To me the backrooms should be like a modern iteration of "The Maze" from the Minotaur legend. A hellish place in which you face your own darkness. A game that does this right is Silent Hill.

Only to suddenly, without really paying attention, be told that your Pokemon have contracted a virus. Then only realizing it seconds after you already clicked away on the text. That was surreal. I didn't exactly have the means to just Google it back then. It felt like I hallucinated it. I had to wait until the following morning to tell my friends about it in school. None of them believed me.
