    Thanks for the change of mind and the better understanding of the Event. However, there is a completely different trend, such as open source in software development. The musicians in the FB groups bring in their ideas, wishes and extensions and Ketron takes them up and tries to realize them within a short time in an update. I have never seen this happen in this way with any other manufacturer. A big plus.

      It would be nice if Ketron had a bug report option on their website to allow owners to report a bug or suggest an upgrade or improvement.

    Hi Leigh, great video. Those strings are far better than the current harsh Genos strings. The solo Violin would be fantastic for the Schindler’s list theme. Ketron seem to have captured the bow up & down action spot on. Will look forward to more videos. Cheers!

    Fantastic video and it’s where the Event shines the most, using the style modelling feature it’s unreal. And you know, the rewards are even better when you take a basic old style, maybe even ones converted from other keyboards and add these elements in, you make it sound like a factory style and it’s so easy. I’m so lucky that I own all 3 of the top arrangers and it’s so hard to tear yourself from any of the 3, even the Pa5x after the last update has transform that keyboard also.

    • @moogy77

      Hello, it's great that you own all three. I'm in the middle of trying to figure out one to buy. I had a PA5X then I sent it back, but I was thinking of reordering it, and then the Genos2 came out and I love the lights on the knobs and sliders. Now I see this Event Ketron and it's really intriguing me. I like the simplicity of auditioning different elements quickly. The Korg was very hard for me to get.
      So the question is witch one of the three is the best/easiest to get up and running?
      I heard there were some bugs in the Event.
      Thanks.

    Many thank Leigh, you are totally professional in your reviews, without being biased to any big names like Yamaha Genos 2 or Korg Pa-5X. My question is Ketron going to provide an Oriental version of this Keyboard with Arabic Scale, please advise.

    I don't think you can do live tweaking of styles like that on a Yamaha or Korg... just that feature is so cool. You can make customized styles pretty quickly. Very nice. I want one now!!! Grrrrr...

    • @robfriedrich2822
      @robfriedrich2822 8 місяців тому +1

      You can tweak, but not store it in a registration.
      For me some styles has an overplaying guitar in variation 1, so I replaced the guitar by a decent one.

    • @robfriedrich2822
      @robfriedrich2822 7 місяців тому +1

      Some tweaking is easier done in Ketron, but some bigger changes are easier in Yamaha and Korg.
      The good thing, I have SD90 and Yamaha Tyros 3 and a Yamaha compatible Drumkit on my SD90 and so I'm very flexible.
      Meanwhile I installed volume 1 to 3 from the Audya Styles for SD9.

    Nice video! We can easily hear and see this Ketron Event is a beast! It's a very powerfull arranger i d' like to own myself - But, as a Yamaha Tyros 4 Keeper, I realy like the 8 registrations' system in it. Does the event get this kind of features? You play so well!!! Congrats and thanks from France. Mysterio.

    First ten minutes of the video really takes me back to the late 70s and the Disco Droid days.' Really liked the version of Strangers in Paradise and Begin the Beguine.
    I may edit this after I finish the whole video. 😃
    There's a 200 page manual, which is actually pretty 'light' considering the Korg manual's Table of Contents is 40 pages long in and of itself,and the manual is over 1,600 pages!. However, the Genos manual is only 137 pages. So, I dunno. I guess some serious reading is in order for the Ketron. Spend a week with it reading the manual before you try actually using it, I guess.
    I mean, I remember when Ketron introduced the SD-2 sound module. I didn't have one, but a friend did, and he was totally blown away by the sounds of it, across the board. They they came out with the Audya, which was supposed to be better than anything Yamaha or Korg had out at the time. I don't know. I was waiting for you to get back to that original style you created and to see how it was done. I really would like to see if you could put together a style for say 'Peter Gunn' or 'The Pink Panther' and show those.

    Thank You Leigh, you showed why it is true: Ketron Event is a keeper! It is definitly the most powerful Keyboard for professional Users. Sorry Yamaha - you are still for Home Users and not for Professionals, but I am sure Yamaha is still selling much more Keyboards. It is the same like Volkswagen and Alfa Romeo 😂 The Question is which Car is KORG? Maybe Audi?

