I listened to Tyler's album 2 times yesterday and 1 time today, it has grown on me. It's my first time hearing a Tyler project. At one point it reminded me of "The Boy Who Knew Too Much" album by Mika, don't ask me why though lol.
No where near the biggest Tyler fan. He be saying and showing some wild stuff at times. I may listen to his classics here and there. This project is creative and the beat transitions are insane. Tyler is creating a catalog where u can argue what is his top 4!
My first time listening to a Tyler album and I am impressed! Kanye vibes with production will having a message with every song. I love albums that sound like a movie and not just a bunch of singles. West Coast is doing their thing!
@Jarv, you started this podcast strong. I decided to listen this morning since I missed the live-I couldn’t get to my phone volume quick enough!!!! LOL….’get the entire fu@k outta here!!!’
For people who say Punch wasn’t talking about them boy are y’all sensitive. Hip Hop media as a whole is trash, but Punch was specifically talking about the JOURNALISTS, whether they still write or not. You don't stop being a journalist because you move to commentating. There are rules and ethics journalists abide by but some have abandoned those in attempts to compete with Akademiks. It’s a problem when journalists throw fact checking out the window just to get clicks. Punch should call that out publicly, fck ya feelings.
Pretty much. I remember when u would never hear a journalist being a groupie. U wouldnt know who their fav artist was or who they are rooting for in a battle. Plus the journalist would focus on the music. Not the gossip shit.
I hate when people trying to blame the Internet for a grown ass man making a bad decision, he did that to himself hold that man accountable like grown man and stop blaming the Internet
Great episode y'all. Tyler album was a no for me . I get the whole experimental pushing boundaries thing but if it don't sound good then it don't sound good. But I also didn't like the school boy q album so I gotta agree with cin on this . To each there own tho I know this is great for ppl who love that crazy production thing. Great convo on the hip-hop media . Absolutely agree. They never talk about the music . It's always the other bullshit . Which is why I be annoyed sometimes. I jus wanna hear about the music . I don't care that you don't like an artist and he/she said this on the record so it can't fly. Let's talk about the music . Did you like it , did you not and why.
A good economy will fix hiphop; too many folks with too few options. Hiphop is seen as the quick lick cash grab even more so than it was in the past; especially with how “easy” it is to make music and put it on the socials. Look at the amount of folks putting out GARBAGE on the regular. Might as well give it a try, right? 🤔 Youngins today, even when they do all the “right” things, are disillusioned with their prospects. Weird take, perhaps, but it’s layers to the axiom, “Follow the money…”
It’s in Central America for one, and 2 Deeni said Caribbean because the vast lineage of Jamaicans, Trinidadians, Bajan’s etc that cultivate their culture. Not to mention in New York Panamanians because of their lineage are universally accepted as Caribbean. Culturally, they’re Caribbean.
Lmao the paid Duckworth posters and bots gettin to yall? Yall should consider that when you look back at the Aubrey battle. But as long as Cin cashing that TDE check 🤣 Word on maintaining your health. That's mad important, 💩 can be going wrong and you feel great. Go to your doctors Tried to tell Game fans that Game don't really want beef with Durk. He mighta become a pack tryin to defend Tyga.
If I summarized the album from first listen it feels like Tyler is coming to grips with the fact that he's maturing or you can say even getting older but he's on this album rebelling to the notion lol He can feel that he's starting to understand a lot of stuff he did t in the past where he had these different phases and characters, but he's realizing he's not a that point in his life anymore and THATS making him feel uncomfortable and he wanted to put that on display on the album. His current self is clashing or battling with his older self. You can see it in two ways. You can see it as . His old life was dark and bleak but he has now found color and clarity. . His current life feels like he's getting old and boring and he's looking back in retrospect like “ man I use to be cool and nah f that I'm STILL that guy”. He's trying to find the balance of how he can keep that same fire going when things made less sense, but he was still fighting through it and making magic out of nothing vs now he has more options more clarity and more reasons to chill but he doesn't feel like chilling. When I hear like “thought I was dead “ it feels like a track where he's acknowledging he's now a vet and that he's being seen as a “get off my lawner” but he's doubling down on it with a duality of what appears to be childish energy to say “ Yea I'm turning into a oldhead but Imma leader with high credible taste so f what y'all talking about” Or when I hear the track sticky with Wayne and Sexxy and glorilla I'm hearing like him kicking and screaming saying “ Nah idc about that getting older settle down stuff Imma do wtf I wanna do” but its not just like endorsing the idea its more like he's getting you to choose how you see how you see the behavior by grabbing two or even 3 artist who are seen as those who do what they want and have a carefree attitude. Its intentional. This all ties back into like the things he's contemplating like what having a kid would do to his mindset and career and how that connects back to his own dynamic with his dad. He looks like him, but is he actually him and would be become him if he has a kid. The mask can be seen like his father being behind the mask or him wearing his fathers face. A lot of introspection on this project and it feels like a middle ground before he settles in or makes like a final metamorphosis. Just my take.
Tyler's album is for sure Mr Morale coded in terms off talking about personnal troma
RIP DJ Clark Kent. #CrownHeights
29:43 Agreed Cin, that’s how I felt it too💯 If def has it’s influence of Kanye & Kendrick on it’s sleeve.

59:22 you are getting Lil baby & Lil Durk confused. Ppl were saying Lil Baby was on a Lil Wayne type of run not lil durk.
