  • Briggs opposed twin running with a VM26 Mikuni style carb from Amazon. I had to elongate the holes on the intake that came with the carb for it to fit on the stock Briggs manifold. I’ve also changed the needle to the highest setting (clip at the lowest position), swapped to a 90 main jet and a 25 pilot jet (stock that came with the carb was 100 main and 20 pilot, needle clip in the middle position). I’m also using a vacuum type fuel pump which I will list the link to.
    I’m planning on using this engine on a 12’ Jon boat with a custom made surface drive.

      The older model 28 single cylinders they made were also pretty good. But yeah, Opposed Twins are awesome

    Get an intake from a horizontal shaft engine. It will flow way better

    Hi! I need an advice since I got an opposite 18hp and I can't remember how I should assembly back the intake valve, the order of oil stem spring and retainer. Plus I need to know how bad can be that I made a govenor delete, since I can't assembly it back cause the thread for the pin(retainer) is shredded so needs I fresh thread to keep the governor assembly. Thank you in advance.

      It’s actually gotten a lot better since I fine tuned the jetting. I think I have the needle all the way in the highest position (clip on the bottom groove) and a 90 main jet. I forget what I have for a pilot jet, but it runs really well now.

    How did you hook the vacuum fuel pump up?

    • @joshmanis9860

      same way you hook and vacuum pump on you hook a pulse line from the crankcase to it then up to you fuel lines

    Hi I was curious what other mods you did to it and how it runs off of a single carb? Can I go bigger or is 26mm good

    • @ozzyvanhalenrox
      @ozzyvanhalenrox  Рік тому

      I wouldn’t go any bigger. If you go this route, look for an intake manifold off a horizontal shaft engine. The intake running on the vertical shaft engine is already massively long, so the addition of the 90 degree intake creates more issues. I have to run it with the choke half way on for it to run okay. I have a horizontal shaft intake I’m going to install and then mess with the jetting again.

      @@ozzyvanhalenroxgotcha I’m running the exact same engine as you and I was also wondering where you hooked up the vacuum line on the pulse pump cus it looks like it’s on the manifold but idk how you did it?