    Shame if there's no "Free Play" but... perhaps if the style is turned off, and just use the left hand (held) with lush strings or orchestra (maybe there's also a bass sound linked to the left hand), then add the orchestra soloist voice/s as normal to the right hand?? On a different note, I wonder how authentic the Event's electric guitars sound. Not asking for much but a tear-shedding Gilmour setting, or a great Santana or Knopfler "fingered" effect? Otherwise, looking forward to the 15th!!

    The ability to create your own Real Styles is a great feature and can envision when combining Band in a Box real styles as a source for creating these, this would be a killer combo - BIAB Real Styles, but live! Providing a module such as the Event-X is also a great option to have too. However, the lack of an onboard Multi-channel Audio device is dissapointing (as is the case with my current Genos), as would allow for a great music production tool when combined with a DAW.

    • @LeighWilbraham

      I do Leigh@@LeighWilbraham. In addition to using a DAW (Cubase) for music production e.g. using Cubase Chord Track / Pad feature is great for creating an arrangement to trigger chords / styles live on an arranger, I also like to perform live and have it captured via my DAW.

    It's so confusing!! I want either Korg Yamaha or Event, what to do?
    The biggest question is, what's the easiest one to get up and running?
    I had a PA4X and a PA5X I loved the sounds of the Korg, but it was hard to understand. I tried to just get a simple mp3 to a pad,, and it ended up being a NIGHTMARE! So I sent it back. Now I was about to reorder the Korg again since they did a big update, and just when I was about to order it, out cam out the Genos 2. I said wow lights on the sliders and knobs as well. Now about to order the Genos 2 ,and now I see this Event and I'm all confused.
    Can anyone help me withs this??? PLEASE
    Thank you.

    Great review. I have a question, you never reviewed a Roland arranger. I got the Roland EA7 and it is Roland last arranger which is very underrated in the European market. In Asia its s runner. Its quit a long time on the market but its still a perfect alternative option for the Yamaha and Korgs. It has all the same features and maybe it gets underrated because of the 2 monochrome screens. I can tell you they working fantastic together. 150 knobs to get directly to a function so you do t have to deep dive into the menu. But i would say please try this arranger and like your reviews very much. They are well detailed and gives a good idea how arrangers of several brands working. Please take some time to see how Roland is still having a great arranger for a good price. I like to see that. I know everything from the EA7 but not been able to make such great reviews like you did. Well done.

    • @LeighWilbraham

      I only review current models and not old ones. The Roland sounds harsh and dated compared to today’s modern arrangers.

    • @seriousdoubts3697
      @seriousdoubts3697 8 місяців тому +2

      @@LeighWilbraham I don’t think your comment is fair. The EA-7 is a current model from Roland. I have both Genos and EA-7 (and have played or owned almost every arranger released over 40 years) and can tell you that it is a very powerful unit with fantastic sounds, styles and excellent real-time controls. It’s very affordable compared to high end competitors and if the user has a limited budget I would highly recommend it. The built in speakers don’t do it justice (really for practice only)and it should be played through a decent PA or good headphones.

      @@LeighWilbraham the Roland EA7 is still the top of arangers by Roland and the sounds are great. Its for example most used by the asian market and because for that solo-instruments it is higly recommended to have great sound engine to give natural sound. The sound of all other instruments by Eupopean and american market are also great. The possibilty to create new sounds and to tweak excisting sounds by using the 6000 wavesforms build in it is a very nice feature. Therefore its called expandable arranger..The drumssets like the famous 808 707 303 are the most used drumkits in the 80s and 90s in that particular drummachines. All now in the EA7 and very neutral an dwelle arranged styles and flexible and not like the KORG where 90% of all Styles are based on famous songs. Supernatural sounds coming from the famous Integra 7. So i thnkmits not fair to underrate this arranger keyboaord. Its in several toplists and reviews till today if you looking for highend arrangers. The funtionality i tried is complete the same as the Genos or the KORG. I played several Brands for over 30 years now and the EA 7 is an evolution of the Roland G70 or E80. By this arranger it means if you not knowing it you never appreciate it. So give it try and you will see you still have an arranger that is not worth yet to upgrade because its competing still today with the high class.
