Thank You! Removing the battery is standard. Removing the small hard drive and Ram cover is also standard, and removing the 2 screws holding the keyboard in would be standard. There are a lot of videos on how to replace the keyboard in a Dynabook, but your video was the only one that showed going at it from the bottom by the control key. And, the screw I needed to remove was actually inside the area near the RAM. Success thanks to you.
Awesome video, I'm working on a C75D-A7286 and got all the screws out of the back but couldn't figure out why the rear cover still wouldn't come off. Didn't notice the keyboard clips and screws underneath so thanks!
This a terrific video, really clear and easy to follow. It has taken away any fear I had. The one I am looking at has a fan that is not spinning at all, so obviously the laptop generates overheating messages within a minute of starting up. The fan looks very accessible, so I'm hoping it's just clogged with dust. thank you!
Thanks for the video, my toshiba satellite had a broken display and I replaced it for a new one, but now the new screen is dim, barely can see the screen, so I think the problem is with the backlight connection, and this video gives me the clue about wherever to search the problems, thanks again
I have model C50-A-1JP. It is similar to the model you have dismantled but you don't have to remove the keyboard in order to get the bottom cover off. You do have to remove the one screw that holds it in from underneath though. The keyboard is held in with one screw on the left hand side fromt the front. The right hand side of the keyboard has a flat headed pin where the screw would be expected to be. If you do want to get the keyboard out you have to lever the keyboard up very carefuly with a screwdriver pushed underneath it to release this pin. to replace push the right hand side of the keyboard down and the pin will click into place.
In order for me to clean the laptop with compressed air do i have to open it like you did or is there an easier/safer way for me to do it? I'm kinda scared to do the things you did due to me being a total noob and a bit clumsy. Excellent video mate. Cheers from Greece.
Hello ! Excellent video - although I'm pretty late in watching it ! May I ask you where the CLEARCMOS jumper are located precisely, and how I can short them to remove a bios password ? Thank you so much beforehand. Paul from France
Hi, your video is very interesting and well done!! At 2:24 you began to describe how there are 11 screws to remove the back panel. Overtime I have lost a few of these screws, I have no idea how but they have seemed to have fallen out!! Do you know what type of screw they are? Like the size and where I could get some more?
Hi, Thanks for your vidéo really helpful. I have a problem with the audio jack and would like to know if it's easily accessible. I presume that there is a soldering issu.
Hi David - very useful and clear video (thank you). I've tried taking the CMOS battery out to re-set the BIOS password but it does not work (left it out for hours, several times). I thought newer computers used EEPROM for BIOS passwords and therefore didn't need power to maintain it. Is there a jumper to use, like B500 or XXX on older Satellites? Regards
dpcomputing Yes, all power disconnected, several times and overnight. However, I have fixed it. On the C-50A there is no B500 or XXX but there are three jumpers beside the CMOS battery (below, right). They are a set of three, with a single arrow to the JP numbers. They are clearly for (proficient) user access - nicely made jumpers, and easy to jump with a flat head screwdriver, arranged in three pairs of gold triangles. I jumped all three, one at a time, and one of them re-set the BIOS password. Am back in, and no longer letting my kids near my laptop ... (Couldn't have done it without your tear-down video - thanks!)
+Web Master Hi.. I've identified the three sets of jumpers next to the CMOS battery and have tried jumping each of them one by one but still reuire password to enter bios.. My model is a C50D-A-13X if it makes any difference? Did you jump them whilst powering on from battery? from mains? with CMOS battery in or out? HELP!!!
Hey so my pc (this one) seems to have overheating issues, any tips? I believe its my fan but I won't take apart my laptop since I'm not an expert with the whole insides of a laptop. Im using it right now and I have it open for like, 50 minutes and its already lagging af. need help plz
dear Thanks for this fruitful info. can you recommend a supplier to purchase the motherboard for the same model in your video: Toshiba satellite c50 A569
Excellent video!! Many thanks to share it with us. I am having trouble with the display (I gess is a bad contact betwwen the flat cable and the motherboard). When I make some pressure with my hand to the back of the PC, close to HDD, the display works fine. Do you know where is located in the mother the connetor for the flat cable which connects the display? Thank you in advanced
The screw on the bottom case closest to the power adapter fell out a while ago. Lately when I open & close the screen, the case near the hinge gets stressed and deforms & I worry that it might break. The screw won't thread back into the hole where it came from (appears to be stripped in the hole). I was thinking of trying to force in teh next size hole and not have to take the base off to fix it. Any suggestions?
Stormas3000 Well, the CPU in this model (and most regular sized laptops) can be replaced without problem, there's a little black screw just under the pointy end of the copper cooling system, you turn it a little bit, releasing it from the socket, and the CPU is yours ;) Another thing is try to replace the socket, which would be something really hard to do. But yeah, I would check more powerful CPU's designed for this laptop series and sockets before decide to change it.
My co c50 won’t connect to the internet because some part is messed up. Part of the plastic on mine came apart slightly and when I clicked it back in I had internet for one day and then nothing. What piece(a) might this be?
Sounds like you either damaged the network / wifi card or the network port. Are you running via cable or network? If wireless the actually wireless card may have become dislodged.
PLEASE HELP ME, the lapto work fine and I only clean my fan and the assembly again, I dont touch other things then the laptop don pass the AC charge and the laptop dont turn on, the laptop die, the laptop
