Thank you Lena for this Video. I have my MiniLab 3 since June 2023 and love it. The sounds are great and the device is surprising in so many ways. It's simple to use right from the start, but I'm still exploring new things every time I use it!
I've got this one for almost a year now. A beautiful piece of gear. I use it daily at home, and also while traveling. Very well made, with a lot of features and great Ableton Live integration. I really like the relative knob option - using this you can control last selected parameter in DAW and it picks up the value without jumping and value scaling. I'm very satisfied with this controller.
I think the reason it took so long to dish out the new Controler was because Arturia believes in the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" philosophy. Ableton is also like this. Nothing wrong with that. Arturia never makes a shit product. It's almost always Iconic and well made. Keep it going!
You seem to have experience with this stuff, do you also know if it can be used with "Audacity"? I just bought the Arturia mini Lab 3 and would like to try it first with Audacity.... and how is the software Arturia is coming with? Thank you!!!
I would argue that with Ableton 11, the company is more like "if it's broke, why fix it? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯" I never had so many crashes with any previous version.
Audacity is an audio editor, not a workstation. It features very basic MIDI file playback, where it converts Allegro files, but no control, recording etc.
- Is it possible, or will it be possible in the future, to edit the transport controls? A dedicated undo button instead of the tap tempo button would turn this into my ideal mini midi keyboard. - Another great addition would be the ability to keep the shift button enabled without having to hold it, i.e. by double-tapping it. This feature was implemented on the Novation Launchkey Mini MK3 with a later firmware upgrade and is very useful.
To answer my own question, this seems possible to do yourself, i.e. using Logic Pro X by changing the keyCmd= value in the Arturia Logic script which comes with the Minilab 3: {control='PLAY', keyCmd=3}, -- Play {control='STOP', keyCmd=5}, -- Stop {control='TAP', keyCmd=532}, -- Tap Is there a list of these keyCmd values available anywhere?
@@korynt3984 That could be a solution too. I think currently the Hold button just enables the Hold / Note sustain mode (according to the manual), but I don't have the Minilab yet, so am not able to test it.
@@woutandapiano I'm just guessing how they might resolve it, I doubt it works this way. It seems they didn't think it through too much. They could at least position transport on pads 1-3 so you could do Shift + Pad1 for Play with one hand. It's a terrible design choice honestly.
Could you please do a video on the Minilab 3 showing how to use it with the Midi Control Center for those of us who have purchased this as our first controller?
For real, I bought one for my daughter's birthday and ive spent about 12 hours now just trying to figure how to make some noise. I would be happy with just listed instructions, all of the videos are more concerned with showing capabilities instead of how to set it up. very frustrated right now.
