Beautiful spirit. I hope she recovers and heals from the things she went through and that God will allow her story to be help for someone else. The hardest thing sometimes is looking back seeing how much you endured. Facing forward her story will help so many wives/girlfriends in the NBA and other women dealing with life. It's wise to always remember..everything that glitters isn't gold.

I have no idea why during that interview a tear even fell my eyes. I guess as someone who also went through a divorce (even as a man) I understand how difficult it is, and the amount of doubt & fears that enter your mind every day about yourself the 1st couple of yrs. I was married 15yrs w/2 kids. It's very difficult for a while, but you do eventually come out the other side. Salutes & prayers for you Ms.Sonya.💚

Gossip about them generates revenues for a multitude of outlets. Like she said "...people benefit from their stories and there's no shrinking back..." From the outside looking in, it can appear to be a beautiful life for a woman, wife & mother of an NBA player. However, that truly depends upon the player. There's obviously a great deal of pressure on NBA players. They must perform on the highest level and always, for the most part, be a positive representation of the NBA’s culture. However, what we often don't see is the wives and girlfriends in the background who at times can suffer from loneliness and negative views or opinions from the public. Sonya is a beautiful woman, but for those NBA wives/girlfriends who appear regular, they can receive an onslaught of negative comparisons or just plain rude comments about their appearance. It has to be hard to stay positive and confident in these relationships if you're with a man who doesn't really see you and honour you in positive ways.

Agree completely. Plus, there are temptations of multitude of very attractive personalities, both good and bad that these athletes and other famous people are exposed to including groupies and golddiggers. Scam artists, too. These athletes are high testosterone types who often indulge themselves. Magic Johnson had...was it more than a 1,000 or so sexual partners?...when the Aids epidemic struck him?? And that type of activity has gone on and continues to do so in the NBA. All that wealth, glamor, opportunities to indulge and/or cheat is highly available.

Black women are the backbone of families, communities and the countries we are in; we never give them permission to let the idea of being tired or depressed- too busy taking care of the world. The vulnerability is major because is it not just expressing but expressing it it in safe/ sacred places. We must know that if we are too come forward then as Black women we will have a black lash of some kind to make us regret coming out , but be not afraid because we will also have this unconditional support that we have always yearned for. May that power of expression w authenticity raise our world, peace sister Sonia 🙏🏽♥️

    • @jazzkyng9717

You black women are always in victim mode. I don't have no sympathy for Sonya, Jada Pinkett, or Ayesha Curry. They live the lives most of you would never live. This is just womanism 101, when caught in something unflattering, write a book go on a bunch of women daytime talk shows, and be some kind of victim. We live in a gynocentric society, every place you go is a safe space, the only time it isn't a safe space, is when you choose to go where your curiosity lead you, instead of common sense. Anything to avoid accountability. Black women haven't been the backbone of families since the 50's and 60's. Look no further than the condition of the black communitah, marriage rates stands at 25% and dropping, compared to over 50% for your counterparts in other communities. 72% children born out of wedlock, backbone my @ss. I bet there are far more virgin black men than virgin black women. Simply put, you guys have done nothing but sexually liberate yourselves to being sexual objects not even requiring any kind of commitment from a man until you are 2 to 3 kids in. After you become used up from giving your womb away to a bunch of undeserving men, you run to the church and pray to god to send you a man. Black men are hipped to that playbook thanks to social media.

Mom is the real game in your guy's life. She does not need to say this to you but she needs more than ever right now! I think you guys know this. The real Ring in this life is to do the right thing and have not regrets and no could or should or would've. She needs you guys in her life. And, bring your father into this Family gathering. Then you guys will have the real Ring of life on your Fingers. Love them both, Mom and pop. Remember Family is forever and bring them together and put them first. That is the jump shot to make and it the same time I know that you can make the shot. I see the joy which you give people when you make those Shots. Now let your family know how much you live them. The ball is in your court now. Bring your family together because They are the re so Ring. Bro. Unite

Dell lashed out because of the financial aspects of it which is how we the public initially found out. But their children, loving them equally, still backed their mother. It's still a painful emotional situation no matter your age and stature in life.

It’s about having a choice to live your best life and not go to your grave unhappy. There is nothing worst then being lonely with a spouse or partner. Sonya put up with Dell's "outside straying" throughout their marriage. It's something that was well known in Dell's circle of associates. The marriage reached their ultimate crisis and was over once the last child, Sydel had moved on. Sonya's job was done and she had to figure out what was left for her to do. If you noticed, all her children supported her. They all knew the background story.

If you want peace Mrs.Curry here are some things that may help: 1. Less talking, more praying. 2. Forget those things which are behind, press forward 3. Show and ask for forgiveness and mercy as you take your ass back home where it is safe. It is a jungle out here, and you are like a domestic pet running free, oblivious to the dangers. You don't see the wild animals trying to get within striking distance.

Sonya has had a lot of Dell's ongoing "outside activities" throughout their marriage to be "broken" about. She just chose this time to try and find her own new journey and new purpose. Her job as a wonderful mother is mostly done, although I know she'll always be a parent forever. And that job is never completely over.

Only thing I give Sonya credit for is being strong enough and real enough to walk away with her life to do her own thing because of what she felt and wanted outside the marriage instead of staying with Dale and sneaking around being a snake committing adultery behind his back and acting as if she was still a faithful wife, at least now it's all out in the opening and both of them can move on with their lives and what ever the future holds for each of them and their wonderful family, the important thing we all have to remember about life and marriage is that you change and you grow together or apart as time moves on and being there are two individuals in a marriage each person have their own set of thoughts and feelings which are definitely not the same as their significant other sometimes and if there is no ground for the two to compromise constructively then their marriage dream may start to fizzle out to empty energy until there is nothing left to hold onto.
