From a Cardiff fan I was really impressed by the Leinster lions match. Leinster are such a ruthless quality side and have this conveyer belt of talent and are so cohesive and organised. They suffocate opposition now with their defence but still play that beautiful system rugby. But I have to say I have been super impressed by the lions even in defeat. They were incredible last year against Glasgow and followed this year with edinburugh. They haven’t got loads of big names but it really think the game yesterday was a lot closer than the score line suggested. I would not be surprised if they meet at the very end of the competition!
A lot of credit for the outcome of the Sharks game must go to the referee, Hollie Davidson. Always in control, played advantage well and did not impose the whistle on the game. Very impressive i think.
I thought she was great for long stretches, and then she would make an absolute stinker of a call (like when Eben touched the shorts of a Munster player at the line out and was pinged, even though he didn't push or anything and didn't affect the lineout at all, but 2 minutes later he himself gets pushed off balance and falls heavily in a line out and it's play on...and a few head scratching scrums like when the Sharks obliterated the Munster scrum yet again, but she didn't play advantage, and the ball was turned over for Munster's second to last try)...BUT these things do happen to all refs, I do think she had a good game overall.
I was at Leinster v Lions yesterday, an excellent match, if a little scrappy at times. Good to see new players slotting in, and Caelan Doris led by example, so I'm looking forward to seeing the season unfold. Enjoy the sunshine, Tim!
I think the heavy rain in the second half is what really stopped the Leinster bonus point try. The sharks game looks more like a kids play center than a rugby game.
The "Shark Tank" has always been a family friendly rugby venue. In fact most of our grounds are that way. They cater for the young and the old and we like it that way.
Was at Leinster v lions , it was a great game and it was closer , you are 100% right Leinster much improved I was not a fan of the Blitz defence but they now seemed to be mastering it so against my better judgement starting to feel optimistic

On the Munster/Sharks game and I don't see too many teams having an enjoyable time scrumming down against Ox and the boys. The local broadcaster here selected Vincent Tshituka as MOTM and to be fair, he was good value for it for the double tackle out on the wing alone. Lions were unlucky with the early head injury, seemed to disrupt their system with Edwil VDM at FB, but they were gritty in the extreme. I do fear that it could be a Leinster domination job this year though especially if they keep RG fit for the whole season which would be miraculous in itself. Loving the content mate, and have a wee Mythos for me down in the Patriko 🍻
Munster is rudderless. i feel like a leinster fan. i feel that if they don't show up for the rest of the season, it will get ugly. Let's see how Munster goes against a new Zealand xv. I also wonder why not all SA sides try smaller stadiums.
Grant William's speed from the base of the scrum, ruck & maul makes such a difference for the attacking opportunities ....I think he was Man of the Match Tim?
Munster are in trouble. 176 points conceded when last season they had a top tier defensive record. I don't think it's insurmountable but we're 33% through the league and only 2 wins. Need to register some consecutive wins and sort out the defense.
Tim, On a different subject. How long has the 8 replacement rule been and why is it all of sudden a problem now just because a couple of teams have figured out the advantages of it.
The bonus for the SA teams is they have played one game less than the rest. Wonder when they will be able to play that extra game to get level with the rest of the teams?
Referee!! as a neutral it’s so hard to watch… it’s so inconsistent, and particularly in the dynamic between TMO and referee. The TMO should bring consistency, anything but…

As an ex prop i like that the scrum is important but its more like the refs interpretation is more important than what is actually happening. No prop would ever stoop so low as to become a ref (😂) they are all ex 9s and wingers without a clue. Not saying this was the case here.
I am still not convinced about the new style of rugby. Example is Sharks game. The ball is thrown around with gay abandon in the hope that someone is there to gather. Primary school rugby....
Not a stormers fan, but as a neutral that reffing was shocking. Really really bad. I hate to mention reffing but when it’s that bad, then refs need to have warning and match fee deductions. I can’t imagine how stormers fans felt after that refereeing.
I thought the Lions with their one or two recently blooded Springboks did extremely well against ... Ireland? One or two better "bounces" of the ball and they may well have pumped ... Ireland? Away from home in their final match (having won the other two) this certainly was a gutsy performance of the men in red. Expect to see them in the final. GO LIONS!!!!

was the atmosphere dead ? I turned off in the first half because of how it was on TV switched over to UFC instead
Blade, Murphy and Devine. Connacht have great strength at scrum-half. Granted none as good as JGP but better strength in depth than Leinster.

Two wins from seven in the '22-'23 season and as we know they recovered. They are absolutely mangled with injuries at the moment.

Munster is now in a crisis situation. Unless the IRFU allows them to bring in two front rows we'll be lucky not to finish last this year.

The Lions defence was very good, however Leinster made too many errors in attack at critical moments.
