I'm sure he wasn't trying to sound racist, but he does have great info. It all boils down to the undertones in skin and what complements those tones. Refer to the color wheel and read up on different skin tones and the information Mr. Barth is giving won't sound as bad as the people who are making it such are.
Nikki Jenkins wtf u mean he sounds racist?? you've gotten twisted and brainwashed if u think so. BLM calls us white ppl -subhuman- ->& u're tryin to tell us he sound racist -.- go on, look for a job or do smthn useful instead beiing that stupid.
Donal Romano Thank you for asking that question. He didn't read the comment at all. The only word he saw was "racist" and decided he was going to run with that. He made himself look like a true ass, and that's punishment enough, I don't need to add to that.
He's trying to be as accurate as he can. His descriptives were about that which is helpful, especially given that English is not his first language. Skintone is important.
I can say that the advice of using brown translucent paper over the tattoo to see how the color will end up is GREAT advice. I can tell he knows his stuff. Great artists with a pool of knowledge are always appreciated.
Very, very nice video on tattooing on darker skin tones. You hit on a lot of good points about tattooing on black or darker skinned people. Thanks Mario keep em coming.
Also wanted to add, I have three tattoos, two are color tatts. Light blues, turquoise, pink, green and red really pop on darker skin but hands down to turquoise though. That's an amazing color!
+Lizzie Beth I have a dream catcher with turquoise, raspberry pink, purples and blues, even peachy orange and all of the colors are GREAT. I am pleasantly surprised how lovely the colors came out. I am a tad lighter than peanut butter and I was concerned that the colors would not be vibrant...oh yes they are! Your tatts sound very colorful and lovely too!
+Janelle X Sounds like your tattoo is awesome! There is an artist here in Atlanta that owns a place called City of Ink which specializes in darker skin, you should see their work. It rocks.
This is awesome! I've always wanted a tat but I've been reluctant because of my skin tone. Glad this artist is sharing his knowledge especially about the keloids and scarring.
What I really want to see is a video with someone with Dark skin getting a color tattoo. All the videos I run across are not REALLY using someone with DARK SKIN. When I search dark I am not looking for caramel and mocha. I am looking for milk chocolate. Dark chocolate. Let me see some colors on this tone. Most people should know that this skin tone and others lighter and not too far from it should be able to get color in their tats.
theres nothing racist about what hes saying hes not being sneaky or anything with it. if you have dark skin you have to accept the fact that not every color is going to show up the skin. and most artist have a great passion for what they do and appreciate the diffrences in their customers.
pvtrichardsonbr using words like “burnt” and “charcoal” is very problematic. Of course it’s not racist to explain that colors just won’t pick up on darker skin but the amount of cringe in the first couple of minutes in this video when he’s describing his skin tone is very hard to argue with. Period...
@@robinlofton655 Im also an artist who works in many mediums. An artist that understands that to effectively teach coloring, blending and shading of darker peoples and characters. You must use descriptive language ie charcoal, mocha, beige etc. There is absolutely no malice in the language he is using.
Thanks Mario! You are the only one that have some information on tattooing dark and darker skin. I was looking for some ideas for what type of tattoo to get for darker. Because I have noticed that some of the coloring in some tattoos don't blend well. So thanks again.
Hi, I'm very glad you made this video because I've been considering getting a tattoo for a long time - but I was always concerned about how it would show up on my skin since I'm darker. I was just wondering if this information is common knowledge amongst more repututable tattoo places or is this something that I should acknowledge to the artist prior to getting a tattoo done
😮Wow!!.. I really feel the same way about this I'm like a mix dark/Caramell person so I think A color will go on us GREEN BLUE BLACK RED maybe Yellow . White/Orange/purple/ e.t.c may have our Skin turn into a brown mud Color now that's pretty ugly if you ask me. 😄
thanks for the video. as a dark skinned person. about the same shade as the guy in the picture but with yellow undertones and am looking to get my first tattoo done but every time I walk into a shop automatically they ask if I want black and grey and try to steer me away from color.
Mario Barth created and gave so much to tattooing . When he started making tattoo ink there was only 21 colors and he made 120+ then went on to start an international ink brand Inktenze . Burnt and Charcoal are both terms to describe a shade tone and hue of brown . Like Charcoal pencils and Burnt as in Burnt umbers and Burnt ochre in oil paint .
Great info, A+, thank you. I want a colour tattoo and being dark skinned I wanted good guide lines to take to my artist so I get the best colour tattoo.
i believe mario works out of vegas. vegas would be located in the desert. deserts are hot as fuck. people get desert burnt. skin pigment get singed by the high UV concerntration, lack of shade and cooling and direct exposure. see how that wasnt a nasty comment ?
Exactly what I was thinking. Black people do have sensitive skin you can't drill into it or it will take on a bumpy almost scarred surface. I also think its best for darker skinned people to get tattoos that are bigger in size with lines that are spaced out enough as to not cause a blurred tattoo down the line. I also agree with the whole less is more when it comes to tattooing on darker skin tones.
Referring to very dark skin as charcoal and burnt is disrespectful, no matter how you spin it. He might not have meant it that way, but it still was a horrible way to describe very dark skin. There are other ways to respectfully describe those tones. Saying deep, dark brown or even referencing something edible like coffee or dark chocolate sounds a helluva lot better than charcoal or burnt.
thanks I'm coloring in all my body I'm brown skinned I was surprised when I got my back colored in blue in purple I didn't think it would stay it looks amazing 1 year later so I'm going to go ahead and color everything else
@1missmonet I actually did end up finding quite a few that do colors on darker tones. I have 4 tats so I know how they work and I know that skin layers on top of the ink. The point I was making is that no one is advertising darker skin colors. Just light skin. And from what I found after doing my research and talking to quite a few different artists you can get a really beautiful tat with color on dark skin if the artist themselves have the right ink and and technique.
love this is some good info. and even though this guys arm is not as black as some people would like it to be. I've tattooed aon a lot of black people and it is just like you said. little is better than to much. thanx for the info and keep up the good work. there a lot of haters out there. don't pay not mind to them... i got a lot out of this in reminding me on want to do and what not to do...
A very Good Question. Hey I think its based on the type of Ink the Artist used. If you in the NYC area try Black Ink😄👍. My first getting a tattoo I'm still debating on it wish me luck LOL
You guys, when he said "DESERT BURNT" he means the top layer of the skin.. NOT the color of the person! My friend is a tattoo artist in the desert. He says he hates tattooing burnt skin, and he almost ONLY tattoos white people since there arent many black people where he lives. He says half of his clients have horribly burnt skin, they are all white!
Since getting my First Tattoo I'm a dark Toned little Light like Caramell person. I think these are the Color that I need to used on getting my tattoo. White /Orange/ maybe yellow may not go wit me Thanks man😄👍
hahaha he said charcoal haha that's gangsta. and no im not offended. im more honey brown anyway and besides some people are pepsi black( though don't know why they honestly bother with tats its just to hard to see and appreciate the art). Besides he's educating more artist on how to tat us up.
He's probably not racist, but he is pretty ignorant. The way he was describing the guy's complexion makes it pretty obvious he doesn't know much about dark-skinned people.
