I read that the location they filmed in was prone to flooding and it was costing them an arm and leg to fix the sets every few weeks. It was supposed to be a major factor.
Unfortunately the show's budget equated to roughly $200 000 for every minute. Most of that budget went into filming in Australia, the elaborate sets, and the expensive CGI. Sadly, in the end, Fox could no longer justify such a large budget and was therefore forced to cancel the show😢
Truth was Fox already knew all that. After all they signed off on the costs. At the time it was an experiment to see if they could bring theater quality special effects to the small screen. Mix results on that. Barring insanely high viewer numbers. It was doomed to be only one season out the gate. This was also during the rise of Reality TV. So why spend millions to make a few million. When you could spend thousands and make millions. It was a rough time to be a Sci Fi fan.
I doubt that, Terra Nova is a mix of ripoffs, the main idea is based on Dinotopia. And with a production cost of 200k $ per minute this show was destined to fail.
I was just mentioning this in another feed … about colony . It was also cancelled . I am happy that people feel the same way I feel about these shows . I wanted this .. and there you go
Really appreciate your synopsis. It's pleasing to listen to. You have made me enjoy shows/movie that I never intended to watch or heard of. All I can say I guess is thank you ❤
I think it was 2013 or 2014, when this series only 1 timed appeared in Netflix and then they took it down about 1 month, I don't know why, but I actually miss it to watch it again.

I understand it was a good series, but I'm not sure why going back in time to the Cretaceous period was a good idea. Basically Jurassic Park, but worse.
Well that’s actually due to a couple pretty simple reasons my dude; Because……plot and it’s just a whole lot of awesomeness to be had! So basically… Because…reasons 😉👍😅 But in all seriousness I can only guess that time period is probably cause it’s more like today than say the Carboniferous, Permian, Triassic or Jurassic. But in broad terms the latter half of the Cretaceous isn’t far off from today really, both in terms of flora and temperature at least Tho it only makes sense if for some reason, I’m sure is likely a ridiculous one they can’t go a few million years ag that I can foresee But if I had to think of an excuse I’d say that maybe it’s so they don’t come in contact with our ancestors or other animals ancestors out of the fear of somehow changing something that is more likely to have an affect on the future? where as say…the major extinction about 66 ish million years ago at the end of the Cretaceous is gonna be wiping out a lot of species anyway so it’s slightly less likely that they would have as much of an effect on the future? Or if we shy away from that principle is thrown out maybe it’s just that they already have colonies in the more recent time periods and they started with most recent and work their way backwards and this time period is next in line? But idk if it’s made clear in the show that this is actually the first time that they’ve tried? If so please enlighten me my dudes? I’m grasping at straws here guys 🤷♀️👍😅
At least in Jurassic Park the dinosaurs are animals who want to eat people rather than cartoon monsters who just want to kill people and leave their intact bodies behind for people to find.
they had an episode where they discuss a probe they sent back initially with the idea they send it into the past and then find it sometime in there history or track it but because it was never found they determined it was an alternate earth/dimension with an older timeframe
Man... We could sit here for days talking about all the SciFi shows they killed or intentionally set up for fail, for them to not end up failing on Faux. My first taste of it was _Space Above and Beyond_ when I was a kid.
The story was set***100,000,000*** million years ago ;) it also begs the question about possible issues with the human colonists messing with the timeline. Do they ultimately go extinct or get ultra advanced, erase all their traces, and leave past Earth? Or is the "time gate" really just sending them to a *alternate* past Earth?
Budget costs and viewership numbers. Also, it was on the wrong network I guess. Faux is notorious for greenlighting amazing CGI SciFi series, only to set them up for fail and cancel after a season.
This is a TV movie, isn’t it? Which means it’s also a fancy new romance nonsense drama thriller groovy. With just enough science to make it fly high. Groovy in this case, familiar.
What was the name of the original series??? Hard to enjoy with just the narration and quick fillers of the film. Would love to watch the series somewhere. Hope someone can clue me in. I'm sure many others would appreciate this information as well. Thanks in advance!
technically it doesnt, most any media can be found somewhere for free. but where do you draw the line? last month, yesterday, 2 years? does that also mean we shouldnt pay for music that is more than 10 years old? do the creators and actors not deserve to be paid for their efforts?
@@naptime43x Dude I pay over 200 dollars a month in apps Apple TV max showtime Netflix prime Disney amc + and more so I’m paying my fair share they get paid well when they make the movie so I’m not sorry for the fact they make 40 million dollars for one movie and yet pay for all these apps and they still want an extra 25 dollars that’s where I draw the line
headline says 100,00 years then description says 85m years. Never heard of this, but why did they go back when dinosaurs were about why not 50m years ago instead.
I will never understand why this one was cancelled so fast.
What's the show? Star Wars deep space 9?
I read that the location they filmed in was prone to flooding and it was costing them an arm and leg to fix the sets every few weeks. It was supposed to be a major factor.
Good show
CGI costs were also very high
Everything woke turns to crap

Woohoo! Australia is the best!
I wish they made a second season. The First one was pretty ok but had some great potential.
this show deserved to keep going, it could have gone far! Hopefully osmeone picks it up in a few years
Show was cancelled over a decade ago... Not sure if Disney or Faux owns the rights to it at this point but neither one would spend money on a reboot.
I doubt that, Terra Nova is a mix of ripoffs, the main idea is based on Dinotopia. And with a production cost of 200k $ per minute this show was destined to fail.

Sometimes people do things that don't make sense - Cancelling this show is one of those ‘done’ things...

Thank you! This means a lot!
I remember this show. Me and my wife loved it but they cancelled it
I liked this way more than La Brea, been years since I watched Terra Nova.
sadly there is no second season of it,, this is one of the best series aside from some graphics issues.

becuse the astroid would wipe all trace of them. so anyting thay did wouldent matter in the long run.
Probably because humans would not survive long enough to mess up the future.
They can't go to a time with humans around or they will change history
The guy who plays Taylor, has always been fantastic as the brutal military leader
This was a great show.
I love the show to bad it got cancelled hope for new one in future because I want to watch it but complete :)
This show was actually pretty good i wish they hadnt canceled it
this show was ahead of its time.
i actualy liked this series shame they didnt make another season
Thank you, was looking for this for a while, finally "found" it again 😂
I this movie has that actor in it who shares the same first and last name as Me in it.🙂
I liked that show a lot, had potential for sure.
I wish they bring back this tv show
2:58 "carnorourus"bro💀
I wonder how this series reconciled how sending all these people and tech back to the past didn’t drastically affect the future.

@@adamnazario6337 thanks
This should been a movie instead of a series
it was a very good movie, it's just a pity that there are no new series
Another great Sci Fi cut short early on Fox. They were good for that on Fox.

Just came here to ask why your thumbnail has a pleisiosaurus head on a brontosaurus tail...
How many episodes was this ? And I think this will season 1 if I'm not mistaken it's been awhile since I've seen this ...
I miss both Revolution and Terra Nova
It shouldnt have been cancled
do you know most of the filming was done in the rainforest in Queensland Australia outside of Cairns
The guy who stared in the show is the kiss of death every series he is in gets cancelled 😂
Honestly same one of my fav shows I think it wasn’t marketed enough or too soon I love the show though
It was marketed heavily but with the budget that it was given, it wouldve needed some ungodly viewership numbers to justify its existence 😕
I get the sane way when I hear the word Sixers. Iverson I'm looking at you...
Please somebody get Jeff Bezos to resurrect the show
Terra nova, it was a good series
I wish in reality it should happen, with high technology going back to that year on earth

The series is called Terra Nova. It only has one season. It was made in 2011.