Hi, I bought the Toshiba C50-A-1JR They told me I had a Intel hd graphics 4000, but I only have a hd graphics. Is it possible to change the processor of this computer ? I searched, but I don't find any socket for the processor. Can you help me ? Thanks
Thank you for the great video. I've got a C50-A-1DP and i'm searching for a HDD Caddy to add a SSD to the laptop but i can't find one with the proper cover. Any suggestions ??
Hey: Wondering if anyone knows the SIZE of the 11 screws holding the bottom case? I'm attempting to repair one for my Niece & have about 5 of these lower screws missing. Thanks in advance!
Hi, thanks for the detailed video! I'm looking to replace the HDD with an SSD, and install a HDD instead of the DVD drive. Is there anything in particular I need to do for this model? Would I need a mount for it or something similar? Thanks in advance!
I have the C50-A-OFN and ive had it for about a year now, I don't know why but the touchpad is really worn out same with the keyboard but I don't know why it wore out so quickly because I don't use it 24/7. The Intel Pentium 2020m CPU goes up to the mid 80C temperature and the 500GB hardrive has been as high as 55C while playing Minecraft. Any advice on how to get the temperatures down?
Zephyr302 MC Clean the fan and grill. If you are game you can also take off the heatsink and remove the old thermal paste and reseat it with some new thermal paste.
I have to replace my top case and screen frame on a Toshiba satellite c55d-b5102 but can't find one for that model can you tell me which ones would be compatible thank you
Calvin Junk disconnect from the main power, remove the BIOS battery and main battery. Leave the computer for an hour or two and the BIOS should be reset.
hello dpcomputing. can you please let me know if i can add a ssd drive additionally apart from the default 1TB HDD to my TOSHIBA SATELLITE C50-A569 laptop ?
i have a thosiba satellite C50D-A-134 but is has a AMD cpu of 1ghz to slow to play games but i have an old laptop with a INTEL cpu of 2,40ghz i want to replace that in my thosiba computer but i dont now if its compatible on this laptop so please answer back
Just remove the cmos battery and put it in again. When you take the HDD/RAM panel, remove the clock battery, wait about 30secs and put it back in again.
Hi Need a help. I down grade my Toshiba Satellite C50D-A laptop to win7 I'm having difficult to install my Lan card and SD card driver do you know what it is and where to download it? I did try it in Toshiba website but no luck.
Domestic Minecrafter sorry if it is different it must be a slightly different model to the one I have so I can't offer any suggestions as I don't know what model yours is.
if u can help me will be great I got same one over time I check it dies after power up feel like idk the prob well most of it its that sometimes does show low battery and I put it recharge for while when I power logo shows up then I wait on black screen very soon it auto force shut down and I need remove the battery and hold pb for while then try again its near new I don't think its battery issue idk the real one there was electric discharge in else city they had lot DMG like burned off lights TVs n more blow in my tool too same day this happen
hi where is the reset button my laptop wont power up at all i was charging my phone in the usb port and laptop just powerd of and never turnd back on or power up again
exact same laptop wont turn on, wont charge. Suddenly stopped working last month. I took it to PC World they said its a motherboard problem.... can i replace the motherboard i have another toshiba laptop that i dont use and it works, think i could swap the motherboards ?
Thank you! I want to replace the wifi card in my new C55-A5195 with a card that supports 5G and bluetooth. I couldn't figure out how to get at it...... Your video is a big help.
so I decided to clean my fan just like you show in the video however now the screen wont go on. I have no idea what I might have done wrong. If someone could help
Thank you for your answear but I've actually managed to make it work again. Think some dust might have been blocking the fan 'cause all I did was removing it and give it a good clean.
It is a pain to change CPU's in laptops. If they aren't soldered in you need to find out the exact model CPU's supported in that model due to thermal and BIOS limitations. Your best bet would be to contact Toshiba direct to confirm what CPU's the laptop supports.
I have the Toshiba C50t-A. I'm guessing it's the same if not, relatively! I have a question about the GPU. Am I able to upgrade? I've read allot of forums about upgrading a laptops GPU in general, Witch they all pretty much say no. Because Allot of laptops use Intel integrated graphics I'm guessing? Although, For my particular model I know for a fact that my Toshiba C50t-A Does in fact have a NVIDIA Geforce 710m 1gb GPU in it, However I do not know if it is removable or upgradable. If the answer is yes, Then I'll look into it further. If the answer is no, is this because the GPU processor itself is fixed to the motherboard or some other reason, Like the Bios/UEFI Won't allow it? Reason for thinking that is because I am unable to access the Advanced features to change the RAM Voltage from 1.35v to 1.5v so I can use ddr3 and ddr3l. I think that's very silly for the manufacturers to lock us out. Bios and RAM used to be very versatile, Any way back to the subject, GPU Upgradable or not?
+Jake Maggs I would say it is fixed to the motherboard so no. Generally with laptops you can upgrade very little due to their design (ie small form factor) and thermal issues.
joessmax - I do not know but try taking the cmos battery out and wait about 60 seconds for the capacitors to discharge. (make sure you take the main laptop battery out too)
@dpcomputing please help me my toshiba c50-a model is having usb auto eject problem..i have installed windows 10/8/8.1/ even win7 till same usb problem..and my bios have password..which am tied of typin d password everytime i switch on my pc.. please advice me on how to solve this usb auto eject..plz also direct me on how to get 32bit drivers for it...
I wouldn't recommend upgrading CPU's unless you know for certain that the model you are upgrading to it is supported by Toshiba. This is due to BIOS and thermal constraints.
Cheers David. Without this tutorial, I’d never have discovered those 7 screws under the keyboard. 🙏
Toshiba really doesn't want us to clean that fan
Thanks for the video makes so much easier to repair the broken DC jack
Needed to tear my Satellite down to replace snapped screen hinges - I'm a complete amateur and this video was brilliant help...Thanks!

