a box cake, wich isn't bad either. but this is a great way to make a birthday cake with no other choices left. When I was a child, 100 years ago, there was a cream substitute for whipped cream called Dream Whip. Dried milk really is the underappreciated king of easy dessert. Ofcourse here in straya we are blessed with all in all better supermarket commodities, that being said you yanks have us beat in dining out and takeaway. XD Thanks again, just firing them off on this channel! And how indeed any year further is a year worth celebrating.
watching you use the dry milk powder reminds me of the 2008 recession, my family had it hard. we couldn't afford too much of anything, just whatever we could get from the food shelters, and one of those items was dry milk powder. SO, my mom would just mix it with warm water, and we'd wait for it to cool, then use that for our cereal and stuff. My family had it ROUGH, being that my father was the only provider and he was having a hard time finding work, so we had to make do with what we had. 11years later, my family is still "broke" but not "broke" broke, since me and my siblings all work now. BLESSED.
Emmy, bless you for keeping us thinking about something other than world events for a few minutes. Your videos are so appreciated! I had to scroll through the comments to see if anybody else mentioned this but don't think anybody did...back when immersion blenders were first hitting the consumer market there would be infomercials and home shopping demonstrations of how you could magically make whipped topping from nonfat milk. I bet you could still find some of those and include a test of that in a future video. Stay well!

It's his birthday today, and I hopped on UA-cam to see if I could find a recipe for a birthday cake that I could make with limited ingredients. It's so funny to see you uploaded this just an hour ago. You are so special to us! Thanks for making his quarantine birthday extra cool :)
HEY!!!
happy birthday lady :)
Stay safe out there luv
🤜👍🤛♡♡♡
If this doesn't work out, try looking up a "crazy cake" recipe. It has very limited ingredients and it does the trick! If you have powdered sugar and butter/margarine/shortening, you can make a buttercream frosting. Otherwise, if you have chocolate and cream/creamer/milk, you can make a chocolate ganache to use as frosting. :) Happy birthday to him! Stay safe!
Happy birthday to your husband~ take care dear, stay healthy and happy..
Hello 👋 how are you doing today
You know it’s bad when she says “it has to be about THE PROCESS” of making it
I mean, who doesn't want *cooked milk* flavor...?
Funny since this is marketed as only 15 minutes. Much less process than just making an actual cake.
Woot...I have that exact same stand mixer. Big investment 16 years ago, and still working. Worth every cent.
I'm just imagining doing this with cinnamon raisin bread and apple butter with real whipped cream (we usually have heavy cream in the house.)
Omg I was gonna do that since I don't have jam/jelly 😂
Yes please. Yum.
Ooooo
During such an awful, anxiety filled time, it’s so nice to put on your videos and kind of forget for a minute. Thanks Emmy! We love you! ❤️❤️❤️
Bless your family for eating all your experiments!
Hello 👋 how are you doing today
I’m a preschool teacher that often preps/serves my class meals. I use kitchen scissors to cut everything -pancakes, waffles, grilled cheese. It’s so much faster!
Brilliant! I love cutting pizza with scissors. 😉
emmymadeinjapan 🥰
Yes to pizza! I was just going to suggest that. I love using my kitchen shears for pizza 😂
I use my kitchen shears for everything, literally, even some veggies. If I can have my shears and a set of chopsticks I can cook about anything.
I threw up a lil

