As a D2 regular, we saw this coming. They’ve been fuggin up the game left and right, and putting the WRONG people in leadership roles. They had too much on their plate, none of it was turning a profit, so now they gotta cut. AGAIN.
Lightfall was the beginning of the end for me, but more so because they set it in a futuristic, far-left idealized San Francisco with a non-binary guide NPC and lore entries about side characters that purposely cover every single other part of the rainbow. Strand was and still is a total joy to use, but the poor story was my second major concern after the blatant wokeness.
I played Destiny from its release to 2022. Couldn’t do it anymore. When the content is there, it is a great game. Unfortunately, they were just trying to milk the players for money for limited and repetitive content.
It’s not hard to see why this happened, virtue signaling aside just take a look at Destiny 2. They went from a phenomenal high bar that was the Witch Queen expansion and that high carried over to Lightfall which was a disaster with a terrible story and no characters to be attached to and you don’t even KNOW what you’re even after (The Veil) until SIX MONTHS after the expansion (which was supposed to be our Infinity War btw) dropped! (Not to mention some of the developers at the time spurred on a disillusioned fanbase, many of them didn’t come back for the Final Shape after that.) (To put it in MCU terms, imagine going from watching Winter Soldier or Civil War to Captain Marvel following up immediately afterwards.)
Forsaken, Witchqueen and The Final Shape were good expansions. But other than that this is what they get for insulting much of the player base with that woke garbage, their immeasurable amount of greed, and telling coal miners "learn to code".
Well, I enjoyed playing D2 for yrs, but I refuse to be financially ab(used by Bungo ever again. I didn't care about their lame activism injected into D2, but their weird financial decisions made me quit. I've never seen a Western MMO with such unpredictable and unclear monetization policy. Funny, but when I began playing literally everyone in chat warned me about it but I didn't listen. Yrs later here we are, everything they said came true.

Savathûn was the last expansion I played. Got tired of it, un-installed it and never looked back. Playstation has even given expansions away for free to PS+ players and I didn't even claim it.
Death Battle has always been overhyped garbage. You can invert the results of virtually every matchup they've ever showcased and that's the correct outcome. Nothing but filthy casuals being fake fans and fake experts on shit, cherry picking data and manipulating it to have the results they want so they can stir up more drama. The only saving grace to it are the fight scenes but all that's gotten stupid lately.

It's been a 10-year journey and over the years a lot of players have been dropping this game, even I dropped it when Destiny 2 came out.
I strongly disagree with that Silverback guy. Final Shape was good, with the exception of a few setbacks; like nerfing Titans, buffing enemies on lower level content, forcing solo players to find LFG's for things like exotic class item missions, etc. Truth be told, they should've just ended it on Final Shape and not imply that there'll be more to the story.
The last expansion was fire the one before that was the one that was trash the dei shit definitely didn’t help but the issue was for sure the overly rapid expansion the new offices the multiple incubation projects that went no where the missed time lines and high burn rate that they’ve had since halo even Microsoft said that about them the dei at bungie is an issue but that isn’t the issue in this one sometimes something doesn’t work because it’s being ran wrong not because of the dei

It's funny how the game is arguably in the best state it's ever been in, gameplay-wise, and the Final Shape was a hit, yet they still had to cut employees. I find it mind-boggling how some decisions this company makes leads to outcomes like this. I say all of this as a current slave to Destiny. I do at least hope some of the fake jobs got laid off.

The game is in a terrible state...the player drop-off was the fastest and steepest in franchise history. Pvp is a joke of hunter ability spam, hardly anyone completed the new raid (I did, but I truthfully hate it and I'm done with it), they level cap you in every pve activity now, they removed bounties so if you do need character level you have to do Pathfinder which may force you into pvp or gambit still in 2024. The hype and promise of an ending (which we did get) drove the initial burst of players when TFS dropped, but nobody is coming back now. It's over.

The Final Shape story was great! The first Echo story is a boring gay romance. I hate it. There are more gay and characters than there are straight ones. For a looter shooter about killing aliens and stopping multiple apocalypses...romances of any kind are pointless and take the spotlight away from the gamers' character and puts them on the back burner.

Bungie was one of a couple of studios which never turned its back on the Macintosh market in the '90s. I will never forget that, but the wokeness has put even my loyalty on pause. If they survive, I will be happy to see their next product. Thats a big IF
They turned their back big time on the Mac, especially during this time when Microsoft was a big rival. They announced and showed HALO at Macworld July 21st 1999… in 2000 Microsoft bought them and they cancelled Halo for the Mac and made it the flagship game for the XBox. On top of that it didn’t even come back to the Mac until Dec 2003 and it was a ported by another company.

I was indifferent to strand at first, but after making some builds it's quite fun.
The Final Shape is a great expansion, probably one of the best. If you were turned off with light fall expansion, definitely check out TFS way better.
