Interesting things to note. 1: Sam Green in 2024 is the same Sam Green from the opening of the game but NOT the same as the one in 1980's. If Sam fails to save the baby (who it turns out is Jaime) from Frank at the beginning, the newspaper in Augustine's archive will state that baby Jaime was killed (despite that obviously not happening in the 1980 timeline as Jaime is alive) and the Sam that appears will be confused when Linda mentions Jaime's name, realizing the world he is in now is a world where he lived. 2: There's been speculation that Chris is possibly a young/AU version of Dr. Augustine. There are some physical similarities, not to mention it could possibly explain why only Chris was sucked into the future by the magic portal, as multiple Augustine at different ages are frequently appearing through said portal, and is seemingly the only one who can travel back through the screen? I don't think there is anything concrete to this but it is a interesting theory.
I actually flew on an empty dark plane once, from one major airport to another, too. There were maybe 12 others on the plane. Everyone was laid out on their isles because no one was sitting next to eachother and it was 11pm. So we all got about 2 seats (it was a smaller plane) worth of space to lay down. They turned the lights off for us. I wish I could say I enjoyed it but I had a nasty fever and altitude does not help when your ears are clogged 😢
What Stan said about them using Murder Mill as an indoctrination tool at LERY'S MEMORIAL INSTITUTE... it is a nod to the lore surrounding Dr Herman Carter, aka The Doctor. There is also a Rellik/"Killer Cutie Doll" you can find of this killer in game; I think he is terrible, to look at, to face in battle, just in general, but I know every killer has their fans just like every stellar survivor has their haters. Thank you for pointing out the House of Ashes connection with Gilgamesh on the shelf. I thought I was the only one that caught it. I read The Epic of Gilgamesh for fun just before starting my junior year of college, after hearing an abridged version of it when studying global history in high school.
Thats a great catch with Herman Carter and the Memorial Institute! My knowledge of the Epic of Gilgamesh is pretty lacking but was very interesting what I did learn while making the video :) Thanks for watching
Augustine makes direct comparison in her annotations on the text for Frank Stone to emulate the behavior of the wild man, Enkidu. By this token, this makes his “concerned parole psychiatrist” the manipulative, conniving, and devastating Ishtar, who is responsible for Enkidu dying from illness in the canon text. Gerant Manor could be considered an “other world/under world repository”, meaning Sam, Madi and older Linda could each be cast as a Gilgamesh figure. They seek answers rather than their “Enkidu” figure, but the parallel can still be drawn.
Woah woah, under 10k views? Such a well made video made me think I’ve been watching a channel with millions of subs for an hour before I realized. Good job man!
I think it's pretty cool how the game guides us into thinking that there are only 3 timelines by using the menu screen. So while we might have picked up a couple of inconsistency (like how Linda remembers the film as a somewhat embarrassing first project instead of "that time her friends got k'd), we wouldn't immediately jump to the multi-timeline/dimension theory so it's a bigger shock when Sam appears.
Found this because I was baffled about what all the things that were obviously supposed to be Easter Eggs meant and why the ending happened as it did...I haven't played Dead By Daylight and had no idea this was related to that game lol. This breakdown was SO well done and very helpful, thank you very much!
When I saw the “Time Machine,” I got hit by nostalgia ‘cause it looks very similar to the soul-capture machine or whatever it’s called from Thirteen Ghosts (2001). I was obsessed with the lore of each ghost despite the film being mediocre overall. It could honestly be gamified a la Dead by Daylight as well, now that I’m thinking about it. 😅 Thank you for the upload! ❤
That statue reminds me of the statue from The Exorcist. Maybe a possible nod to the film as well? My mom mentioned that at the showings there were ambulances on standby in case people had any health issues watching the movie.🤣
I heard the same stories with ambulances outside of the film haha, It very much could be a nod, they give a lot of love to old horror films in the story. I didn't include this in the video but I think one of the chapters "A Cusiosity on Main Street" is a nod to "A Nightmare on Elms Street". Which would make sense since Freddy Krueger is in the DBD universe.
46:18 Jaime CAN help Chris (even though he is unable to ultimately save her) only if he went the drug store FIRST instead of the curio shop as doing that, has him purchase some fire crackers. If he doesn't have the fire crackers then Frank's ghost will murder him unless he runs away.
I don't think they're claiming you can't, at the beginning of the video he says he's explaining the playthiugh that leads to what he thinks is the canon ending. In that playthrough you can't try to save Chris if you do you die.
@@CrueLxMelodYit would still lead to the same ending 😁. As long as Jamie doesn’t die in that exchange, they can all survive. Confront only with firecrackers… otherwise flee. All the same result with the only changes being relationship/dialogue changes
✋IIMPERATTI!✋I haven't played the game but I have watched the gameplay. It's frustrating because people seem to play it just to post it and then are done with it. They never look back into anything. Then I'm left sitting there like how can you do that, are you not curious!? I mean I'm not even playing it and I have so many questions, how don't they!? So thank you for making this and taking the time to dive into it for those of us who can't. I appreciate it.
I find it quite disturbing how the survivors so quickly know and except what’s about to come, in every single outcome there’s someone at the campfire, when their asked why they’re not moving, all they say is “we were waiting for you, now we can finally begin”
13:52 its stated that they are going to london, its unlikely the homeowner would have a gun, nevermind be willling to shoot someone and risk the proceeding murder charges.
The story of The Casting of Frank Stone has MANY nods and references to Dead By Daylight. One of my favorite ones is when Madi is controlled by the curse, the words that are uttered are the same exact words the Plague utters when she gains her Corrupted Purge ability.
Great explaining bro. Really like your telling from the story :) Imperatti haha. The only question I have is what was the motive of Augustine. She just dies after the awakening of Frank Stone
Well, i watched 3 of videos explaination videos and all of them are not explaining anything. So i'am stopping on a point where events of this game are just random, they are just unalignable with logic. Random time-space travel bullshit. Supermassive never fails to dissapoint me more since House of Ashes(which is second and last worthful game of the studio)
This game is a failure The quality is poor at best and behavior is lazy Supermassive had the tech but I have a feeling behavior didn’t help with this project besides the ass of a story Just feels like 1/2 of a game

That would make sense. The first Sam was a city police officer, the second Sam was the Sheriff
AND WHEN THE WORLD NEEDED GREEN LINKS MOST THEY RETURNED
The machine in the mansion just gave me 13 ghost vibes.
I really love to see a full DBD lore and also IMPERATTI

Thank you for the through breakdown! I was waiting for a video like this :D
Glad you are back, amigo, got worried there for a few months.
1:14:05 I couldn't stop laughing when you said that Linda looked like she went twelve rounds with Mike Tyson in the ring. It's so funny 😂😂😂

oh this is excellent i’ve been WAITING for a video on this game that’s over an hour long lol

Surprised more people havent made this connection, first thing I thought of too!