Reminds me of icebox cakes we had growing up. It's delicious! Sandwich together jam (seedless raspberry is my favorite) and whipped cream together between two graham crzckers, standing them up on their side as you continue to add more crackers on with jam and cream. Keep the order of jam on one side and cream on the other in the same order to create the repeating pattern. When it is as long as you want it, cover with whipped cream. Refrigerate overnight to soften the crackers. The magic is to cut the corner off and make all slices on this diagonal. Each slice will have lovely stripes of brown, red, and white. So yummy!
Hello 👋 how are you doing today
I have the same mixer. I also plan on never buying another. Love my kitchen aid. Today is my daughters 32nd birthday. We got to celebrate with her, but my son had his birthday yesterday and he is in quarantine with his roommates 😞
Graciesmom 2018 Two Aries kids? You are a saint, mama!
What size mixer do you have?
@@TheWarrrenator Funnily enough, I'm an Aries married to an Aries, and we get along swimmingly. I think Aries get a bad rap for having tempers, and yes, I do have a temper, but smart Aries learn to manage their tempers pretty quickly and know how to manage other people's tempers. So my husband and I have actually never fought in our nine years of marriage. We fight our problems as a team instead of being adversaries.
TheWarrrenator one on the 26th and 1 on the 28th. 5 years between. And yes, they were challenging lol
Briana Morris it’s a kitchen aid professional 500, lift bowl. Mine is a flat black colour.
What fun memories Emmy's family will have! Can you imagine being so creative and having such curiosity develop as a family? Awesome!
Thank you for being so positive and upbeat! I appreciate your kindness in helping us connect during this very interesting period of our lives. Just imagine - in 30 years your kids are going to be bragging to their kids about how Gramma made a video on how to make a bread, jelly, and powdered milk cake for Grampa and kept 2 million subscribers laughing for 15 minutes instead of worrying about a coronavirus. Thank you!
Hello 👋 how are you doing today
Happy birthday Mr. emmymadeinjapan!!
his name is Karayoshi Idatakimas
I LOVE watching you! You are so pleasant. You are always such a good sport to taste all of the recipes, and you’re honest about how each dish tastes. 👩🏻🍳 I learn something new from you in each video.
Hello 👋 how are you doing today
This is a variation of summer pudding, which uses actual berries and whipped cream. It’s a clever adaptation, I must say.
sandihj I was going to say this is a lot like a desert we eat during the summer, but usually use pound cake and fresh strawberries with whipped cream. It’s delicious!
Yes, the old recipe in Joy was my favorite. With good raw butter and cream and berries from the garden!
Oh hey, surprisingly relevant! My birthday's on Wednesday! Happy borth to all of yall who are also stuck in quarantine for your birthdays and anniversaries and such!
(Also: You inspired me in one of your other vids to make that whipped coffee stuff and use it as frosting for my cake. I'm so hype to try that.)
QUEEN EMMY!! I love you so so much, you are the reason I am staying sane here with this coronavirus stuff. Make sure you are taking care of yourself, stay hydrated and eats lots of good homemade grub!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
HELLO, Haz! I'm glad that my videos help and happy to hear that you're staying-in. Please take care and know that we're gonna be ok. 🌈
There was something really comforting about the beginning of your video Emmy, hearing you say to future viewers what will have happened, and that we are gonna make it through, hearing you say it like that, like it's definitely gonna be okay eventually, that's really refreshing from all the doom and gloom I keep feeling surrounded by while watching the news, your videos are one of the really nice things in my life right now. ^^
hey Emmy, appreciate you continuing the videos during lock down. it give us some semblance of normalcy. been watching for a while now. remember those old MRE videos? kinda fits the current climate LOL
Emmy your aura is just amazing! You have brought light to many during this difficult time! Thank you so much!
Hey Emmy! Long time fan here! Finally in the first 100 viewers! YESSSS!
Hope you and your family is doing well with everything going on!.
Thank you. 🙏🏼I hope you and yours are well. Take care!
@@emmymade Yes we are doing swimmingly.... Started our self isolation as of yesterday to do our part in helping to slow the spread of CoVid19 down here.
Also, THANK YOU so much for replying. It's rare when I have one of my favorite youtubers reply, and it makes me feel so happy when they do....
Take care!
I love your hair in this video! It’s really cute!
I love a birthday cake!! Hope all is well Emmy. Happy Birthday to Hubby.
Hello 👋 how are you doing today
Affirming that white bread is essentially cake. Also can we take a minute to appreciate Emmy's strength? Those Kitchen Aid mixers are HEAVY, she put it on the counter like it was a plastic bowl!
as always a ray of golden sunshine in dire times. Thank you emmy. Hope you and your family are all well =) Same goes for everyone reading this. Stay safe Stay home and we can get through this together.
Hear, hear!❤️
Her face when she tasted the whipped topping the first time. Absolute mood. Reminded me of when I used semi sweet chocolate instead of unsweetened in a pie a few weeks ago and it was the most sickeningly sweet thing I'd ever tasted.
you can also use good old fashioned dream whip too. good to have in the pantry. not to mention a cake mix or two
Thank you so much Emmy for continuing to make content in this difficult time! please stay safe, and wish you husband a happy birthday! Much love
My birthday is coming up soon and my boyfriend told me that amazon (which he ordered my birthday present from) has delivery difficulties because of corona. So I told him to bake me a cake for my birthday. Turns out in germany (where we live) all the flour sold out because of hoarders (lucky we got toilet paper :D)
Now my last chance to get a birthday cake is a box cake, wich isn't bad either.
but this is a great way to make a birthday cake with no other choices left. If we could'nt get box cake, this would be a great alternative.
love u emmy
Just hearing you say we're gonna be okay actually made me feel alot better. Thanks for providing entertainment and cheer Emmy!
I wonder how the flavour and consistency of the whipped topping would be affected by the addition of a package of fruit-flavoured Jello.
Great question!♡♡♡
If I remember correcyly, my mom made the jello per normal, then whipped in the milk powder until chiffon texture, then chilled in parfait glasses.
Also in the filling
Hello 👋 how are you doing today
I have to admit that I felt moved at the end when you said that it's gonna be okay and that you're thinking of us
Hi Emmy, I was inspired to make Dalgona coffee after watching your video on it. It was amazing watching it all come together!!
Your videos' sound quality along with that soft relaxing music in the background at just the right volume is unsurpassed on the utube platform, haven't come across many channels that perfect it this way...Ur such a perfectionist and give such attention to these details, all of which make for a highly pleasant watching experience. Just wanted to point this out, Great job 👏🏻
looks like something we would make when we were kids.
Mixers are really a miracle. My mum has had hers since the 80s and it still works perfectly
"The bread has the texture of bread" i love you emmy
I’ve been binge watching your videos throughout quarantine and I love them ❤️
The funny thing is that most regular cake ingredients can easily be found in the pantry. I suppose this might be fore people who have no fridge.
You are a wonderful person. Thank you for bringing so much joy and happiness to so many people.
Walmart has light and tall stainless bowls that are great for whipping or chop chop salads. Really cheap. Better than the blue bowl.
Emmy! This is such a helpful video for me! I can’t eat fat (gastroparesis i.e paralysed stomach) so naturally I can’t have cake or cream or most cream substitutes, so to find out I can eat this is amazing! I haven’t eaten cake or cream in two years+. I love how you make unusual food videos as this is not the first time I’ve learn’t a different way to have something I miss. Thank you Emmy!
Maybe I’ll actually have a cake for my 18th bday then if this all doesn’t get better by April
Try looking up a recipe for "crazy cake." Very minimal ingredients and it does the trick. :)
This channel always makes me feel better, especially when I'm having a bad day. Thank you for another brilliant video, Emmy!
I wanna try this with Nutella instead of jam 😍
And French toast instead of plain bread.
When I was a child, 100 years ago, there was a cream substitute for whipped cream called Dream Whip. We couldn't afford cream, so this called for the box (probably fat free milk, ice cold water, whipped for minutes. It tasted like whipped skim milk, but the consistency was whipped and we loved it. I think it's still around.
Fourth comment!!! So excited to see a 15 minute Birthday cake made! 🎂❤️🎂
I love your videos so much. You're not simply just a food channel. You make videos which are time relevant and they're so informative as well as fun and silly stuff. Please keep doing what you do. YOU'RE AWESOME
Wow amazing 😍
I had a similar need to make a cake but it needed to be small too. I should've done this, instead I experimented making mug cakes, made it ok, just covered it in a thick layer of homemade maple buttercream!
Next time make a dalgona tiramisu :)
YUM!!!
♡♡♡
Thanks for sharing Emmy! I hope you are doing well and much love from Montana! ✨💖✨

