Now why was I not surprised that as soon as the two large eddy pools were ready to break through that he’d focus on something totally useless and irrelevant?
Dear camera man, next time please choose a vantage point similar to 8:30 and stick with it consistently and steadily. Ill choose what aspects to focus on in view, please dont try to select it for me.
Exactly! This people need to learn that it’s wideshots that are helpful when you’re an amateur videographer... you don’t have to move the camera around and everyone gets to see what they wanna see. Don’t start messing around with pan and zoom until you’re an expert, because you’re almost surely going to screw it up and make crap.
The lesson here is, make sure the water can flow uninterupted once you break the dam, and the waterflow will enlarge the channel. Once the current slows down, the sand will sink and stop the flow. Its funny to see how much of the water doesnt flow to the sea directly but sinks into the sand. The difference between the flow at the river side and the sea side in huge. All that water sinks into the sand. Also, get someone who has some experience with a camera and filming.
I’ll assume this guy had his 5yo do the filming while he was on the backhoe. I do appreciate the mic being pointed directly into the wind though it helped me gauge my hearing loss.

Rivers naturally flow into the oceans. But accumulated sand will close the rivers mouth which will cause the them to overflow and flood the lands, crops, homes, etc. By removing accumulated sand and reopening the mouth, the river resides and in turn lands and homes are safer. It’s a win win.
Thank you for putting a sensible comment in for this video. There's too many idiots posting complaints. And thank you for the answer to the question I was asking myself. 👍
I kept saying to the person with the camera: "No, the front! The front of the water! I don't care about what's happening back up where the channel is being dug."
Normal people when filming: hold camera still and focus on the most interesting part This guy: shakey shakey time, and look at this, isn't this the most interesting part (not)
Phone makers doing amazing video and audio recording capabilities. And people doing this... ;-) The last 3 minutes were epic, without irony: water searched for the sea and almost instantaneously a channel was formed.
Wow the camera goes up stream and then down stream, over and over and over. Pointing the camera at the ground every time you moved ? are you so freaking clumsy you cant walk on a beach and film at the same time ? I would rather have watched the backhoe trying to get off the sand without getting stuck then what I saw... Oh by the way Great Job with the camera, said no one ever.
Remember the days at the beach trying to make rivers in the sand, using nothing but a bucket and spade, and water left over for the tide stuck in a puddle, or damming up some drain water... the dude in the digger gets to do every day, using a whole river and a digger! 😀 talk about living the dream 😂 I’d probably get fired because I’d waste time making river patterns between the river and the sea for the river to fill up haha. 😂
All they had to do is take a stick and drag it through the sand about an inch thick and gravity/nature would’ve done the rest. Check out the Black Rock River formation. It starts with just a few trickles to a full blown river because of the quick erosion of the sand. Heck, get a garden rake and start at the lake going towards the ocean and the rest will take care of itself
This cameraman is the kind of guy that would film the first man stepping on Mars by constantly going back and forth between the man's foot and the spacecraft, full zoom, "to catch all the elements of the scene". Make sure you don't have anything fragile around when watching, as a common reaction is to want to destroy stuff as a nerve relief
This is a perfect study of the end result of what happens when you give someone a camera who has NO idea on how to use one and tell them to film this event!!!!
Wow. You really helped mother earth nicely. But it would rather result in epic dangers in future. The beach, although not so helpful, but it protected the seawaves pushing river water. And would result in instability of river pressure, or in case of thunderstorms or even worse weather, the lower cities might get submerged due to high pressure sea water pushing river water back. Such a pretty calm river was opened to doom of many cities maybe😞

For as much as I love earth I cannot lie. I was rooting for water on this one.
Sebastian Keano check out the Black Rock River video. It starts with just a single stream. These guys didn’t need to dig a such a big trench. All they had to do is make a trail about an inch deep from the lake to the ocean and the water and gravity would’ve taken care of the rest.
And before the digger did the last bit, the water was already flowing through the trench, filtering through the sand at the end and liquifying it at the wash - the digger didn’t even need to do that, as for the camera mans weak attempt at a weedy shallow trench with his foot - these two don’t know about sand hydroponics - when I was a child digging at the beach, I was mystified that if I dug a deep hole at near high tide, the sand at the bottom of the deep hole would liquify and fill with water, if I dug a shallow hole and filled it with water from the sea/a tap in the beach house/chalet, the water would go down/soak through the sand draining my hole = the beach has a water table that lowers & rises with the tide, and the water can filter/soak/permeate through the sand. 😉
sadly, when some of the best water movements in nature are recorded like this outlet, or the waves from glacier calvings or tsunami waves of any size the camera people just don’t get it happening at all! it’s hugely frustrating. Tsunami video is excusable, but when they are high up on a building and not at risk just keep the f in g camera still.

Why is stuff like this so incredibly satisfying to watch?
It's not. It sucks to watch because the camera man is horrible and the machine operator is worse. They conspired to ruin this experience for us all.
Please remember to look thru the viewfinder. That was brutal
