Fantastic footage and commentary. Thank you 😁 Nice shot of the new bridge under the Risborough line for the proposed SEALR link road. That increases my optimism that it migjt happen !
Thanks for watching. It makes a nice change to see some planning ahead. It will obviously save a lot of time and money with them putting in that road bridge. It could be many years before we see the road though!
Thanks Keith - would be great to see a video that goes further south - i.e. actually to Stoke Mandeville village - and beyond - as I haven't seen any videos that cover this section.
Keith was my uncle :) The reason that hardly anyone does Stoke Mandeville and beyond is because it is within Halton airfield's no-fly zone. I prefer to stay away to avoid any hassle.
@@KarlVaughan Sorry about the typo on your name - I had just been watching a guitar history video on the 5 watt world channel (host name is Keith) and I guess my weekend brain was too slow to catchup! I didn't realise that the Halton no fly zone covered Stoke Mandeville village itself. I assumed it was more in the Wendover direction. I live in Stoke Mandeville (Actually in the no-fly zone, having just looked it up - good job I don't own a drone...). I understand the RAF base is due to close in the next couple of years, so I assume the no-fly zone will go at the same time (?).
No worries. I'm prone to doing silly things like that too. That no-fly zone is vast and I'm hoping it will cease when the land is decommissioned. I wonder if the flying club will remain though? That would mean it stays in place. We will see.
I think the new structure that you mentioned at 01:30 is actually another culvert. Looks like there is supposed to be 3 culverts in this area and the footbridge is supposed to be on the other side of the finished, easternmost one
There does appear tbe some progress on the Thame Valley viaduct with it looking as if they are finally doing the piers for the missing spans. I think that I could see the northernmost one complete and there seemed to be work going on on the others.
@KarlVaughan It's always the same. When the first railways were built everyone complained including landowners, but our railways became the greatest network in the world until the 1960s. Sometimes it's a wonder that anything gets done.
That cycle path looks very dangerous in places with sharp bends and raised manhole covers. For speeding cyclists ( not you of course Karl) even at dusk meeting pedestrians coming the other way who have no lights could result in a nasty accident.
I agree, although the surface is not finished yet. I don't know why there are sharp bends by those road junctions. Surely a sweeping curve would be better. Something like that will probably be cut across by people anyway which will make a mess so why not optimise that route now while it's in an unfinished state?
@nickgiles7568 After having a look at the plans it shows that the road where those sharp turns in the path are is temporary. After all the work is done it will be removed and the path will carry on in a slight curve as it does elsewhere. I'm glad of that because as I said, it wouldn't work as it is at the moment. I imagine it will be some time before that road is gone though because the contractors need access to the site from there. We'll just have to put up with it for now!
If you mean the thing I thought was a footbridge is not one, you're correct. That is a culvert. The footbridge is where the concrete base is next to the large culvert.

I find the aerial views fascinating. It makes you realise what a massive project it is.
Brilliant video Thank you

Yes, I think you're probably right there.
They've not done much on Oxford road this last week, as eveyone has had some time off after working so hard to finish the diversion on time!
Yep, that's probably it!
Hs2 needs to be built in full for the full benefit to be felt. In particular it benefits cities the further away from London they are the most.
HS2 needs to be built in full for **ANY** benefit to be felt.
FIFY.
Not much work on this section, as they have been working so hard on the Oxford road bypass!
Where is the street lights for the new road?
There won't be any as the old road didn't have them either.
@KarlVaughan Fair enough. Lets hope the road is safe at night time in that case

No doubt it will be running years late and massively a huge overspend IMHO.
Isn't that often the case though with huge projects like this? Crossrail is an example and now that it's all finished people love using it.

It's CALL TIME YOU KNOW

Well good luck on your bike until they have finished.@KarlVaughan
Karl, I don't think they are footbridges, they look more like underpasses.

Why do you do the job
