Just watched Davis & White Notre-Dame-de-Paris. Nice but do not feel they connect in the same way Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir connect together. I prefer Virtue & Moir over David & White. This is just my personal opinion.
Agree with you, Nathalie. Never actually connected with David and White though (and, I'm American, so you'd think it'd be the other way around ! LoL). I hated the faces she would pull as they seemed contrived and inauthentic, so couldn't get past it. Have loved V/M since the 2010 Olympics, so maybe that's why no other couple comes closes (though P/C are also incredible dancers), but I also think it's their connection and respect for each-other and their audience that has kept them successful in such a competitive world.
I saw D/W version of "Shape of you" in American SOI 2018... Their movements are so mechanical and innatural.... They have to make such an effort to seem sexy and really involved.. And finally don't succeed at all..... They are as sensual as a cactus can be and connected like two parallel lines never crossing each other......... The way V/M can move is unmatchable. The same as to chemistry and softness ....And dance is basically movement, connection and softness...........
I did not want to write it the way you did in case I was going to be told it's because I'm Canadian (and French Canadian on top of it! LOL !) but this is exactly how I saw David and White. Their connection never looked genuine to me. I'm sure they love ice dancing and like each other very much but they definitely do not look as "one" on the ice and this is what makes me connect with Virtue and Moir. They become "one" on the ice. It's so beautiful. I feel so much love and tenderness when I watch them skate. It's almost like a therapy to me as each time I see them perform, I feel so connected with life.
