As a New Yorker who always thinks of Seoul as a little like the city I grew up in with its layers of co-existing past, present and potential future, this moved me a great deal. I worked in Soho when it was only industrial lofts and a true neighborhood. Now it’s all gone. The writing of this documentary and Yesung’s gentle, loving narration are beautiful. It’s my first look at the series but I will watch them all. I would ask it if you could please share with Yesung that somebody needs to document the history of modern Korean music in hard form - a book, a physical collection, a film that will not be written over . The future is always relentless in its attempts to walk over the past that made it possible. And people with power like to tell a story that makes them look good. Now that so much is digital the risk of losing facts, losing history is greater than ever. Stone markers, buildings, the studio of the artisan amplifier, his words, they don’t lie. Could Yesung be the man to support such a project? Could you? I think so.

How beautiful it's to know a little more about every corner that is hidden in Seoul.
To think that those places that at some point had a boom and an important impact and now are feared because they could disappear..
Modernity in any city causes these places to be forgotten, I wish we could value them a little more and continue supporting these businesses.
Thank you so much to 예성 오빠 for always showing us incredible places💕

When Scented Things came on, I couldn't believe how much the introduction of the song suited the vibe of the entire scene that was shot - with oppa and the city through the window. It was like travelling through time with his music. The feeling was so magical and it transported me back to those vintage times. That scene hit me so hard and I was so glad the footage lingered a little longer there. Thank you for this wonderful episode again!

It's fun to see how things from the past still survive and become part of modernization today
In the current era, people talk about what new things they can have, like new gadgets, new vehicles, and so on for today's existence,
whereas what we see in this video is proof that existence is not always what happens today, but what can be survives is what has quality impact and what makes it have memorable for a long time,
it would be great to remain a part of the past that still exists among people who are still searching for existence itself
fight for K Heritage and Yesung who have presented this side of South Korea, hopefully I can be a part of it ❤️

Oh my goodness, where to begin. Yesung, you are an old soul, and that is what I love most about the journey you take us on with each new adventure. When I started planning my trip to S Korea, a few years ago, it was specifically to see a side of history I’ve only read about. I find no greater joy than being able to experience something on a historical level and why my trip in April 2025 is so important to me. Through this channel I’ve had the opportunity to communicate, in comments, with people who have given me wonderful information on what to look for & notice. While I wish you could walk with me on my adventure, next spring, I know it is not a possibility, but on a positive note I can walk & see the journeys you have taken us on, and through memory I can say I did it too. My grandmother and mother were story tellers, I gained this gift from them as there is a story for everything. We remember best when we can associate with something. While I do not look it, but I’m a bit older. Through experiences & different times I have gained so much. While I love history I’m also a lover of music, there is so much to be said about both. The memories I will leave behind will have some of the best stories & that is how we live in the memory of others. Like my grandmother and mother I will pass down what I learned from them, but also my own story. Thank you for taking us along with you again & thank you to team Yessay. ❤

Great video! Great to see the ruins of an old government building, the marker stones, and the long term investment that was made by the man who builds electronics from scratch. Hearing the vinyls played through the handcrafted speaker and the setting of the workshop made it have such a nostalgic feel. I really appreciate that in this fast paced, throw-away society, there are still a few people who take time to appreciate things of the past. You just don't want to wait until something is gone before you (finally) see value in something. Thank you, Yesung, for your continued investment of your time and your heart in these heritage projects.
The very detailed English captions are also highly appreciated!