This would of been helpful for my birthday on March 26 so I can eat a cake!!!
🎂Happy Birthday!

Happy birthday! That was my wedding anniversary.
one of my kiddos birthday was on the 20th. we were already sheltered in place and thankfully she decided to make up muffin cakes which is breakfast muffins topped with cake icing. we had both on hand so she at least got that. she would have been fine if we made something else but since we have to wait till this is over to have a party it was nice to give her what she wanted on her day
this looks yummy thanks emmy- my girlfried loves milk poder she eats a whole bag! haha
Eats it plain and dry?
I'm not the only weird one!!! I eat powdered creamer. Been doing it since i was a kid. Spoonfuls and spoonfuls 😉

I’ve seen this made using unflavored gelatin to stabilize the whipped milk.
Hello 👋 how are you doing today
Dried milk really is the underappreciated king of easy dessert. Did a super dense version of you Cremora Tart take with dried milk standing in for creamer and sweetened condensed milk and the hubby was convinced it was cheese cake. Ofcourse here in straya we are blessed with all in all better supermarket commodities, that being said you yanks have us beat in dining out and takeaway.
XD Thanks again, just firing them off on this channel! And how indeed any year further is a year worth celebrating.
When your mom is healthy so she only has wheat bread and you’re sad because you can’t eat whole wheat cake.
watching you use the dry milk powder reminds me of the 2008 recession, my family had it hard. we couldn't afford too much of anything, just whatever we could get from the food shelters, and one of those items was dry milk powder. BLESSED.
This is the cake you make when you know your partner isn’t going anywhere
Thank you for you fun, positive videos during the pandemic. And you kind words of encouragement. Keep it up.
Me: I want to buy myself a birthday cake.
Husband: We have birthday cake at home.
Birthday cake at home: 🍞 😭
Emmy, thank you for increasing your posts for us in this trying time! Much appreciated!
Emmy: "My husband's birthday is coming up and I need a cake..."
Me: Lol! Yes! Make the cake they literally designed for broke dudes with no wives.
Stay well!
