  • I converted my gooseneck trailer to air ride. This is a ride well kit designed for big Tex trailers with Dexter axles.

      Watch my other videos the pusher axle is on the trailer now. The pusher axle is off a concrete truck

    How did you wire the compressor to receive power? Did you have to spice it into a existing wire? If so which one? I am also converting my spring to Air ride. Just having a hard time figuring out how to wire the compressor for power

      I use the air compressor on my truck to give air to the trailer. I put a plug on my truck right by the trailer wire plug

      install an automotive battery to replace your away battery, and you can either put an ignition switch to arm the air compressor control relay, or you can run the activation relay from the compressor to only come on when your running lights are on, the compressor ignition wire should only run less than a tenth of an amp

    When you put that pusher axle on how to you go about raising the weight ratings on the trailer?

    • @stacyp4534
      @stacyp4534  2 роки тому

      In Arizona we are lucky. On trailers there’s only 2 registrations for trailers. Both have permanent tags. They are registered below 10,000 pounds GVW and the other is above 10,000 pounds GVW. We don’t have to worry about the stupidity like other states. All axles count that’s why in Arizona you see dump trucks with pusher axles added to old trucks that weren’t sold with them.

    pretty cool! i do have a question, did adding the air bags stop the back and forth jerking of the trailer that happens while towing on a rough road?

      Not totally but it did help. It floats. I made a mistake by putting the shocker hitch on my trailer. If you have a standard hitch it helps to keep the porpoise movement to a minimum. Before I installed the shocker hitch it did actually pull without the surges.

      Man so with the air ride the shocker is unnecessary?

    What kit did you use and where did you order it

    • @stacyp4534
      @stacyp4534  4 роки тому +2

      It’s complicated but not too complicated. The kit is from ridewell. If you go to their web site it doesn’t show. You have to call ridewell manufacturing and tell them the axle tube diameters. They make several different kits but the kit for my big Tex isn’t listed. They had it but it’s just not listed on their web site. Call them have your trailer manufacture name plus the axle type, weight rating and axle tube diameters. From there they put the kit together for you.

      Absolutely great. The best thing I ever did to my trailer. I 100% recommend it if you can do it. I did blow an airbag. There was a shitty factory weld on the dovetail and when I was loaded the bag expanded and rubbed a hole from that shitty weld.

    thank you for awesome and useful video.... how did you buy the air ride conversion? where did you buy it from? Ride Well says they do not sell to consumers directly

    • @stacyp4534

      I really do not recall where I got the kit. I’m thinking I really did get it straight from ridewell. Let me see if I can find something that will help me with that. I do recall before I bought the kit I spent weeks researching it. I didn’t believe there was a kit that would work on these gooseneck trailers. I do know you have to call them because they don’t show this kit on their website.

    What did the kit cost? Thanks.

    • @stacyp4534
      @stacyp4534  4 роки тому +4

      If I remember correctly it was about $1,400 per axle. That did not include the dump valves or any items like the hoses and tanks and such. Ridewell does not have this kit listed, you have to call them. The kit is easy to install and so worth it. If you spend the money you won’t be disappointed. I love it.

    now the question is how to order the suspension kit for a non texas pride, jp, or diamond because they seem to have a doo not sell. do you remember having to give them your vin to order the kit?

    • @stacyp4534
      @stacyp4534  2 роки тому +1

      No the only thing they need to know is the axle tube size.

    • @mccarterjg
      @mccarterjg 2 роки тому +1

      @@stacyp4534 oh thank God 😊, everything else I looked online they don't have anything available and they usually just saying texts somewhere for Texas pride or dealer purchases only

    • @stacyp4534
      @stacyp4534  2 роки тому +1

      @@mccarterjg I went through the same issue. The kit is not on the ridewell website. I called straight to ridewell and they just needed to know the axle tube diameter. If it has changed then my guess is the big companies paid them not to sell the kit so they would get all the money. In fact they had the option to be able to lift one axle if I wanted to.

      @@stacyp4534 what you do is attach your leveling valve to the rear axle, add 2 solenoids to dump and cut off air to the leveling valve, weld some tabs to the front axle chain it up and allow air back into the suspension. The 50$ drop axle I'll be doing

    • @stacyp4534
      @stacyp4534  2 роки тому +1

      @@mccarterjg for the leveling I have a bar that goes from the front axle to the rear axle on each side. I did side to side so it wouldn’t lean if it gets side loaded