Thank you for this wonderful episode with Yesung.
It is interesting and charming to see this district with its people and history, and how in tune Yesung was with the amp creator.
I think, whenever modern people turn towards the origin of the modern architecture and privileges, it becomes visible how what enabled it persevered; mostly because it is still needed , the knowledge.
Those amps were beautiful and sounded high class.
What one wants to prolong and hand further into the future?
In my personal case it is the appreciation of what enabled the now, in design, society and as human being.
The knowledge of those people fades because no one follows in their shoes.
I grew up in the 1980s. I know what I talk about.
One thing that seems to fascinate modern people is the haptic and to touch something in the digital era.
While so much becomes artificial, what matters is still organic in shape, haptic and use, and such isn't mass produced.
We live in a privileged global connected era, but only few can lead the bridge to maintain both.
In Germany we have also those centers that often held also apartments from the 1960s and 1970s.
Nowadays but no one wants to live there, the rent is low and the poverty high.
Many cities in Germany were rebuilt in the 1950s to 1980s.
There are still apartment buildings of brick which are from the 1950s.
I live in one. Poorly isolated and sound safe, but in decent infrastructure and affordable. Which is a huge problem nowadays to find. Same as with people of integrity and manners.
Back in the 1980s there were still farmers and small businesses in the back of apartment houses in Berlin, in mid of the city, way more small businesses of matter and traditions in all larger cities, all gone because of the ways of economy. And the luxury to buy craftsmanship, only few have it, while so many thrive for economical success while unable to make use of their privileges in humanity. What enabled such carefree thinking, followed by a society that lacks empathy because it trained itself to be empty. It doesn't understand that what we had as challenging they got it easier and often take it for granted while claim to discover it newly. It feels odd to me. 😅
As interested I am in design, culture, art and history, as much I enjoy to see Yesung appreciate same.
I wish all participants of the lottery good luck. I won't be able to participate.
But I wish I could afford the LP, such amp and a place to be safe from harm and enjoy the moment.
Best wishes to the amp creator.
My mother is same age. I can relate how those people still provide while slowly feel how the modern times grow like grass in its high rise and fast forward.
I'm also a good combination of old and new.
The urge to take photos to preserve, I know it well. Same as the eerie feeling of being in such memory.
    Thanks to the team again.
I look forward to more such interesting episodes of calming voice that meet my interest.
What is important? To acknowledge where all modern privileges have their origin in without denying same, and improve what needs to, while treasure what already is good and give it space to be. What remains from modern times? Not much. Memories, ideas, love. What was ancient found after years in the past, I doubt much but plastic remains. Even to preserve like in photos and art of all kind, most feels as empty as the digital era feels but Yesung's art has depth.
Since I was interested in visiting Seoul, it was not for the kpop and glitter, it was for the people, the art, craftsmanship and history. So while I'm still unable to visit for the time being, I'm happy about this content.

This is so up my street, especially the stories of the past are so important not only to protect but to also practice too...., lots of old skills are lost to the modern way of life. I enjoyed immensely listening to the expert of the Tube Amplifiers and his accomplishments over the years were a gift to be imparted. i do believe our heritage should be protected and preserved everything has its place and can be beautifully integrated. I was happy to go on this journey with Yesung and the Yessay Team. It is amazing what treasures you find under your very nose ❤

The sights and stories of the old and new in Korea were new to me as I live in another country. Buildings and cityscapes where one can feel the breath of the people. nostalgic scent or sound we can feel in daily lives. It may be difficult to protect such things for a long time. But I think like this program, to capture them on video and send them out lead to raise an issue and to transmit them to our memories deeply. Once again, I thought this program was precious and wonderful.

Thank you, Yesung oppa, and K-Heritage channel, for taking us on a poetic journey through the historic alleyways of Euljiro and the lively expanse of Sewoon Plaza. With each methodical step, this vlog peels back layers of Seoul's cultural tapestry, revealing the delicate threads that connect tradition and innovation in this vibrant meeting place. While watching Yesung oppa walk through Euljiro and Sewoon Plaza, where the essence of heritage mingles with the pulse of urban life, the message rings true: that in the midst of time, the threads of tradition must be delicately woven into the fabric of tomorrow, ensuring that Seoul's rich tapestry endures through the ages.

It would be nice to hear why Mr. Ryu Jae Yong continues to create tube amplifiers for almost 50 years. Was it because of passion? But I can see in his eyes and the way he talks that he really loves doing this kind of work. This episode made me think that everything left behind can also be a heritage - be it memories, familiar sounds, scented things, scenery, or even flavors. And these heritages will always be a part of me.
p.s. I fell in love with the sounds of LP playing through Mr. Ryu’s tube amplifiers. The sound is unique, rich and crazy. 👍👍

13:58 It is simply amazing how every country and person evolves in the sense of creating more complexity that brings us simplicity.
History is the essence of everything that exists in this world and of course should not be disregarded even with the passing of time.
At all times and even with the different impressions that we must leave in the future let us respect the agility and effort of the craftsmen who left us their creations, knowledge and teachings!

It's so fascinating and fun to see the other side of South Korea aside from their pop culture. It is also nice to know and see that the old tradition from Euljiro Sewoon Plaza is still standing and existing in the midst of South Korea's modern city.
I am just watching but hearing the sound quality that came from the vintage turntable made me envious and jealous. I also want to hear it live. Nowadays, we can easily access music through different music platforms but listening to a vintage turntable is such a delightful experience.
It's amazing how the Koreans preserved these places and culture. Years and generations may have passed but the stories, history, and legacy of those who built and continue the culture and tradition transcends in every generation.
Thank you K-Heritage and Yessay for always delighting your viewers with quality, meaningful, and fun content. Can't wait for your next collaboration.
