I just disassembled mine this past weekend too. 1st reassembly resulted in less than ideal action, after a 2nd round it's back to it's phenomenal smoothness. Thank you for the reassurance and great content as usual.
I think integrals are obviously less complicated but most have their most own issues with slipping the washers or bearings in. I prefer disassembling standard construction tbh
I have that terrain 365 manual invictus. I disassembled cleaned and lubed it with pivot lube. It is the smoothest manual action I have come across yet.
I took mine apart a month ago. It was very painful until you figure out a couple tricks. As for the washers... Sandwiching them with the blade and inserting them all at once is the easiest way to do it. Second big one is to use a taper or a nail to keep the pivot hole aligned. That allows you to seat the button easier by hyperextending the blade in the open position to allow the button to rest where it needs to go. Regardless... Great video.
@jackmarkham1516 yes. Same kind of idea, especially because of the bushing. The only pain is the fact that it's an integral. You have to pinch the washers slightly, overhanging the edge of the blade and squeeze them into the channel. Once you get the knack of it, a 45 minute tear down and reassembly turns into 10 minutes.
@johndings9917 you're most welcome. I was going to do a tear down and reassembly video on my channel but never got around to it. Nick always does a much better job anyway. A much better watch in my opinion
Integrals are definitely more tedious to reassemble than a more conventionally constructed folder, but there are tricks to the trade that I suppose we should probably share to ease the reassembly process for anyone else maintaining their Sonora going forward. I'll bug Martin and see if we can't make a quick but informative video on disassembly, and reassembly in the relative near future. - GH (The guy on the QC card)
Thank you alot Nick. Was waiting for this kind of video to do it myself. It was painfully expensive to ship my Sonora to Phoenix and back to Austria for a spa. Mine wasn't working properly (enough).
When installing the washers I grab a recipt book and on the back of book I drag the washer on the edge and determine which edge is smother and put that side against the blade. That way if the washer stops sliding it will not bite into the blade, it may seam like a small thing but a bunch of small problems add up.
A small plastic C clamp for woodworking would possibly do the trick of holding down the button and effectively giving you a "third" hand. I found a few on amazon that looked like they could do the trick without scratching the knife in any way.
11:33 any balisong flipper that has a channel handle balisong and takes care of it knows how to do this rather quickly😂: One washer into the handle, Fixate it with the pivot bolt, The blade goes in, Push the pivot a bit further through the blade so that is fixated aswell, Put the second washer in, use a screw driver or similar to push the bushing back into the blade and to get the washer into the right position so the pivot can go all the way through. Anything else would take too long, too many tries or too much precision.
Bushings, channel integral build, and of course threadlock all come from their balisong dna. I would say it’s ‘on’ a bushing, not washers exactly.. I’m _very_ amused that _you_ have 0420, because I am a child😆 0700 is the jewel of my collection no contest
Its like 27 minutes of why Id never buy a button lock integral knife, or frankly any integral knife. I dont see literally any advantage to an integral design over a sandwich design, but it does greatly increase cost and complexity of reassembly. Someone would have to offer me another identical knife for free, to even consider taking this knife apart. And even then I'd probably decline.

Glad to see you back into the swing of things🎉
FINALLY someone made this video :) People say that integrals are easy to clean but I figured the washers would be annoying.

@@jkurtzz Yeah its the same issue with the Bugout; who wants to deal with getting those washers in place?
Love my Sonora and Been waiting for this. Super helpful as always. Thanks Nick
I just picked up 855. Thanks for the video!!
That's both the sexiest Sonora and the best serial Sonora!
Toothpicks and Q-tip shafts are my best friends while lining up washers especially with integrals.
I've used a gliderco balisong pivot tool. It was like 5 dollars and so useful!
Much respect Sir Nick. This, I think, is the first integral disassembly ive seen.

Knife asmr, with a tiny bit of stress. Thanks Nick

aka, Sebenza reassembly.

Nick you're the Dr. Katz Professional Therapist of gear.
Whoop! Another great vid. Keep chugging brother!
Painful man, I rarely disassemble my knives. Thanks Nick.
Man, what a looker of a blade
I'm sure it's well out of my budget, but glad to see it anyways
Yeah it's ~$700-800
Honestly if its this or 2 WEs, i feel like this is the smarter buy.

👍.
You ever going to check out the civivi neuro haptic? Or maybe the Valhalla pterosaur?
My mom was a neuro-haptic. Not fun.

Always appreciate your vids, but I need more. 😂 Have you seen anything that interests you lately?
Tighten to three nanometers. So that's what, three-billionth of a meter
Newton meters...
Should've just used Delicas...
Believe machinewise never uses thread locker and makes their own hardware. At least the case on their balisongs
I'd rather have sandwich construction for ease of reassembly. Cheers 👐
Yeah, not going to take mine apart 😂
Same! I would get so frustrated I would have to walk away and break something else 😊
