Robert has a real artsists way of explaining everything. Far superior to other lectures I have seen here. The ones where there are two people fighting to talk is silly. This guy is top! No doubt because of his background in music!
As a comparative, I am embryonic in my photographic life, while Robert has matured to the point of advancing his wonderful, hard-earned "tool-set" to the point of focus that evidently and consistently runs through every image he takes. At 66 years of age I appreciate my good fortune to have taken up photography at a time when my life-journey intersects with Robert's. I thoroughly enjoyed viewing this workshop! Most good lessons have a degree of difficulty as part of the price, and to be able to gain so much insight with so little effort is a blessing. Thank you for the generous sharing, Robert.
Robert Rodriguez Jr great lecture!! I love how you compare a great photograph to music, living and breathing, so to speak. This will really help me improve my compositions. My biggest problem is patience. As a bird photographer I am engaged and excited in the results I have captured over the years. For the landscape shooter, the instant gratification is not as pronounced as it is with wildlife. You can hike 4 miles to a location and the clouds are not cooperating etc and you don’t take a single image. I think the rewards are amazing, but my biggest struggle is the patience required to get a great landscape image. I’m working on this!! Thanks again!!
I have watched a lot of UA-cam videos on composition, but this is probably the most informative and practical one that I have seen concerning the challenges of landscape photography. Thanks to B&H and Robert Rodriguez Jr for an excellent lecture.
So happy to see another talk by Robert Rodriguez Jr. He is my favorite nature/landscape photographer. I love his zen-like approach to the art of photography.
What a fantastic talk! Love Robert's approach to photography, less technical mumbo jumbo and more artsy and harmonious elements that really brings his photography to life and helps us understand a lot more about the whole process of CREATING a photo, not taking a photo. Thank you Robert, you just earned another fan.
I have viewed several video lessons on composition. Robert's lecture presented the clearest most actionable methodology that I have viewed. Many Thanks. I know this will help improve my landscape photography.

Great lecture. I've been struggling to figure out what makes good landscape photographs for several years, watching lots of videos, spending a fair amount of money on books by name authors and you gave me more to think about in this video than any of the books or videos. While I don't expect that the next time I go out that I'll be taking Ansel Adam's quality photos I certainly have tools to significantly improve my photography.
Absolutely marvelous! This was both an inspiring and down to earth explanation of a complex topic. I look forward to learning your 2019 workshop schedule. Leslie
What a sensible down to earth practical lecture for the enthusiastic amateur especially . Simplicity the key - not requiring bewildering post processing and articulate presentation. Great.
an excellent presentation. super informative. wish the presenter could be pointing to whatever he points to in his images using a means that makes it visible to us remote viewers. kinds like he did just at the very end -time reference 1:13
You are so humble.....been watching you for a couple years......Just wonderful thank you so much......Thank you B&H for all these awesome video....Cheers Ramin :-)
I enjoyed this very much, especially the musical analogies. With respect to Lightroom/Photoshop mentioned towards the end and continuing with the musical theme, it doesn't seem unreasonable to think of the raw file as a musical score and the processed image as a performance; which like a musical performances can varied and highly individualistic; with no particular spot in performance space being 'correct' (including in-camera performances). Which also reveals how inane the 'only SOOC is correct' ideology is.
I’m not sure where that image was taken. You might try to contact Robert Rodriguez Jr directly through his site. *Christina* www.robertrodriguezjr.com/
Free lecture! Awesome thank you. I want to learn but i can't feel the art in me. I can't see the detail u described on those photos all i see is they r beautiful.
Great Lecture!! might want to consider showing examples of what not to do. In pictures, show what a busy picture is or how things are not arranged correctly etc etc ...
Nice presentation, it can be boring because of the subject matter but he did a good job, the photos range from amazing to average but again that's the way the cookie crumbles. Hope people learned something from this presentation!
Superb and thank you!!😀😀😀📷📷📷👍👍👍🔔🔔🔔 There is also another B&H Photo Video (also on composition) that would make an excellent companion to this video, it's by photographer Adam Marelli (spelling?) (title....???)
Hi Lewis, I believe you were referring to this one? Bridging the Gap: Classical Art Designed for Photographers ua-cam.com/video/zwk3YFknyNA/v-deo.html . Thanks for watching!

Thank you very much, Robert! It was nice as usual. You have got a nice sense of exlanation
For an ethereal topic, this has been the most useful video I've encountered so far. Great, useful presentation!

Awesome photographer, Thank You Robert and B&H.
When I was dabbling I music, I came across a quote I like:
Critiquing art is about applying the rules. Creating art is about breaking them.
Yep tons of useful useful teachings here Robert, Great job my friend

@B and H, Any idea of the general whereabouts the image @ 38:27 minutes was shot? Spectacular.

Looks like it might be Monument Valley
Excellent, comprehensive and highly educational! Thank you!
I learned so much! Thanks to B&H and Robert Rodriguez Jr.!
Great lesson! Thank you for the insights
33:38 Compositional toolbox: lines, points and shapes, color, patterns and textures
I find the analogy he makes to music really interesting.
Great seminar. A little long, but very worthwhile. I like hearing how good photographers walk through the creative process.
it's a seminar, what did you expect?
@@mr.radical9659 I certainly didn't expect a comment on my off-hand comment 6 years later.
@@ToddHakala Understandable, have a nice day.
