I'm on the DA program, and we practice paper charting and computer charting. The reason we practice on paper is for us to remember the surfaces and for us to know how to read the chart if what kind of treatment or restoration the patient has.
Thanks for the dentistry insight into operation charting. As an Orthodontic Lab Technician, I do something similar on paper for my in-house aligners and attachments for the doctors and assistants to refer to chair-side. ciao! ~
I'm on apprenticeship for 5 weeks, it was good at the beginning, everything for me is new and I feel a lot of stress. I'm trying to fight it. Sometimes I feel that so much is required of me that I should already be able to do everything as if I had been there for a few years. I'm close to leaving it. Do you have any ways to survive this?
You do need to learn/know a lot! 😅 there is SO MUCH involved in dentistry and truly we ALL struggle at the beginning. It is very normal to feel so lost, but know that you’re not 🙏🏼 Please watch our other videos on externship, interviews and set ups! We like to keep it ease and give you great real-life info 😃😄 don’t give up yet and please reach to us on Instagram or Facebook if you have specific questions, we’re here to help 💞
Currently in Dental Assistant school on my 3rd mod we on doing dentrix and paper charting. I feel stumped but my grades are impeccable. The charting on paper is a doozy 😂
I’m struggling understanding the different matrix systems (Palodent, Tofflemire, Mylar strips).. like when they’re used and how they’re used. How we pass them etc.. I tried to assistant with the palodent and was trying to use the little device thing that picks up the special wedge while also holding my suction and air water and I just could not get it on there.
First, the only time you will use any of those is when the filling is interproximal. Mylar is only for anterior. Some drs will mostly use palodent, I just hand my dr the band/wedge/ring and he puts it on. If your dr uses mostly the polodent then the only time you would use a tofflemire is when there’s no adjacent teeth. Hope this helps 🙂
How do you know if a school is good or not, I'm applying to a for profit private school, the reviews are mixed so it's confusing to decide *I'm doing it for dental assisting it's 17k
17k for a Dental Assisting class??? Girl! I hope you didn’t pick it. I paid $3,900 for mine. At the end of the day, we’ll both get the same job. Don’t over do it.

In DA program now, we do paper charting. Many offices here aren’t updated so 😒
That sucks! But at learning learning in paper will still give you the charting knowledge. Once you switch to software it will be much easier!