Whats the module next to the BIOS battery? GPU?
Cheers for this video, I have to replace my power jack and this should make it a lot easier now I know exactly how to take it apart !
Wow, talk about over-engineered. Thank you so much for that.
Thank you for this simple yet helpful video.
Awesome video, I'm working on a C75D-A7286 and got all the screws out of the back but couldn't figure out why the rear cover still wouldn't come off. Didn't notice the keyboard clips and screws underneath so thanks!

+Lee C Yes just clean out the fan and hopefully it will fix the issue.
+dpcomputing It turns out the fan and heat sink were perfectly clean so I ordered a replacement off EBay $11 U.S.. 4-6 weeks via slow boat from China.
Thanks for the video, my toshiba satellite had a broken display and I replaced it for a new one, but now the new screen is dim, barely can see the screen, so I think the problem is with the backlight connection, and this video gives me the clue about wherever to search the problems, thanks again

Paul Lakra thanks for the info on the C50-A-1JP. Much appreciated!
Concise and to the point especially on how to remove the keyboard. I would have damaged the left-hand screw if you didn’t remind it

I would recommend taking it into a repair shop. Using a larger screw may damage other internal components.
Thanks for getting back to me. Cheers Jim
I just want to clean the cooling system, how can I do this without disassembly, as I don't want to risk any damage.
Abdallah Mohmed - I wouldn't recommed changing the CPU due to heat and thermal issues related to a faster CPU.
dpcomputing but would it be possible to change the processor without soldering? does the mb have a socket?thanks for the vids!
I can't check as I don't have access to that model anymore but I believe there is no socket.

I have to replace my top case and screen frame on a Toshiba satellite c55d-b5102 but can't find one for that model can you tell me which ones would be compatible thank you
If a Google search doesn't help contact Toshiba.
What are your general thoughts on the build quality - is it sturdy? The plastic looks fairly tough, but hard to tell.
It isn't a ruggardised design but it is fairly good. I'd suggest you go into you local bulk electronics store and see if you can have a hands on look.
Do you know where the jumper to reset the BIOS is in this board?
Calvin Junk disconnect from the main power, remove the BIOS battery and main battery. Leave the computer for an hour or two and the BIOS should be reset.

***** There is no graphics card per se but a graphics chips directly on the motherboard.
Can you tell me the jumper number in this same model because my laptop had bios password ...I have forgotten the password of bios
Just remove the cmos battery and put it in again. When you take the HDD/RAM panel, remove the clock battery, wait about 30secs and put it back in again.

+dpcomputing Thanks for the swift feedback! I decided to overclock the 710m a smidgen although, I may just stream from my Desktop.
Can i change the graphic card in this model. It is not good enough😞
please let me know if you get the answer for this question.
Thank you so much, That's was very helpful

DP Computing How much RAM can this laptop hold?
and what is best for gaming?
Luke Smith 16G is the max. The more memory the better but I'd suggest at least 8G
dpcomputing do u know a good place to buy some is
Luke Smith Depends on where you live! :-) I'd say just google it!
can i replace another cpu i have i3 and i want i5 is that possible
I wouldn't recommend upgrading CPU's unless you know for certain that the model you are upgrading to it is supported by Toshiba. This is due to BIOS and thermal constraints.
Thank you sir
