Thanks. Been appreciating the recent key fob vids and how the vehicle responds in different scenarios. As a new highlander owner these features were clear as mud and were harder than necessary to find proper info.
Thanks for the great insights. Had to come rescue my mom from a parking lot because her new car had a dead fob. Now she knows how to handle the situation. Also took the advice on turning the fob off for security. If you haven't already done it for yourself, I'd love to see you put a Catalytic converter anti-theft on your vehicle. The thieves have been all over my area and I'm not seeing a lot of good information testing these systems. I'm probably going with the CatStrap myself based on what little I could find. Thanks for all you do brutha!
Brian Thanks you for info... I had my keys fobs checked by a Toyota key tech, the electronics were defective. Rebuilt fobs from old ones now they are working fine. didn't have to buy new fobs and have new keys made,, Saved a bundle.
Thank you for this information. I have a 2015 toyota highlander and none of my keys will work. I changed the batteries and tried to program the fob still dosent work.
You’re welcome! No timeline because some people need a new one in 2-3 years. Other, 8-10 years. Just enjoy and remember even with a dead battery you can still get in and drive the car just fine :-)
Recently purchased a 2011 Prius with two original keys. One works, the other is apparently damaged. I can start the car by pressing against the start button, but transmitter(?) is apparently broken. Toyota says I have to purchase a new key, but I'm wondering after we have two working keys, is there a way we could chance fixing the broken one? FYI Battery was replaced, red light on FOB does come on when button is pressed.
Have 2016 toyota feilder hybrid . The car only give me first ignition but to go to ready mode keep asking for key . My car is press button . Don't what's going on
A few years but the video shows that even with a dead battery you’re not stranded and can even start the car so no sense in keeping a spare in your purse.

Hi sorry I am not sure what’s going on there
Just wondering if it's possible to repair a broken transponder(?) on a key so that it will communicate with the car.@@brianruperti

Not sure, bring the car to service
How long before battery will expire? I was thinking maybe to stock one in my purse? ( battery replacement for Smart key)

I need the safety features as a woman. Too much human trafficking and weirdos.
