Childhood trauma/nostalgia all captured here… haven’t been able to watch Robocop again after watching it far too young and the execution scene scarring me for life 😮

I saw this aged about 14 or 15 and it genuinely traumatised me, I think I've only watched it once all the way though since then and I'm nearly 50.

Garage down the road from where I stayed at the time rented videos and my folks were away at some dinner/dance while my aunty was looking after me. we went down there, and my 8 year old self convinced her to get me this cos Ian Brown (not that one) in my class had seen it cos his big sister had got it for him. Woman in there didn't help matters just saying it's just a guy that turns into a robot. Seems harmless enough.......
Cut to the bit where the guy comes out the acid vat and is melting. I was borderline traumatised and my aunty had to cover my eyes and it wasn't till years later that I knew how she knew to tell me that he wasn't coming back. after it finished I was sworn to secrecy about her getting me Robocop.
    cut to the next morning:
    mum: how was last night?
    me: we got Robocop!!!
    aunty: CLYPE!
